its fucked up to see people who are around my age live through a genocide and have to market themselves as someone worthy of being saved to get people to donate to them.

it just seems so dehumanising. like is one supposed to worry about their current conditions or think up new marketing strategies.

no aid has been allowed in gaza in 70+ days. people are starving. it's so messed up to have to market oneself during all this in order to afford food.

it's heartbreaking to see young children going without proper food and nutrition.

The Siraj Family Under Fire

In the heart of the Gaza Strip, where no sound is louder than the sound of bombing, the Siraj family lives, breathing in fear and fighting to survive. Since the beginning of the war of extermination, their lives have become a series of constant flight; they have been displaced six times from house to house, from rubble to rubble, in search of shelter to protect them from the death that scatters in the sky.

The occupation targeted her home in November 2024, then she took refuge in an international school that was filled with displaced people, then to Al-Shifa Hospital, then to Rafah, then to eastern Khan Yunis, and now to Al-Mawasi. She lives in a dilapidated tent on top of the rubble of the house, which neither blocks the cold nor protects her from the heat.

Their greatest suffering is not just fear, but the hunger that has exhausted the bodies of their three children. They suffer from severe anemia, and their pale faces bear witness to nights without food and days without clean water or medicine. The father of the family, Khaled, carries his little daughter every morning in search of a drop of medicine or a morsel of food to keep her going, while the mother, Suhad, sews old clothes to provide some warmth.

Despite the pain, the family still clings to some hope. Siraj knows that every night has an end, and he tells his children stories of returning, of a new home, of a sky that doesn't rain fire... but kites.

you may have seen bisan's message about how palestinians – the disabled, the elderly, children, adults, everyone – are physically breaking down, if they haven't already, due to the complete deprivation of food and aid, including basic everyday things like flour and bread. many are literally faint with hunger, many are dying. a quick google search will show you the total devastation being wrought. the new york times continues to describe the circumstances in passive terms, without naming the perpetrator.

eyad's charity, ever mile, has been progressing thanks to all the campaigning he's doing, but he's struggling to keep up operations on top of caring for his family and the pace of the hunger being imposed on palestinians through israel's blockade.

Every day feels like it could be the last, and fear is no longer temporary—it’s a part of me now.

We are a family of ten trying to survive in northern Gaza, from my four year old sister to my sick grandmother. We are struggling, food is disappearing from the market and becoming more expensive, our landlord keeps increasing our rent for the single destroyed room we live in.

Yesterday, I had to buy glasses to soothe the terrible headaches I’ve been getting. Today, my eldest brother got into a traffic accident and thank God he survived, but he sustained fractures and had to be treated. It’s expenses upon expenses and our campaign, which is our only source of income, has become invisible again.

I think every computer user needs to read this because holy fucking shit this is fucking horrible.

So Windows has a new feature incoming called Recall where your computer will first, monitor everything you do with screenshots every couple of seconds and "process that" with an AI.

Hey, errrr, fuck no? This isn't merely because AI is really energy intensive to the point that it causes environmental damage. This is because it's basically surveilling what you are doing on your fucking desktop.

This AI is not going to be on your desktop, like all AI, it's going to be done on another server, "in the cloud" to be precise, so all those data and screenshot? They're going to go off to Microsoft. Microsoft are going to be monitoring what you do on your own computer.

Now of course Microsoft are going to be all "oooh, it's okay, we'll keep your data safe". They won't. Let me just remind you that evidence given over from Facebook has been used to prosecute a mother and daughter for an "illegal abortion", Microsoft will likely do the same.

And before someone goes "durrr, nuthin' to fear, nuthin to hide", let me remind you that you can be doing completely legal and righteous acts and still have the police on your arse. Are you an activist? Don't even need to be a hackivist, you can just be very vocal about something concerning and have the fucking police on your arse. They did this with environmental protesters in the UK. The culture war against transgender people looks likely to be heading in a direction wherein people looking for information on transgender people or help transitioning will be tracked down too. You have plenty to hide from the government, including your opinions and ideas.

Again, look into backing up your shit and switching to Linux Mint or Ubuntu to get away from Microsoft doing this shit.

How did we cope with hunger in Gaza and not perish until now?

It’s a very strange topic to discuss in the twenty-first century.

Since the Israeli military war began, a more brutal war has been waged alongside it: the war for food.

I don’t know where to start, as I really don’t want to remember anything that happened to us, but it’s necessary to talk about it to benefit from our experience, may God spare you from similar situations.

As men, we are the first line of defense in our family army against the aggression of the hunger war.

The first situation I suffered from was five months into the war. It was a critical time when we had been without food or flour for nearly a month. We were living off what remained of our bodies' fat, some barley, and animal food.

It was a very cold night. Finally, we received a food ration from a charity, which was a bag of flour.

My family rejoiced and prayed, but I sat lamenting my fate. I saw how these rations were distributed; it was extremely chaotic. The queue, oh the queue! I swear the line stretched over 3 kilometers of people.

My turn was scheduled for nine o'clock the next morning. You can imagine that I had to leave at sunset that day to spend the night on the street to secure a place in the queue, otherwise, I wouldn’t receive anything.

I was overwhelmed by three pains:

The hell of children's hunger.

The hell of the queue and the cold.

And the hell of war.

By the way, the military war is nothing compared to what I mentioned above.

I indeed burdened myself with clothes, took my mattress to sleep on, and carried the water bottle for which I had stood in another queue to obtain.

I bid farewell to my family and left. I am Mahmoud, a computer engineer with soft skin. Imagine, my dear, imagine the fear that overwhelmed me.

I truly did not sleep and sat waiting for my turn until it finally came, and I received my ration. It was the most exhausting day of my life, but it became bearable when I returned to my family and found them eating.

My mother suggested a way to eat. Each of us would only get one loaf of bread throughout the day. She said: "Eat half of the meal you usually eat over a longer period. If you eat half a loaf for breakfast in 10 minutes, eat a quarter of a loaf in half an hour. The effect will be as if you ate half a loaf."

Indeed, the method was very, very effective.
