Dog Food Container Reviews
As a pet owner of several different animals, I have always struggled with trying to manage multiple bags of food. They need to be kept out of reach of my pets but close enough to get to twice a day for feeding. I also needed to keep them concealed as they don’t look or smell good when company is over.
Tumblr media
I tried using those generic pet food storage container and pet treat container that they sell at the pet stores. They always had the feel of being cheaply made and were expensive. I also tried using a Rubbermaid garbage pail for pet food storage but the lid doesn’t stay tight and I was worried about toxins in the plastic.
After looking for answers online and not finding many trustworthy reviews, I decided to write something myself on the dog food container I finally settled on.
What worked best for me was the Vittles Vault stackable dog food storage container.

Vittles Vault – Sizing
There are a number of different sized dog food storage bins available in the Vittles Vault line. They have a chart on their website that lists different products suitable for various amounts of food ranging from 5 pounds to 70+ pounds.
Each pet food container also comes in different styles. The largest ones stand up straight and have a lid at the top. There is a version that is stackable that has the lid on the side. They also have a dog food bin in a standard pail format and also a soft fabric type of container that shrinks as the food is consumed. The smallest containers also come in travel sized with carry handles or lids that have locking clasps.
Depending on your needs there are many different choices for dog food container that one or maybe multiple items will fill.

Dog Food Container – A Review
When trying to figure out dog food storage, I had several goals in mind that I wanted.
1. A stackable system to keep the different bags of food organized. 2. A sealable lid to keep the food fresh and the pets and bugs out. 3. A food grade plastic to keep any toxins out. 4. A tough enough plastic so I would not need to replace it every year of use.
My favorite dog food container was the Vittles Vault line of products. I went with the largest container for my dog food, the version with the lid on the side for my cat food, and the smallest one as a dog treat container.
All three items were tough food grade plastic. I have no concerns about them breaking on me. The screw on gamma lids create a seal to preserve freshness and also totally eliminated any odors escaping or the animals getting inside. The two larger containers also stack which saves me a lot of space.
I still have not decided what I like better though. Putting the food inside the container still in the bag or dumping the food in by itself. With the bag still around the food, it prevents any oils and crumbs from getting on the plastic which will prevent cleanup later. Dumping the food in is really convenient though as I can put several bags in at once and even mix different varieties by pouring two bags at once.
I really cannot recommend the Vittles Vault line enough. It solved all the concerns I was having and has become a very reliable dog food container. I am even considering using the smaller versions to store coffee in!
