A "Thank You" to Artists
If you stop and think about it, which I often do, it's a miracle that we are able to hear some of the best vocalists, lyricists, musicians and artists do what they do best. Think about how hard it is to get the music from the artist to an individual like me.
There are probably actually a lot of people around the whole who can truly sing. I'm not talking about wanted to sing and then got a lot of voice lessons and then got semi-good at singing and then did it as a job. I'm talking about the people with some super-natural/god-given talent to be able to sing. I do think there are probably a lot of them out in the world.
But then think about how many of those people have access to resources to even allow them to sing. How many of those people even want to be an artists/do music as a job? How many of those people actually make it through the "machine" that is now the music industry. How many of those people have enough of a support system around them and don't "go crazy" or "off the rails" because of the industry, money, fame etc? How many of those people actually put up with the bullshit of dealing with industry reps, corporations trying to profit off of them, agencies, PR companies and so much more that we on the outside probably don't know about? How many of those people actually make the music, lay the tracks down, record, re-record, fill in their backtracking etc and how many of those actually get radio/wide-spread play?
It's really crazy for me to think about how music gets from an artist's brain to me. There are so many steps for things to go wrong. So, I would just like to take this opportunity to say thank you to those that go through that grind, not being in control or knowing the outcome. Thank you to all the artists, but especially the true vocalists who I listen to. Thank you for wanting to do this, thank you for taking it seriously, thank you for putting up with the bullshit and thank you for getting your music out from your brain and all the way to me. It brings me comfort, joy, calmness and so much more.
To the vocalists specifically: I'm often moved to tears when I get to hear you live, please know how much it means to your audiences to be able to see you at the top of your craft performing live - there is no replacement for this, something I think we all remembered during the pandemic. I would also love to be able to ask vocalists what it feels like to be able to open your mouth and just sound like that. I'm in awe and I think it may be one of those things like pretty privilege that you aren't able to explain because you just don't know any different or have a difference frame of reference. But if you could describe what it feels like just to naturally be able to sing to someone who cannot sing at all, I would be all ears.
Once again, thank you making your art and sharing it with me. I don't take it for granted! Support musicians, singers, songwriters, lyricists, vocalists artists and LIVE MUSIC! đŸ€
