Around the World in Seven Nights. NYFW Brings International Taste to the Runway
Snowstorms and 10-degree weather were no match for the famished fashionistas drawn to another exhilarating NYFW. One by one designers showcased their immense talent and vision for what will be on the racks — and eventually in your closet— this fall/winter 2016.
The shows, no longer being performed at Lincoln Center, took hospice in various studios, museums, and other New York City staples that created an atmospheric allure to its design driven bystanders. The Angel Orensanz Foundation Event Space, known for hosting the wedding of Sarah Jessica Parker and shows for Alexander McQueen, created the perfect backdrop for all the garments as they swished down the runway. Designers drew inspiration from various regions around the world. Join them as they push the envelope and bring us inspiration from places afar that come from within.
House of Byfield debuted the "Safari" collection. The theme of the collection was inspired by a 2012 trip to West Africa (Gabon). Deep hues of terra cotta and African Red were set off with zipper detailing in the tailored suiting of the collection for men and women.
The diverse designs brought movement to the New York runway. Wraps, jackets and printed dresses burst with geometric shapes and bright colors. Long coats swept the runway with artistically drawn figures (cartoon-like but nothing short of fabulous) with extremely bold patterns that drew the eye ever-so-gracefully from the collar all the way down to the southern most tip of this hemisphere.
Oh là là, c'est très chic. Designer Mimi Tran channeled 1920s Paris with a black palette of intricate beading, lace, lattice work and gold accents accentuating the natural beauty of the feminine form.  Fine furs, leathers, satins and silks took you to a place of elegance along the Seine to your dream ball/black-tie event.
Charmeuse and champagne gold dresses; the gilded strokes of forgotten memories, now present. Patterns re-imagined from royal families past, movements so gracious and tasteful, forever last. Crowns, colors, caviar made way for the Queen of Spain in this season's collection by Stello Official.
A very special thanks to all partners and sponsors: Official Media Partner The Fashion Social Network, AIDS Healthcare Foundation, Make A Wish, Privé, Vektor Vodka, Monster Energy, Illy Issimo, SoyJoy, Luna Bar, Kristina George Handbags, The Angel Orensanz Foundation, Carat23, Monticristi and Makeup Pro.

Finding the Perfect Fit. From 'I Do' to 'What Do I Wear?' Winter Weddings 2016
From that initial exchange of glances to the tear-dropping first dance, life's trajectory often leads two souls to a moment of unison. A moment where individuals feel "complete", where families (for better or worse) are bound together, and surnames are transformed overnight...literally. Before reaching the euphoric, story book ending comes one last final obstacle: choosing the dress.
Think about it. A simple night out with friends asks for three hours of preparing, let alone this monumental happily-ever-after.
WHY?
Dresses are as much of a story teller as the girl telling it. It's an indicator of taste as well as a projection of one's personality, and who we are, as perceived by all our loved ones. One can also take the wedding as a final metamorphic stage for the bride - shedding an older self - and blossoming into the person she will be alongside her partner for the rest of her life.
WHO. WHAT. WEAR?
Every September and February we are hit by the hurricane of fashionistas for two whole weeks of creativity, and critique, during NYFW. People swarm to watch major global brands forecast the future of style while emitting their own messages about the world we live in today. Bridal fashion weeks carry a similar schedule only that they fall on different dates. October and April lend two weekends to give the romantics ideas for upcoming weddings.                                           (NY INTERNATIONAL BRIDAL WEEK)
Even though I can't say that, as of now, I'll ever be in a dress - never say never - I admire the beauty behind a wedding and the significance it plays in many peoples lives. I had the chance to attend this year's event and my mind was blown and I "died" at every sashay, every fringe, every petal that came down the runway. Meet the designers that showed their love for the industry and for the ladies they design for.
OVED COHEN
While being a household name in Israel for over twenty years, Oved Cohen has become known worldwide for his sexy cut-out wedding dresses and evening wear,  combining the young and the classic lines in a unique and original style. Brides searching for a sultry, black-tie wedding dress need look no further.
"My inspiration for the newest collection came after my trip in Hollywood, The sparkling, the glamour, and the overall sexy appeal spoke to my story."  -- Oved Cohen
As for today, the Israeli salon provides a unique custom-made experience for international customers, who give their exact measurements upon ordering and receive a custom gown created with these specified measurements, making each gown a custom piece of couture.
JENNYVI DIZON
Inspired by love and the world we live in, Jennvi proves that romance (along with silk and imported lace fabric from Europe) are the ingredients to her love potion that bring every dress to life.
"My current collection that will debut this upcoming Spring is inspired by the fleur-de-lis."  -- JennyVi
"As the story goes a French prince was being pressured to marry against his will by his father the king.   He had no interest to marry until one night he was riding along a path and saw a golden iris.  He got off his horse to look at it and when he did he noticed that there was a path of golden irises leading to a cottage.   He followed the path and knocked on the door.   When the door opened, it was opened by a beautiful maiden and he fell in love at first sight.   From that moment he knew that she was the one he would marry."
ENAURA BRIDAL + BLOSSOM VEILS
These days it seems as if spring and summer weddings are a thing of the past. Fall weddings are at an all time rise (popularly increasing) with winter weddings not far behind. This collection, creative director Sohil Mistry of Enaura Bridal, focused on chic boleros, capelets, and shrugs. Just because the temperature has sunk doesn't mean your style does.
" I created designs that complimented beaded gowns, lace gowns, and even the most simplest, minimal gowns - after all every gown could use an accessory."  - Sohil Mistry

"My inspiration of the newest collection came after my trip in Hollywood, The sparkling, the glamour, and the overall sexy appeal spoke to my story."  -- Oved Cohen

Keepin' it Cavalli. Fashion Month Launches in SoHo with a Collection Inspired by Mexican Artist: Frida Kahlo
Summers in the city can be “absent”. People leave early from work on Fridays for weekend getaways and Labor Day  is the unofficial last call for white pants, pastels, and rosé. As one chapter of the fashion calendar closes, a new one begins. Last week, Danielle Brooks (from Orange is the new Black), Estelle, and Bevy Smith took a night out on the town at the ‘Just Cavalli’ boutique located on West Broadway in Soho in celebration of the this fall's fashion month.
Making a round around the perimeters of Roberto Cavalli’s ‘Just Cavalli’ boutique I was immersed by a sensation of vibrant colors, bold prints, and an overall aura that exuded nature in its wildest state. Find out how art and fashion marry to put together this fall’s newest collection as I sit down with the fashion queen herself, Bevy Smith.
Yas Kween, Q+A with Bevy Smith
How does this speak to you and your lifestyle?
Bevy: It speaks to me as a woman who has a lot of events. On any given time of the year, I’m out 4 nights a week. I need to have something that looks good, looks chic and is always on trend. Most importantly, I want the outfits in my closet to last. I’d rather pay a little more for a timeless piece.
Anything else we should know about tonight and Cavalli?
I’m having a shopping event for my friends. All my friends are different shapes and sizes. It’s great to see a bonding experience through a brand that has opportunity for all!
Tell me a little bit about how you see yourself in this collection.
Bevy:  I’m a gal on the town from the hamlet of Harlem and I always say that my style is a little bit uptown meets Milan. I really love ‘Just Cavalli’ as a collection. I’ve always worn a lot of the main line Roberto Cavalli; the design aesthetic started to really mirror the mainline at an amazing price point.
How does this collection differ from others – what’s special to you about it?
Bevy: All the great geometric prints and patterns are reminiscent of Frida Kahlo. She was not afraid of color or patterns – that was kind of the feeling and spirit of ‘Just Cavalli’.
Special thanks to DJ Franco V for spinning the hot tracks of the night.
