Zella Day 

Zella Day Kerr is her birth name, she was born on March 13, 1995 and was raised in Pinetop, Arizona in a small town on the mountains near by to Phoenix.she was raised by her two parents which ran a coffee shop and art space where she worked/helped. working with her parents at the art space it helped influence Day’s nature and musical taste. She started playing the guitar at age 9 and soon after she was writing music. She let her natural surrounds such as the mountains and deserts have a large influence on her music. She eventually moved to LA in 2012, where she then posted a cover of her singing “seven nation army” by The White Strips on You tube. This cover started raking up a ton of views and started creating a name for her in the industry. She then changed her tone of music and shifted her musical interest and became more of a pop oriented artist. Day has been known as the “happier Lana Del Rey” due tot he fact that she has the same message portrayed threw their music but different beat. Day is an American singer/songwriter. She is currently 21 years old and has become a well know singer and song writer, “Billboard” has said that Zella Day’s music is a blend of modern pop and a touch of Western Bohemian flair. Days first single was released in April of 2014 titled “Sweet Ophelia” and “1965″. Soon followed by her release of her debut self titled album in October of that same year

. Day is working with “California indie B3SCI Records” which is the company she released her album with. Zella day has collaborated with many artist but one of her most well know collaboration is with the artist “BORNS” in the song titled “Electric Love” which was used in the well known film “Nerve”. Days album was highly praised by many Magazines and large Corporations. Another song that has been widely known is “Sacrifice” which was used int the film “The Divergent Series- Insurgent”. She has been around since 2012 and is still present and is said to be releasing a new album soon. My favorite son released by Zella Day would have to be “Hypnotic” due to the reason that it expresses love as a drug and showing the dark side to love and how your going to end up at the end of the relationship, the song is very pop but also very haunting al her songs seem to be portraying the beat like that.

Andrew Hozier-Byrne a.k.a. Hozier

   Born in Bray, Ireland on March 17, 1990. Hosier was raised surrounded by music constantly, due to his dad being a local blues musician. he was raised in the minority protestant Quaker faith; which is a religion that is similar to Christian and Catholics in the way that they believe in the father, the son, and the holy spirit and that god is the way to eternal peace, but differ in the way that they believe that the bible is perfect and without error. and believed if a person had a personal revelation it had to be placed against the bible and if the revelation differs than the bible they will reject it. Hosier went to school at Delgado National School and also attended St.Gerard's School. Hozier was always interested in music but decided to join his first band at the age of 15 which played soul/gospel/blue type music. He than decided to try and study for a degree in music at Trinity college Dublin, where he was included in their orchestra until dropping out after just one year. He then  started to record demos for Universal Music. from the years 2009 till 2012 he was with a  Irish choral group called Anuna which toured nationally.

  What Hozier is most well known for his song titled “Take Me to Church” with its lyrical meaning and the amazing message behind the video. The song which took him over a year to compose was first released on September of 2013 on Reddit and launched his career. The music video shows gay discrimination in Russia. His second EP, “From Eden”, released in spring of 2014.

September of 2014 Columbia released his self titled debut album reaching the Top Ten charts in  11 countries, and in Canada and Great Britain the album was certified gold.

Ebba Tove Elsa Nilsson A.K.A. Tove Lo

Ebba Tove Elsa Nilsson also known as Tove lo is a famous 29 year old female  singer/songwriter.The nickname/stage name  “Tove Lo” was given to Ebba by her godmother based on Ebbas love for lynxes called “Lo” in Swedish. Tove grew up in Sweden where she was raised up by her two parents along side with her older brother. Tove has said that she grew up in a very protective home ran by her parents who were academics. She attended school and received good grades and is where Toves found of literature started to grow. Because of her growing love of literature At a young age Tove lo started to create poems and other literature pieces. Before attending a famous music oriented high school Tove performed only twice with a small band of her and her friends. She then graduated high school after two years and had decided that her career path would be in music.

The Start of her career consisted of her making a band called “Tremblebee” that consisted of her and two other males from her school. during that period in her life she would just sing songs that were written for her from the other band members and they would perform usually in a small pub in Sweden. The band eventually broke up after only a few years but lead Tove to search for record deals and producing her own music. She also started showing a electro-pop side of her in her music and started trying to get her demo published and a record deal Tove got a publishing deal with warner. During that time she started to create and release more personal songs on the side as singles her first single was "Love Ballad" released in October 2012, then came her second single, "Habits", in March 2013. “Habits” created a lot of buzz about Tove and sparked a large social media following.  due to the large social media following Lo was offered a record deal and released her debut album “Truth Serum” in march 2014.

she also re-released “Habits” as “Habits (stay high)”  which was then remixed into “stay high” and hit the mainstream music and there Lo was “introduced into music”. Tove lo then started releasing music and started being featured in more music all creating a name for her. On 2 October 2015, Queen of the Clouds was released and created a large fan base and created a name in the music industry. Most recently Tove lo has released her new album titled “Lady Wood” the album is said to be a electro-pop type of album. With the release Tove Lo has also released a short film title “Fairy Dust” for the new album.

Tove los film is something I think everyone mature enough to watch it because on the surface it seems like a weird and sexual music video when in reality it is beautifully expressing her view on love and the dark side of it. My favorite song from Tove Lo is “Lady Wood” reason is I can relate to the lyrics and meaning of the song.

Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa Albanian Model,singer,and songwriter All at age 21 Dua Lipa was born on August 22, 1995 in London,England. Lipa was raised by her parents which included her father, Dukagjin Lipa who was an Albanian rock singer. With Dukagjin as her father there was a large musical presence while growing up. She attended “Sylvia Young Theater School” till 2008, when her and her family moved to Kosovo. While in Kosovo she started to release videos of herself doing covers of songs on YouTube. Dua soon realized that if she was going to take her music career seriously, Kosovo wouldn’t be a good place to start; So at age 15 she moved back to London with aspirations of being a singer. Dua soon became a model as a way to earn money but lost interest soon after she was told that she needed to lose weight.

In 2015 Dua was signed onto “Warner Brothers Records” who is also happens to be the same mange company for Lana Del Rey. On August 2015 She released her first single titled “New love”

produced by Emile Haynie and Andrew Wyatt. Soon after in October “Be the One” written by Lucy Taylor was released making it her second single;

Be the One also created some buzz for Dua helping her career. Dua started her first tour from January till November of 2016 in Europe and the UK.

Dua’s first entry in the U.S. Billboard Top 100 was her fifth single “Blow Your Mind (Mwah)” which was released on August 25. Sean Paul released “No Lie” in November which featured Dua. She has collaborated with “The Fader” (a magazine company) and released a documentary in November 2016 called “See in Blue” based on Dua’s life. Dua lips has yet to release her first studio album but is said to on June 2nd 2017.

My personal opinion on Dua Lipa Is she is a true artist shown by the meanings in all her songs. Her music has a very chill vibe and has an upbeat side to it where you don't have to really pay attention to the lyrics to enjoy it or you can listen closely to find out the meaning behind the song. My favorite song from Dua is “Last Dance” because of the meaning of living in the moment and spending each moment together like its the last. the video for “last dance” is also very beautiful and memorizing to watch.

Lana Del Rey (Elizabeth Woolridge Grant) Lana Del Rey former Elizabeth Woolridge Grant is a 32 year old singer, model, and a song writer. Lana was born on June 21,1985 in New York her mother is Patricia Ann Hill and her father is Robert England Grant. She had a brother,Charlie Grant and a sister, Caroline Grant both younger than her. Lana was raised in Lake placid, New York; she grew up very wealthy and traveled around the world with her parents. She went to a Catholic elementary school. While still a child Lana was the lead of her churches choir at the time; her father wrote country songs and her mother was intrigued by singing. Lana then attended a high school were her mother was working at for a year. Her parents eventually sent off Lana to Kent school where her uncle was an admissions officer there to deal with her rampant alcohol abuse problem at the age of only 15. After graduating Lana spent a year living on long island with her aunt and uncle working as a waitress instead of attending State University of New York at Geneseo. During that one year Lana’s uncle had taught her how to play guitar, which soon after she found interest in being a singer/songwriter and started to compose songs and preform them at nightclubs. while Lana was preforming at night clubs she preformed under stage names like “Lizzy grant” and also “sparkle jump rope queen”. The following fall Lana decided to attend Fordham University and majored in philosophy because of her interest in God and science and finding out the reason why we are on this earth in the first place. while attending college she has stated that making friends was not an easy task for her. In the year 2005 Lana released a seven track album under Elizabeth Woolridge Grant which did not catch wind. In 2007 Lana signed onto a record deal for 10,000 dollars with “5 Point Records” while a senior in college and moved to a Manhattan Mobile Home Park. she than started to collaborate with producer David Kahne. on January 2010 Lana launched her debut album titled “Lana Del Ray A.K.A. Lizzy Grant”

Lana stated that her name came from a time in her life when her and her Cuban friends were speaking Spanish to each other and Lana Del Rey reminded them of the glamor and beauty of the seaside and her friends and managers convinced her to adopt the name. soon after Lana bought out of her contact with 5 Points because she said nothing was happening. In the year 2011 Lana decided to release “video games” and “blue jeans” on YouTube and ended up going viral. she was then signed by Stranger Records to release “video games” as a debut single. The song earned Lana an award in 2012 for “next big thing” by Q and another award from Ivor Novello for “best contemporary song”. The same exact month she signed a record deal with Interscope Records to work on another album.

To create anticipation for the album Lana decided to take stage to preform some of the songs from the album although this did get people talking about Lana it was not good; Lana preformed on Saturday Night Live and it created a huge backlash of criticism and hate for her. Born To Die was officially released on January 31, 2012 and reached number one in 11 countries. Born to Die sold over 3.4 million copies in the year 2012 making it the fifth biggest selling album of 2012.

In June 2012 Lana announced that she had been working on a new album and it was set to be released in November. on November 12 2012 Lana released Paradise making it her second top 10 album in the U.S. selling over 67,000 copies in the first week. while releasing Paradise Lana stated that she will be launching a short film named “tropic”. the short film premiered on December 4 while speaking before the premiere she said that “ I really just want us all to be together so I could try and visually close out my chapter before I release the new record”.

On January 23,2014 Lana announced that she will be singing “Once Upon a Dream” for the 2014 film “Maleficent”. On February 20 she posted a picture on twitter with the caption “Me and Dan Auerbach are excited to present Ultraviolence”. One of the ways Lana promoted her new album was she preformed three songs at Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s pre weeding celebration. Ultraviolence was released on June 13,2014 and debuted at number one in twelve countries including the Untied States and The untied Kingdom. The album sold over 880,000 copies just in the first week.

In December 2014 Lana stated that she will be working on a new album and that it would come out sometime in 2015. Lana then released Honeymoon on September 7, 2015. Lana Del Rey had come forward in October 2015 that she will be writing new material for her new record which was said to be more pop friendly.
