i had to get up hella early for work this morning and i'm really tired  so replies won't be done tonight. i also start my full day classes tomorrow ( i was on march break this week ) so i won't be on till 3pm, or later.

Hooooly shit. That’s a lot of followers— 614. Damn. Well, alright, I’ve only been here for a couple days— no, more like a week? Let’s talk about Beth Greene’s braid for a sec.

Whether it’s a personal touch added by Kinney or a conscious decision on the part of wardrobe, I love that damn braid.  Because it’s so indicative of Beth and her views of the new world.  That silly, frivolous, useless braid is almost a symbol of her.  And not because Beth herself embodies any of those traits - she doesn’t.  But even when she’s disheveled, covered in blood and grime, hair curling in wisps of disarray - she still has that damn braid in.  Still takes the time to plait those single strands over and over and set it right.  Because even though it serves no function, a plain pony tail isn’t enough for her.  It’s the same reason Beth’s prison cell had the warmest atmosphere.  It’s the same reason she found the work of the embalmer strangely poetic.  It’s the same reason she’s able to inspire trust and hope in the meanest, gruffest member of their group.  Beth doesn’t just want to survive, she wants to live.  And she’s one of the very few survivors who isn’t afraid to let themselves - whether it’s singing, writing, indulging in her first drink, or fixing that damn braid.
