What you don’t say.
Alisa Ortega X Knox Landry
Can you tell I’m obsessed with this ship?
Summary: After Alisa gets hurt outside of court, Knox struggles to stay calm while she insists she’s fine.
Tw: Physical assault and bruising.
Word count: 1250
The courthouse steps were chaos. Cameras clicking at a blinding rate, questions asked from every angle and Alisa’s only focus was to get Avery back to the car without snapping at any of the shitty paparazzi. She keeps her sunglasses on, her hand firmly holding Avery’s.
They were almost at the car when the crowd broke. A man surged forward, fast. His expression twisted with anger and rage.
The hit wasn’t aimed at her, not at first. But when Alisa put her body between Avery’s and him she took the hit in her neck, near her shoulder and he slammed his shoulder hard enough to cause her to turn sideways. Oren was there in a flash, pushing the man away and ordering his men to handle him. Pain burst through Alisa’s shoulder but she kept her face neutral and didn’t slow down.
She squeezed Avery’s hand tighter when she looked at her with wide, worried eyes. “In the car.”
When they get in the car Avery immediately asks, “Are you okay?”
“Yes, don’t worry.”
“But-.”
“There’s no buts,” Alisa cuts in. “Protecting you is my job and I wasn’t hurt.”
Avery didn’t let it go until Alisa promised she’d tell her if she was in too much pain.
When she parks into her apartment building she finds Knox already there leaning against his car, his phone in his hand. Alisa curses herself for forgetting they’d agreed to go to dinner. She leaves her car and walks over to his.
“You’re late.” He said scanning her face immediately noticing something was wrong.
“Sorry. Traffic was terrible. You ready to go?”
“You tell me.”
She meets hit eyes evenly, “I’m fine, let’s go.”
The restaurant was low lit, the soft hum of conversation and the occasional clink of glass. Knox leaned back in his chair, eyes on Alisa as she pushed food around her plate, her movements stiff.
“You’ve been quiet.” He says finally.
“Long week,” she replied, eyes on her plate. “Nothing to worry about.”
He didn’t believe her but he didn’t press either. Just nodded, letting the silence settle between them.
When the check came, Knox slid his card across before she could argue. Outside the night air was chilly and she tugged her jacket tighter around herself. He opened the car door for her without a word, and she slipped inside.
The drive back to his apartment passed in silence; not awkward just comfortable silence.
She leaned her head against the glass, city lights reflecting on her face, while he kept his hand loose on the wheel, the other one on her thigh.
Back at his apartment he opened the door and let her in first. “You have work tomorrow?” She asked walking inside.
“Uh-huh.” He followed her inside, narrowing his eyes at the stiffness of her movements. “What’s wrong with you?”
“Nothing.” She set her bag down, avoiding his gaze.
“Try again.” He said blocking her path.
She sighed and pushed past him towards the kitchen. “It’s nothing you need to concern yourself with.”
She fills a cup with water and turns to find him in front of her.
“See, you say that, but you’re moving like you’ve been hit by a truck.”
She contemplates telling him what happens but settles on, “It wasn’t a truck.”
His relaxed face immediately hardens. “Someone put their hands on you?” He asked his voice low.
Alisa tightened her grip on the glass, “It’s not what you think.”
“Then tell me.”
She exhaled, her eyes flicking away. “It happened after court. Someone tried to get to Avery so I stepped in. It wasn’t- it’s not as bad as it sounds.”
Knox stared at her like he was trying to decide if he heard her right. His jaw tightened and he took a step closer. He took a deep breath to clam himself down.
“Not as bad as it sounds?” He asked. “Alisa, someone put their hands on you.”
“Well technically not on me, She said putting the glass on the counter. “but I handled it.”
“That’s not the point.” He stepped closer, crowding her space.
“You’ve been quiet all night.” Knox said his voice edged with frustration. “And you didn’t even think to tell me? You should’ve told me the second it happened.”
She looked away again. “It’s nothing.” She insisted.
“Nothing?” His voice was sharp carrying that edge that made her freeze. “What if that prick had a knife??”
“But he didn’t.” She said refusing to back down.
“Show me.”
Their eyes clashed in silent battle. Eventually Alisa shrugged off her jacket revealing a dark bruise on both her shoulder and her arm.
“That looks like it hurts.”
She waved a hand dismissively. “It’s not that bad. Really. I’m fine”
“You could’ve been seriously hurt.“
“But I’m not, Knox. I’m not.” She insists and shrugs, “You’re overreacting.”
He ran a hand over his face. “I know you handled it but you still should’ve told me.”
“Honestly,” she said trying to lighten the mood. “It’s a bruise not a catastrophe. Let’s move on and not make this a bigger deal.”
Knox’s eyes focused on her shoulder wondering if he should make a big deal out of this like he so badly wanted to or if he should listen to her and let it go. He decided on the latter, his eyes softened and he looked her in the eyes.
She reached up, brushing her fingers against his cheeks. “I’m fine. I promise.” she murmured her voice calm but teasing. She leaned closer letting her lips meet his in a soft, deliberate kiss.
Knox pulled back just enough to search her face. “You’ll tell me next time, yeah?”
Alisa rolls her eyes even if she felt herself smile, “Whatever helps you sleep at night.”
“You’re impossible.” He said taking a step back and cracking his knuckles.
“You say that like it’s news.” She said taking her glass of water off the counter and making her way to the living room. She sank into the couch like her arm wasn’t bruised, and reached for the remote.
Knox followed, hovering in the doorway before grabbing a blanket. Alisa held her hand up towards him, “I don’t need that.”
“Didn’t ask.” He says flatly, draping it over her anyway.
She gave him a look. Sharp enough to cut, but he wasn’t affected, he merely blinked.
“You can’t help yourself, can you?” She says adjusting the blanket on her shoulders.
“Nope.” He said simply. “Get used to it.”
Alisa shook her head, her lips twitching as she turned back towards the tv. Knox didn’t push further just sat down next to her, stretching out and crowding her space. She huffed and sent him a glare that he countered with a smirk of his own.
“You’re hovering.” Alisa muttered flipping through channels.
“If I was overreacting you’d know it.”
She sighed and shook her head, ”It’s a bruise. Not the end of the world.”
His gaze flicked to her shoulder again then back to her face. “It’s not easy to ignore.”
“You’re relentless.” She said though there was a hint of softness to her smile.
“Only when it’s you.” He says softly.
Alisa finally gives in and she shifts so she can rest her head on his shoulder.
Knox wanted to beat the fuck out of whoever hurt her, but Alisa said she had it handled and he knew she could handle herself. So he drops a soft kiss to her hair and puts his arm around her.
Guess who got suspended second day of school??😝 Anyway I wrote this at night and I was dying to sleep to there’s probably a lot of mistakes 😔

Alisa Ortega is so misunderstood and overhated. People see the sharp edges, the professionalism, the unshakable composure, but they don’t see the cost.
She had to stand there and watch Nash move on with someone completely different from her, starting a family, while she was stuck in place. This is the same Nash she was engaged to, the man she built a life with until it unraveled under the weight of Hawthorne stuff. there were issues between them in the engagement , she was hurt enough to tell Avery, “Take it from me,never lose your heart to a Hawthorne.”
Their breakup wasn’t simple. Once, when Nash told her, “If it were up to me, you wouldn’t be near Avery,” she pushed back, “You don’t mean that.” And he cut her down with, “You don’t get to tell me what I mean. Not anymore.”
It’s shocking, because who else would have handled the media, the finances, the constant chaos? Without Alisa, the whole family would have crumbled, taking an empire down with them. She is indispensable, and yet they still find ways to attack her. She even made sure Avery moved back into the mansion so she wouldn’t lose her inheritance. The truth is, they’re all here, still standing, still thriving, because of her.
When Nash and Alisa broke up, he wasn’t fine, but now he’s building a future with Libby. Alisa had to watch from the sidelines, and the only one making sure she didn’t work herself into the ground was Xander… because Nash told him to keep an eye on her. And in Grayson’s POV, he admits, “In another life, if things had gone differently for Alisa and Nash, her last name might have been Hawthorne — not that she would have taken Nash’s name.” Ouch.
And then there’s a realization: “Nash didn’t trust Alisa with me. He hadn’t for months.”
Or Alisa’s own words: “He can’t even stand in the same room with me, but he called because he knows I’m good at my job.” That one cuts deep.
She avoided looking at Nash the way a person avoids looking at the sun, knowing it will burn.
Yet still, people questioned her loyalty: “We couldn’t be certain where your loyalties would lie, plus, given the whole broken engagement, she had a reason not to be loyal to the Hawthornes.” When did she become the enemy? She was only doing what the old man wanted her to do. Do you know how much that cost her?
Nash himself admitted, “Lee-Lee and me were too different — always were. What she wanted, I can’t give her. And Alisa Ortega… she deserves the world.”
They broke off the engagement because Nash refused to let his grandfather pull his strings — or hers. He expected her to walk away from all things Hawthorne, too. But she couldn’t. “Nash was raised to be extraordinary, but he wasn’t the only one the old man had a hand in raising. So yes, I stayed.”
Even her sharp lines carry hidden meaning. When she told Nash, “I’m not in the business of protecting every sad story that comes along,” she wasn’t just talking about Libby.
And Nash’s nickname for her, Lee-Lee, just… hurts in hindsight.
One of the most heartbreaking moments? “This ain’t what you think, Lib. I don’t have feelings for her. But just because things don’t work with a person doesn’t mean they stop mattering.”
She even admitted: “I did what Nash should’ve done. It cost me everything. But before Mr. Hawthorne passed, he stipulated to my father that I would have been the one who took the lead with you.”
Her whole life, she’s been held to impossible expectations. She still hears the old man’s voice in her head, judging her for any slip. And the roots of her strength go back to tragedy — when she was only nine years old, she lost her mother. That’s when the old man, cruel as ever, took interest in her.
Alisa Ortega has been holding the Hawthornes together for years, quietly bleeding for them behind the scenes, she’s indispensable .They’re still here because of her.I’m really excited to see how her and Knox’s relationship will develop.

People hate Lyra for wanting answers, even though everyone in the series did the same thing. Why is it suddenly a crime when Lyra seeks the truth, especially when she fully deserves it? Everyone in the series was searching for answers, after all, isn’t that what Jameson hungers for?
Let’s go back to the original trilogy. By that logic, everything Avery did—who was also a stranger at the start and got caught up in all of this—would be considered reckless or unwise just because she sought answers. In doing so, she drew attention to herself and faced dangers that could have affected everyone around her. Considering the circumstances and who she was, she could have easily been labeled an untrustworthy threat. Yet Grayson was criticized for not trusting her, even though she inherited everything overnight. Their grandfather died and left everything to someone they never met,it wasn’t unreasonable for Grayson to suspect foul play.
Meanwhile, Jameson seems to get a free pass for handling things with Lyra far worse than Grayson did with Avery. I’m not being biased, but Jameson is adored for helping Avery get answers, while Grayson is criticized and told to stop for helping Lyra.
Another key point: Lyra only has herself and Grayson now. Avery and the others, on the other hand, pursued answers together, built a support system, and even found love along the way. Everyone else’s journey ended with them settled, “lovey-dovey,” finding answers and comfort—but now, because Lyra and Grayson aren’t in the same position, Lyra has been cast as the “dangerous threat”

After Midnight.
Alisa Ortega X Knox Landry
I wrote this 4 days ago but forgot to post 💔💔This is part 2💋
Summary: When Knox calls her in the middle of the night. Alisa doesn't ask questions she just shows up.
Tw: Aftermath of violence and mild sexual innuendo.
Word count: 805
It was almost midnight when Alisa gets a text from Knox, "You up?"
She calls him instead of texting back, he answers on the second ring. "Were you asleep?"
"No. I was about to. What happened?"
"Nothing. Just calling."
"At 1 am?" she frowned, "Knox, what happened?"
"I'm fine." He says but it sounds fake to his own ears.
Alisa doesn't hesitate and pushes the covers back,
"Send me your location."
She finds him outside a bar she normally wouldn't spare a glance. Knox was leaning against a wall one hand in his pocket, the other holding a napkin to his lips.
"What the hell happened to you?" She demanded as she approached.
"Wrong place, wrong time." He says with a half smile-half wince.
She reaches out and tilts his chin up. "Busted lips and bruised jaw. Anything else I should know about?"
"Only that you didn't have to come."
"You called me, so I did."
He looks at her for beat, expression unreadable.
She rubs her temple and says, "Are you in trouble?"
"Yes." He says seriously.
She immediately pulls her phone out to make some calls. "What kind of trouble are we talking about here?"
"The kind that only happens around you."
She stops typing and raises an eyebrow at him. Amused. "You're not as smooth as you think you are. That line sounds so rehearsed."
Before he can reply, he glances at the crowd spilling out of the bar. A couple of guys stood in the doorway, looking at Knox like they were wanting to fight.
She shifted until she was blocking his line of sight.
"You planning to go back in there?"
"Only if they ask nicely." He mutters sarcastically without looking at her.
"Get in the car." She said her tone leaving no room for argument.
Knox didn't move right away but then he pushed off the wall and made his way to her car.
"You always this bossy?" He says over his shoulder.
She ignores him and gets in the driver seat.
The drive to her apartment was silent at first. Knox's lips were still bleeding a little, she hands him a tissue without looking.
Then she asks him, "So, what was it this time?”
Knox took the tissue and leaned his head back against the chair, watching the streetlights pass. “Some guy wouldn’t lave her alone.”
“Who’s her?” She asks confused.
“Bartender. She told him to back off, he didn’t. So I stepped in.”
Alisa lets out a quiet breath, “Even if this didn’t need to end in a whole fight,” she said, softer now. “I get why you did it.”
“Then why do you sound like you’re three seconds away from a panic attack?” He says sarcastically.
“Knox, I swear-.” She pauses and exhales sharply. “One day you’re going to push it too far in these fights and I won’t be able to get you out.”
He takes her hand and kisses it, “You always do.”
The drive is silent the rest of the way back.
Back at her apartment she puts her keys on the counter and steers him towards the bathroom before he can make himself comfortable anywhere else. "Wait here." She says and goes to get hydrogen peroxide and bandages. When she comes back he's standing at the sink washing his hand, the water runs pink.
She steps closer and nods towards the edge of the tub, "Sit."
He hesitates then does as she says.
She crouches down in front of him and starts soaking the cottons in her hands. Finally, she dabs it at the cut between his knuckles. For a few seconds the only sound is their breathing.
Knox breaks the silence just to mess with her, "You know this isn't how you're usually on your knees."
Alisa dabs the cotton with more force than necessary, causing him to wince. "Careful, Knox. I'm not above making this hurt."
"Guess I should tell you where else it hurts." He says with a grin.
Alisa choosing to ignore that, sighs and wraps his hand.
we're going to act like this is smth knox would say since i don't remember his personality and i'm too tazy to reread tgg😔
When she was done, they both go to the living room.
She makes him tea, and puts it in front of him.
He raises an eyebrow "This supposed to make me feel better?"
She rolls her eyes, "Drink in silence." He laughs quietly, taking a sip.
Later that night they were sitting on the couch talking about random things. He told her about his childhood. She tells him about some of her relationship with Nash. Neither of them pressed too hard, they didn't need to.
When they fall into silence, she gets up and makes her way to her bedroom. He follows her.
They end up in bed but the focus was more about closeness rather than urgency. They lay tangled in the sheets afterwards. His arm was around her, her head on his bare chest.
The next day, she wakes up earlier than him, she always does. Normally, she'd slip out of bed and get ready for the day but instead she stays for a moment. Staring at Knox, who was still asleep, his heavy arm draped over her waist.
Eventually she got up, ignoring the sound of protest he made. Coffee first.
By the time Knox walked into the kitchen, barefoot and shirtless she had a mug and a plate for him. "Morning." He said sliding next to her and leaning down to kiss her. She smiles faintly and returns the kiss.
When they pull away she hands him his coffee.
"Thank you.” He says. “Although should I be worried, or just eat before you change your mind?” He says in mock seriousness.
Alisa gives him a light smack as he chuckles. “Don’t get used to it. How’s the hand?”
He flexed it. "Still sore."
"You'll live." She says pushing his plate closer. "I have to leave for work now." She says reaching for her bag on the counter. "If you get in trouble again, I'm not bailing you out."
"We'll see." He says with a smile that makes her roll her eyes.
Now rereading i was def skipping from scene to scene but im too lazy to edit😭😭

Something Real.
Alisa Ortega x Knox Landry
Side note: I was bored and i’m obsessed with this ship so I had to. This is the shittiest thing i’ve ever read in my life. I actually cried while rereading. Also I don’t remember Knox’s personality AT ALL expect that he was grumpy, so if i got something wrong let me know. Feel free to give feedback.💋
Tw: Argument, Implied intimacy (Barley anything).
Summary: For 4 months they’ve been circling around eachother like it means nothing. Until it does. Alisa Ortega is used to calling the shots. Even if she’ll end up breaking her own heart. But Knox doesn’t feel like playing pretend anymore..
Word count: 950
Alisa is always in control. She had to be. Even when it costs her everything. But she feels her control slipping and she wasn’t ready to admit it.
They’re in her apartment, late. She’s on her laptop, sitting on the couch going over a report that Grayson sent earlier. When Knox breaks the silence “You ever turn it off?”
“Turn what off?” She asked without looking away from her laptop.
“This act you always do. This whole ‘nothing ever affects me’ stuff.”
She look up at him, annoyed. “I have work to do.”
“That’s not an answer.”
She rolls her eyes and decides this doesn’t merit a response, she looks back at her screen.
But Knox wasn’t backing down, this had been him bothering for a while.
“It’s funny how fast you can switch it off. How fast you can act that we’re strangers the moment it gets too much.”
“I don’t think you’re a stranger, Knox. You know that. I don’t see the point of this conversation.”
“Then what am I to you?” He demanded.
She sighs, “You knew how it’s going to be when we first started this. We said it wasn’t going to-“
“We didn’t say anything.” He cuts in. “You decided. And assumed I’m okay with it.”
“We didn’t say anything.” He cuts in. “You decided. And assumed I’m okay with it.”
She closes her laptop and stands up. “Are you serious? We’ve been like this for 4 months, and now you’re telling me you don’t like it? I told you. I was clear from the start, you stayed anyway. Don’t blame this on me.”
“There’s always something with you. You always have to be in control. The idea of the unknown terrifies you. You’re too scared to want something real.”
She shakes her head, “That’s not fair.”
“No what isn’t fair is you being able to sleep with me yet you can’t look me in the eye the next day. You can’t kiss me like this is real one second and the other you say you want to slow down. Because god forbid this gets too serious for you.”
She opens her mouth. Closes it.
He waits for her to say something. When she doesn‘t, “Right. Okay.” He says his voice quiet.
He turns and leaves the apartment, the door clicking shut behind him.
She stood rooted to her place wondering what the hell happened. She wouldn’t let herself cry. This is what she had wanted; space. A tear fell that she quickly wiped away, frustrated. She went to her room, and then buried herself in work that she didn’t have to do today, but anything to stop her from overthinking what she just did.
The next day, she just finished a long day of work at hawthorne foundation. When she gets into her car she opens the chat between her and Knox. She hesitates, deleting her message multiple times. She was worried he’d gotten into fights or that he was drinking. Finally deciding on what to say finally she sends “Can we talk?”
Knox got the message, he thought about not replying but changed his mind and sent her his location, “If you show up, I won’t pretend I don’t want answers.”
She finds him in the booth near the back of the bar, she walks over, her heels clicking on the floor. He looks at her but he doesn’t move just takes a sip from his drink. She hesitates then sits. She glances at his hands, seeing his knuckles cracked but she couldn’t see any other injury.
After a minute or two of no one talking, “Thanks for coming.” She says unsure of what else to say.
“I was planning to be here anyway.” He says flatly.
She nods, of course. She looks at the table in front of her not knowing where to start.
“You said you wanted to talk,” He says. “So talk.”
“I didn’t handle yesterday well. Or whatever is going on between us.” She says evenly.
He laughs bitterly, “Which part?? The part where you acted like it wasn’t real? Or the part where you made me believe it??”
She flinches, “Fair enough. But I need you to know that this is was real. Some part of me hoped it wasn’t.”
“You made that obvious.” He says running his fingers through his hair.
“I didn’t mean for my actions to do this. To hurt you like that.”
“No.” He snaps. “You meant it exactly like that. You didn’t want this to matter, not enough to risk anything.”
“Because everything in my life has consequences. I don’t take risks Knox, and you-“
She stops then starts again “You make me forget that.”
He leans forward. “Why is that a bad thing? What’s stopping you from letting go?”
“Because I don’t know how to need you and let you in without losing myself. I didn’t plan for this to matter. I thought this was temporary.”
He clenches his jaw. “You know it’s not. You don’t get to decide that, Alisa. If this doesn’t work it’s on both of us.”
She exhales slowly. “I don’t know how to be good at this,Knox. I don’t want to push you away just because i’m afraid it won’t last.”
“I wasn’t asking for perfect. I’m just asking for something real.” He says gently.
They hold eye contact and then Knox stands up, finishes his drink in one gulp and throws bills on the table. “Come on.” He says offering her his hand, she takes it and he pulls her up.
They leave the bar in silence, walking side by side down the side walk towards Alisa’s car. Their hands brush multiple times until she reaches out and takes his. He hold her hand without saying anything.
When they reach the car she unlocks the door but doesn’t get in, instead she turns to him.
“Did you drink much tonight?”
He raises his eyebrows. “Why? You planning to drive me home, Ortega?”
She shrugs. “Just asking if i should be worried.”
He gives her a half smile. “I only had one drink. I’m fine.”
She hesitated then looks at him. There’s something odd about her expression like she’s deciding whether to say something or not.
“Do you want to come back to mine?” She asks quietly.
He studies her face. Searching for the usual out. Or regret. He finds none. Not this time. So he nods once. “Yeah. I do.”
I genuinely hate this. Idek why i’m posting it? Anyway if you saw any spelling mistakes no you didn’t🥰
