                       “Daddy…” Izzy whines softly in her white onesie with pink unicorn print. “You said Auntie Carol would be here today… she’s not here!” She complains as she leans on the door frame, her thumb firmly in her mouth. In the same hand she clutches a pink blankie, rubbing it across her top lip for comfort and in the other hand is a stuffed teddy fox who she’s lovingly named Stanley. Tony’s stood in the kitchen. He feels bad because he DID promise her that Carol would come over today.

“I know, monkey but–” Tony’s cut off by the voice of F.R.I.D.AY.

“Captain Carol Danvers has arrived, boss.”

Izzy’s eyes suddenly widen, ANY sense of tiredness she once carried disappears into a split second. She rips her thumb from her mouth and runs to the door, still clutching hold of Stanley and her blankie.

“AUNTIE CAROL!” She yells the moment the door opens, flinging herself into Carol’s arms with a wide grin and a tight grip. “

            Time works differently in space, and while she’s improved her communication with Earth beyond a simple pager from decades ago, she still doesn’t have the means of determining what time it is down on her former home planet, or how much has PASSED while up in space. But she’s scheduled to head back down to the Avengers Compound today-- ever since she first came back, she’s agreed to regular check-ins with the other heroes, to, you know, make sure the universe isn’t collapsing in on itself. 

The sky is darkened the moment she lands outside, finally here. 

And she doesn’t waste a moment before making her way in.

She doesn’t know what she expects when she first walks inside, but a GRIN spreads across her face when she sees Izzy running towards her ( they’d met another time when she was here ), and she leans down to hug the little girl once she crashes into her. 

“Hey there, Izzy!” She can’t help but let out a laugh-- she’s always had a SOFT SPOT for kids. “Did you miss me?”

    Hearts are beating rapidly, the Time machine is SMITTEN by this woman. The emotion is so strong she doesn’t know what to do with it, simply sitting there buzzing and bubbling and trying not to rip Time an asshole in her excitement. The hair. THE HAIR. Jeebus she’s literally GORGEOUS and can FLY and Talia literally has no idea what to do with herself, a big goofy grin spreading on her face, staring up at this q u e e n.

         “Ssaw that, saw that, you’re glowing… so much ENERGY, what is that?” Her curiosity is piqued, circling the woman now wid big wide eyes, jittering as thoughts in her mind jumble together, time scrunches up into a little ball and she can’t make sense of if this already happened, is happening now, or will happen later. She doesn’t care, goes with it, with only a hand grabbing her hair subconsciously and tugging, gripping, knocking against her skull.

         “I can do that, too,” she says, COUGHS real loudly, and Time energy starts to seep from her lips. Probably not the most HEALTHY of things she could be doing right now but she doesn’t care. The hand that isn’t actively attempting to pull her hair out ( thankfully unsuccessfully ) moves to grasp the energy she just spit out and manipulate it with her fingers. Golden yellow, like glitter and dust in the air.

         “See?”

        Her lips tug upwards into a smile when she sees the look the shorter woman is giving her, and all of a sudden, Carol loses track of her thoughts, and can only register just how pretty she is. It’s not something that happens often, usually Carol has ahold of herself, carries herself with an air of strength and unwavering confidence ( although more often than not she has doubts instead ), but something about the way this woman looks at her almost flusters Carol as the glow begins to fade. 

     The small smile on her face stretches into an even wider grin, and Carol nods, lifting her hand and turning it slightly, watching as the flickering flames of her powers spread across her fingertips ( hey, who said she couldn’t be a show-off? ) “It’s cosmic energy manipulation. My powers were extracted from a...special core.” The tesseract, to be more specific, but usually she refrains from revealing that she has the powers of an INFINITY STONE flowing through her.

    Head tilts to the side as the other mentions energy manipulation too, before Carol’s gaze follows the golden yellow glow passing through the air. “Impressive, how’d you get yours? If you don’t MIND me asking?” There’s a strange feeling in her stomach that she doesn’t quite recognize ( butterflies, it’s butterflies ), and she doesn’t know how to REACT besides keeping her current expression, and simply wanting to talk to her more.

     “The name’s Carol Danvers. Most call me Captain Marvel, though.”
