A briefcase is a narrow box-shaped bag or case used mainly for carrying papers and other documents and equipped with a handle. Lawyers commonly use briefcases to carry briefs to present to a court, hence the name. Businesspeople and other professionals also use briefcases to carry important papers and, today, laptop computers.

Briefcases are descendants of the limp satchel used in the fourteenth century for carrying money and valuables. It was called a "budget", derived from the Latin word "bulga" or Irish word "bolg", both meaning leather bag (the Irish also means 'stomach'), and also the source of the financial term "budget".

Godillot of Paris was the first to use a hinged iron frame on a carpet bag, in 1826. There then followed the Gladstone bag and the Rosebery, an oval-top bag. Eventually these became the modern metal-framed briefcase. The first of what is known as the modern rectangular briefcase is said to have been invented in the late 1850s.

Leuchtturm 1917 has a collection of slim, light-weight notebooks. They fit the definition of a cahier according to Google - an exercise book or notebook – except they do not have the visible stitching on the spine that Americans often think of when they hear the word cahier.

A book shaped flower pot. It can be used both isolatedly and with books lined in order. It is made of PMMA and PVC for waterproofing. By opening the cover page it stands stably and you can see the soil inside. The title of the book is “The life of Plants."

If you can brave the long lines of Sigerson Morrison addicts and mustachioed artistes, you’ll find decent French-Moroccan food at this virtual elder statesman of cute Nolita hipster hangouts. Baked feta and a mix of olives and orange slices with crusty bread are easy ways to start off, and although the tagines can be little dry, the meatballs in spicy tomato sauce, with hard-boiled eggs, cucumber, and a drizzle of yogurt, are an inventive standout. But really, you’re not here for an epic meal—Gitane is all about sipping a glass of Bordeaux or shot of espresso while sitting at one of the sidewalk tables and ogling the fashionista traffic.

Objectified is a feature-length documentary about our complex relationship with manufactured objects and, by extension, the people who design them. It’s a look at the creativity at work behind everything from toothbrushes to tech gadgets. It’s about the designers who re-examine, re-evaluate and re-invent our manufactured environment on a daily basis. It’s about personal expression, identity, consumerism, and sustainability.

German Industrial designer, Dieter Rams, was closely associated with the consumer products company Braun and the Functionalist school of industrial design. He introduced the idea of sustainable development and of obsolescence being a crime in design in the 1970s. Accordingly he asked himself the question: is my design good design? The answer formed his now celebrated ten principles.
