Week 1- About Me

Hello! My name is Naomi Tewodros and I am currently a sophomore at UWM. Initially my major was architecture but now I am shifting towards a design major. This is my second year in Milwaukee, but I am actually from Minneapolis, Minnesota. I did not really know much about Milwaukee when I moved here last year, but the longer I stayed the more the city grew on me, especially with all the incredible architecture and art gems around the city! I recently just signed up for this class because I am in the process of switching majors from architecture to design. Although they are both similar fields, I have been getting more and more drawn to design due to the fact that I believe that there is more artistic and creative mobility. I really like how with design covers things from architecture and furniture to fashion and typography. There is just so much variety with the art forms which is exciting. As of now I do not have any professional experience with design, but I do some videography in my free time in which I post on my social media accounts. In the future I hope that I can work on professional videos and design projects. There are many things that inspire me when it comes to art. From music to fashion to different art styles. When making my videos, I am usually inspired by a certain song and base the videos around that song. When it comes to products, design is a major factor for my decisions. For example, I really like furniture with non-traditional and vintage designs/styles which is hard to find at regular furniture stores which is why I tend to look for furniture from second-hand/thrift stores or small businesses because they usually have the intended styles that I like.
