Nostalgium Directive is a small, Seattle, Washington-based record label. The label takes a curatorial and communal approach to its roster, and aims to balance cohesion and aural variety while keeping the visual aesthetic as absolutely consistent as possible. Whenever permissible by the artist, all releases will be made available as pay-what-you-want digital downloads. We seek any and all dark folk, post-punk, goth, (darker) shoegaze, ambient, and drone artists/bands, but will listen to anything so long as it fits the vibe and aesthetic the label is trying to cultivate: somber, atmospheric, dreamy. Interested parties can get in touch via the Contact link below.

New Nostalgist MLP available today!

Nostalgist’s new Disaffection mini-LP starts shipping out tomorrow, 3/16. Heavy, ethereal post-punk featuring Aesop Dekker (Worm Ouroboros, Khôrada, Extremity, ex-Agalloch) on session drums. Five new tracks plus a remix of the band’s Catherine Wheel cover.
Download codes are included as always, but if you want just the digital version that’ll drop for whatever price you want on 3/30 (Bandcamp doesn’t allow free digital preorders, so it’s set at $1). A slight warning– due to the ineptitude and rough handling of UPS, there’s some smudging on the Side B labels of many copies, but we guarantee this does NOT affect sound quality whatsoever– it’s a matter out of our hands, alas.
You can order and stream two tracks here: http://nostalgist.bandcamp.com/
The band is playing their record release show on Saturday, 3/17 at Kame hou$e 206 with Grey Waves and Geist & the Sacred Ensemble. Message the band directly for the venue address on the day of the show.

New Kevin Hufnagel double EP tape now streaming
Stereogum's Doug Moore has premiered Kevin Hufnagel's beautiful new double EP tape of ambient work. Side A, Backwards Through the Maze, contains five new pieces, while Side B is the 40+ minute, sleep-oriented Polar Night, a digital release from 2011. This was one of the very first ideas I had when formulating the label in my head years ago, and I'm forever grateful Kevin took me up on it.
Listen here: http://bit.ly/1TA22za Buy here: http://bit.ly/1T7lkip
Orders will begin shipping on Friday, 5/13, along with the Planning For Burial/Stress Waves 7" (which will be streaming Friday). Both will be available for pay-what-you-want download on the label Bandcamp in the coming weeks. For those into heavier music, Kevin's also a member ofGorguts, and their incredible release Pleiades' Dust comes out Friday the 13th as well.
Kevin will be playing a release show in NYC at Saint Vitus on Sunday, May 15th. More details here: Dylan Carlson (Earth), Guardian Alien, Kevin Hufnagel at Saint Vitus
We send our heartiest congratulations to Kevin, and many thanks to Doug and Stereogum.

Nostalgist Tour Edtion 7″ now available

The remaining 37 copies of the tour version of the 2013 debut Nostalgist 7", Monochromantic, are now available in the Storenvy webstore. These are on black/white swirl vinyl and packaged in letterpressed chipboard sleeves designed and printed by Demian Johnston. Due to some miscommunication on our part, the first draft of the sleeve text was printed and as such, there's some glaring typos present (there was something like 72 records originally pressed), but we still think it looks beautiful. We also don't plan on this 7" being re-pressed any time soon. Buy here: http://bit.ly/1Rj1AcQ
In addition to the Kevin Hufnagel and Planning For Burial releases coming out this year, we'll also be releasing another tape (information TBA) issuing the Nostalgist full-length Of Loves and Days Ago on vinyl (late spring/early summer) and re-pressing the Wildhoney s/t 7". We're down to our last copies of the latter, so snatch one up while you can.

Black Friday Sale + New 2016 Releases from Kevin Hufnagel and Planning for Burial/Stress Waves
Now through the holiday season, enter ARTIFACT at checkout in our webstore for 25% off and acquire your ND goods trample-free. Link here: http://bit.ly/1XwGvdg
We're incredibly excited to announce we have two new releases for early 2016. Guitar sorcerer Kevin Hufnagel (Dysrhythmia, Gorguts, Sabbath Assembly (official), Vaura) is one of our favorite players today, and his ambient cassette will contain two EPS: the brand new Backwards Through the Maze, and the very first physical release of his sleep-oriented 2012 effort Polar Night. If you're only familiar with one or two of his bands, this is another incredibly impressive and atmospheric side of his playing.
Simultaneously, we'll be issuing a split 7" single between dear friends Planning For Burial and Stress Waves. No other record hit us straight in the heart like the greys of PFB's Desideratum LP in 2014, and his contribution features Kristina Esfandiari of King Woman on backing vocals. Post-punk synth duo Stress Waves hail from Brisbane, Australia, and their beautiful, contemplative and romantic vibe reminds us of classic coldwave like Asylum Party.
We're also slowly putting together the pieces for the vinyl version of the Nostalgist album. Expect a very limited release of 100 or so copies in special packaging.
Have a great rest of your year and thanks for reading. We're grateful for your time and support. THE ARTIFACT MATTERS.
