Jim left Earth in search of his brother Sam as soon as he turned 18 and had saved enough money for a shuttle. He planned to catch up, after explaining to his brother what the hell he was thinking traveling through space on his own.

What he hadn’t planned on was the ship being over taken by pirates and turned into a sex slave on Vulcan. Or, after months of trying to escape, being sold to the royal family.

Even though this change of events threw a wrench in his plans, he still fully intended to get to Sam.

But he never bet on Spock being some what decent. Definitely not on becoming the prince’s friend. He refused to acknowledge any of the other feelings he had even if Spock was willing to admit to his own.

Sunlight in the Southern Water Tribe

I kind of like the idea that Zuko and the ZK kids, especially Kya, really love staying in the Southern Water Tribe, particularly in the seasons where the sun hangs in the air all day into the night. Wouldn’t firebenders enjoy that? Must feel really nice n.n It’s funny; I saw a bunch of Zutara people posting Southern Water Tribe Zuko and Katara lately, and I’ve had this drawing on the backburner for a while and I was like… the hive mind! I love all the parallel thinking in this community; it’s so fun XD So I finally finished this with a real quick background after working on the character drawings for far too long. Is what it is. :| But really, thank you to all the Zutara peeps who have made this year bearable (you know who you are n.n); I’m really grateful to all the friends made this year and hope for better times for everyone in the future.  Anyway, just some Southern Water Tribe Zutara with progeny for the winter season. My girlfriend and I talk a lot about our different generations of queerness, because she was doing queer activism in the 1990s and I wasn’t.

And she’s supportive of my writing about queerness but also kind of bitter about how quickly her entire generation’s history has disappeared into a bland “AIDS was bad, gay marriage solved homophobia” narrative, and now we’re having to play catch-up to educate young LGBTQ+ people about queer history and queer theory. It gets pretty raw sometimes.

I mean, a large part of the reason TERFs have been good at educating the young and queer people haven’t is, in the 80s and 90s the leading lights of TERFdom got tenured university positions, and the leading lights of queerdom died of AIDS.

“Excuse us,” she said bitterly the other day, not at me but to me, “for not laying the groundwork for children we never thought we’d have in a future none of us thought we’d be alive for.”
