“More than fighting and becoming strong, I want to make people happy. So whenever I manage to ease someone's tears, take away some of someone's loneliness, or just make them smile, I feel proud of myself.”

“Oh, I know! It's Seimei-sama's courtyard when there's no conflict. There would be good music in the air, a few spirits dancing, adults talking amongst themselves while children play. When the sun sets, everyone starts to leave, but before then it really feels like nothing could go wrong in the world. Whenever I think about it, I just want to go back.”

oh whoops did it seem that way? don’t worry, he’s not melting! what i meant is, yuki is made of ice, so cracks appear on him when he’s injured. he also doesn’t actually have blood, so he ‘bleeds’ water instead.

The cracks along his skin as well as the clear fluid which leaks out tell a different story, however. It was also true that it hurt, the pain slicing into him like cuts and stabs. Thus, his protest was a weak one, a lie, and he fell silent as he tried not to cry.

Here's what relationships I can think of so far:

Friends

Yuki Douji likes to make friends! Regardless of how deep those feelings go, if you are his friend, he'll cherish and protect you.

Mentor

Yuki Douji is still young, and inexperienced. His swordsmanship is wonderful, but it could be better, his skills with ice too could use work. But most of all, he needs to broaden his mind and understanding of the world. A mentor is just what he needs!

Enemies

It's incredibly hard to bring out Yuki Douji's rage, so if you've managed to do that, congratulations! He's now out for your head! Just wait until he gets his sword back! Jokes aside, he really hates anyone who'd threaten his friends and family. 

Found family

Family is warm, family is lovely. For someone without his own, to have one is everything to him. Anyone who'd like to be his mom, dad, big bro, big sis, dog, please let yourselves known. He would truly die for you.

Other

There's many more kinds of relationships than this, so if you have an idea, (of course it has to be appropriate for a 10 year old child) please feel free to bring it up!

Dyrn listens to the other explain what they were. A snow spirit? Dyrn couldn’t remember ever smelled something like that. It had smelled snow before, but that wasn’t often so that is why it didn’t get the others smell right away.

“Rurur? Gurrr.“ Dyrn let out a few more noises,they could offer to try and melt the other but they seemed nice. So they didn’t really want to melt the other, unless they tried to do anything that would go against the true order of things. 

At least, Dyrn thought just a little bit of snow not melting was fine. After all there was people who could use ice magic no matter what the temperature was.

Dyrn gave another squeak, before trying to get the other to pet them. They were curious about if the snow spirit was cold to the touch and pets were the easiest way to learn that.

The dragon now reminded Yuki Douji of a cat, how it seemed to beckon him for pats. Usually, he'd avoid direct physical contact, knowing his body temperature is so cold it come as a shock to most other beings. It could be dangerous too, as he's young and not totally in control of his powers, so even a touch could freeze. But since appearing in this city, his powers seemed to have died down. Of course, to be lacking in power concerned and scared him, but at this moment, it also meant he needn't worry about accidentally enveloping innocent people in ice.

"Hehe, I don't mean to make light of a dragon, but you're just so cute. Your master must be lucky to know you," a remark made with a smile, "I hope you don't mind the cold, then. Allow me to pat you."

Thus he obliged. He lifted his hand and patted the dragon gently on the head. He didn't touch the dragon too hard, for he knew the feeling of ice on skin wasn't a comfortable feeling for everyone. He doesn't expect fluffiness or softness from a dragon, but the feeling of bumpy, cool scales was quite nice too. Perhaps this happiness made him just a bit envious of those who could pat animals so freely.

Dyrn stopped its circle around the other to just flap their wings a bit in front of the other. They tilted their head still studying the person, but also listening to their words. Did Dyrn have a master and friends? Yes! they did.

“Rurur!“ They let out a happy squeak, doing a few extra happy flutters to show that yes they did. Though their master wasn’t here… but a few friends were! So they were still happy.

The ended up landing after that, all the wing flapping in one place would tire them out. So now they just looked up at the other, sniffing at them a bit. Just who were they? Dyrn wondered what the place they came from was like as well, seeing as it had to be somewhat different.

"I think I understand," he said a small smile, amused by watching the dragon flutter and squeak, "It's great that you're not alone. Loneliness would sadden even a dragon, I'm sure."

The dragon had been staring at him for quite a while, and now it's even sniffing at him. What's so wrong, he wondered to himself. Does he smell bad? No, he's quite clean, actually. He made sure of that before setting out. What else could this dragon smell? What he ate, what he drank--

Or, could it be, he himself smells strange? Certainly, he wasn't human, but a youkai. That term covers a lot of beings, the only commonality being that they are neither human nor animal. Yet even within snow spirits, Yuki Douji was an abnormality.

"You must be wondering what a snow spirit is doing outside of winter, right?" he asked, making sure of his thoughts. "I'm not sure myself, but somehow, I can't melt."
