Things have a way of coming back to you

To any kid out there looking for some kind of meaning in this world, I’m 23 this year, and I’m still as lost when I was 16 and graduating school. I dropped out of 2 polytechnics, got a job, went to a private school to get my diploma but still, I have no idea what to do with my life.

Depression have a way of gnawing at you, tugging you and reminding you of your past. I’ve struggled with acne as a teenager, and oh boy was I so wrong to think that everything will be okay when I’ve passed 20.

I’ve only now starting to learn to be okay with myself. It doesn’t really go away does it? I still take out my spectacles when I look in the mirror just to save me from the horror that is my face.

The only thing that I was okay with was my body and now I know it’d never be the same for God knows how long. I’d probably spiral down this endless hole of darkness.

There’s this constant lump in your throat. You wake up with it and it’s just there the whole day. You laugh and smile and do whatever it takes to survive. It’s like your body is functioning on it’s own, like a reflex. You don’t emotionally feel anything. 

Then you go back to bed, exhausted by this weight in your heart and all you can do is cry.

I’m 23 this year. And it still hasn’t gotten better for me yet.
