I find myself really hoping Ren gets a moment somewhere, where he learns that House Fortemps has kind of adopted him.

At least in the game, if you go back to House Fortemps after all is said and done, they tell you 'welcome home' and they practically tell you outright that you've been made a member of the family.

Also I keep grinning like an idiot at the mental idea of Count Edmont effectively telling Ren 'I've claimed you, you're My Son Now'. Another Dad to add to the pile!!!

Don't worry, he will! :D Also, good timing on this ask, because this is actually very relevant to a sidefic chapter I might be writing... ;) (Being sick myself that past few days might have given me the urge to speed up writing that sickfic chapter discussed in a couple of other asks haha...) 7.3 spoilers but I kinda love the digital aspects of Necron, cause like sure it's the embodiment of a civilisation's ever present fear of the inevitability of death, but it also looks like it's gonna bust out some of the sickest nightcore songs of the 2000's

I love how the glitchy patterns on the face are kind of a more technological spin on FFIX's Necron's face holes. Pretty cool! Plus anything that references 9 makes me very happy automatically haha

Thank you!! ;v; Just got chronic health problems that flare up with frustrating regularity haha. But I'm doing better today then yesterday, at least!

Oh yes, Ren's order of priorities very much shifts throughout the story. ;) "I want to find a way home / I want to see my (original) family again" is always there in his heart, but over time it gets shunted down lower and lower— still very much there! Still a very strong desire! But new things get piled on top. And eventually things get complicated!

Here's a silly guide to Ren's motivations per expac!

ARR- I want to find a way home but also I want to repay the people who have been helping me

HW - Protect The Smalls at all cost!!!!

SB - I want to keep helping the people of this world, come what may (+I want to obliterate that strange man / I want that strange man to obliterate me???)

SHB - I want to save this world to save the other world to save the other other world and also my everything hurts (and is the crystal exarch's dick made of crystal too?? I HAVE to find out)

I've been doing some thinking about Ren and Zenos and Stormblood and the... last Zenos encounter of that expansion before the credits roll. And my only thought was 'I know their dynamic will be toxic as hell but I cannot imagine it'll go over too well for poor Joker'.

All things considered he's gaining a hell of a terrible track record for people he gains ANY kind of special interest in, toxic doomed yaoi or not. Good lord.

By the end of all this Ren's gonna have a complex when it comes to relationships.

Joker's track record is pretty bad, yeah!! Is it any wonder he's terrified of something taking his loved ones from him? Reality keeps proving it a very valid fear!
