i love how there’s the genre of fix-it fic where the author goes into great granular detail of how our heroes manage to avoid or undo whatever character death or other unpopular choice occurred, in a way that abides by the laws of the fictional universe and definitely required a substantial plot outline, and then there are fix-it fics where the author just went “that’s bullshit and didn’t happen,” and we as readers all go “agreed. carry on.”

So there's nothing left for Danny in Beacon Hills?

You know what they could have done? Given the storyline they created for new guy Liam to Danny.

Lets say Scott had accidentally injured Danny (except more accidentally, because no one’s allowed to hurt Danny even ‘accidentally on purpose’ just ‘actually accidentally’). And it was Danny who was in the hospital at the same time as the Wendigo kid, and it was Danny that got pushed over the edge, and it was Danny that Scott had to bite to stop from falling.

You know how much MORE emotional that scene would have been in that scenario? We’d all have lost our minds.

Danny as Scott’s first bitten Beta. The only kid that was smart enough to stay out of the supernatural still getting pulled in, oh the tragic irony. And you any idea how GUILTY Scott would feel? Oh and look at that reason to bring Jackson back for his short guest appearance? And wouldn’t that bring us back to the first season only now Danny’s the Scott of the situation? And look it should also bring him closer together with Lydia, because she knows exactly what he’s going through too. And a little funny between the tragedy because while Scott and Stiles are stammering over the explanation Danny’s glaring at them because he damn well knows already. And doesn’t that just all fit so nicely?

Would I feel sad that they turned the only fully human teen left to us? Yeah, probably. But it’s SO MUCH BETTER THAN TAKING HIM AWAY.
