I don’t know how to describe my feelings, so I let music do it for me. I analyze songs that I feel like covering. No requests please, I like going at my own pace.

I just listened to My Chemical Romance’s album Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge. And I’m not exactly a big fan of this album. This is my second least favorite MCR album and I’ll give the pros and cons of the album. I’ll start with the pros. The songs that I do like on here are very catchy such as I’m Not Okay (I Promise), Thank You For The Venom, etc. They have nice guitar riffs and the lyrics weren’t too bad. The Ghost of You has a very pretty guitar melody and decent drum beat. Also, the overall meaning of this album, to my eyes, is that MCR didn’t make this album for the fans. They made it for themselves so they can get whatever emotions they have inside out to the world. Which according to them is a lot of aggression, anger, and depression. I can respect them for making an album that isn’t for the fans, cuz you can’t please the fans all the time. Now here’s the cons. The meaning for each of these songs are so confusing to me, it takes me hours to interpret one song from here with the lyrics pulled up in front of me. And even after those countless hours, I still don’t get it. The only song I understand 100% from Three Cheers is I’m Not Okay. Besides the hits from Three Cheers, I don’t really see any other song I like from here because for most of the songs, I can’t hear a rhythm. They have rhythms in the beginning of the songs, but then they go all over the place and go crazy in a way that makes no sense to me. Rhythm is very important in music to me, and that’s where this album really loses me. One of my least favorite songs on here is Hang em High because it starts off neat at first with a western feel, but then quickly goes into unnecessary screaming and whining, banging drums, and the guitar doesn’t even sound like it’s there anymore. It just falls apart from there with no sense of rhythm anywhere. But hey, I’ll give it points for originality and creativity. Another problem I have with this album is that Gerard Way sounds so whiny on these songs. Everywhere his voice breaks like every 5 seconds and it makes me uncomfortable. If that was the point of this album was to make me uncomfortable, then congrats, you’ve done it. Overall this album was a mess besides the singles off of it. I shall give Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge a 4/10. What did you guys think of the album? Let me know in the comments what you think. Also, I’d appreciate it if someone could give me explanations to each of the songs on Three Cheers cuz I’m very confused like I said. And remember, this is just MY OWN PERSONAL OPINION!!!! And don’t be afraid to give me suggestions to review some other albums you guys enjoy.

Roads untraveled at first can sound like someone trying to support their friend in a time of need, but if you look deeper into it, it could be Death talking to this friend saying that if he can’t take the pain he’s going through or if he regrets things he wishes he could do, that he’s more than welcome to join; aka commit suicide. What do you guys think? What’s your analysis?
