defending sirius from the bad, reckless godfather allegations once again bc rmb how this man was sending daily owls before the last task (an increase from his already frequent owling throughout the yr)

Like Hermione, he seemed to want to concentrate on getting Harry through the last task, before they concerned themselves with anything else. He reminded Harry in every letter that whatever might be going on outside the walls of Hogwarts was not Harry’s responsibility, nor was it within his power to influence it.

then on the morning of,

The post owls appeared, bringing Harry a good-luck card from Sirius. It was only a piece of parchment, folded over and bearing a muddy paw print on its front, but Harry appreciated it all the same.

this man wasn’t fucking around with his responsibility as a godfather, or his attention to harry’s troubles. he was constantly advising harry to be prudent and stay safe within hogwarts.

‘You’d better get back to school,’ Sirius said, getting to his feet. ‘Now, listen …’ he looked particularly hard at Harry – ‘I don’t want you lot sneaking out of school to see me, all right? Just send notes to me here. I still want to hear about anything odd. But you’re not to go leaving Hogwarts without permission, it would be an ideal opportunity for someone to attack you.’ ‘No one’s tried to attack me so far, except a dragon and a couple of Grindylows,’ Harry said. But Sirius scowled at him. ‘I don’t care … I’ll breathe freely again when this Tournament’s over, and that’s not until June. And don’t forget, if you’re talking about me among yourselves, call me Snuffles, OK?’

sirius was in tip-top form both as a person and a parental figure in gof. no misplacing his love for james onto harry here, no sir.

and it’s a shame people continually overlook that in favour of his darker, low moments in ootp (where grimmauld echoed azkaban and the man is rightfully depressed) but harry himself empathises with sirius’ predicament

‘Yeah, he did hate it!’ said Harry, his voice cracking, turning his back on Dumbledore and walking away. [...] ‘You made him stay shut up in that house and he hated it, that’s why he wanted to get out last night –’ ‘I was trying to keep Sirius alive,’ said Dumbledore quietly. ‘People don’t like being locked up!’ Harry said furiously, rounding on him. ‘You did it to me all last summer –’

Remus scratched his quill against the parchment, scribbling unreadable notes as he stared to another desk just a few metres away.

"I think you're going to end up writing through the paper and onto the desk if you carry on."

Remus blinked, looking to James before frowning as he set his gaze on his maimed notes.

James smugly grinned, leaning back in his seat slightly, "So, Sirius is still hanging out with Florence, huh?"

"Looks like it", Remus tried to mutter like it didn't matter to him.

James' grin grew, and he leaned even further back, "Did you know she asked him out last week? He turned her down, but they've got a joint project to do for care of magical creatures."

"Sirius didn't mention that", Remus coughed.

"Hm," his smug friend hummed, scrunching up a piece of Remus' parchment into a ball and leaning further back.

He chucked the ball towards Sirius, hitting him in the face.

Sirius glanced up with a frown, quickly replaced by a grin as he noticed James and Remus staring at him.

The boy quickly got out his chair and sauntered over to his friends, slipping into an empty chair at their table.

"Merlin, I'm bored. What are you two doing here?"

James shrugged, "Keeping Remus company as he does his charms homework. But, I saw you over there with Florence and suddenly I realised just how beautiful she is."

Sirius snorted, resting his arm against the chair's backrest, "Please, go ask her out. She won't stop hounding me about why I rejected her, like I'd ever date someone that doesn't even know the classification of a doxy."

Remus glanced down to his notes as he muttered, "They're classed as triple X."

Sirius' eyes drifted to Remus, the corners of his lips lifting in amusement.

James whistled absentmindely and stood up, making his way over to Florence with a wink to Remus as he went.

"So", Sirius tilted his head, "We haven't really been alone in a while."

"We haven't," Remus agreed, "Since, um."

"Since we kissed?"

Remus went a bright red and glanced around, making sure no one was in earshot.

"Yeah, uh, since then."

Sirius tilted his head, "Well, I for one, liked it."

"You did? I haven't really- with many people."

"I could tell," Sirius barked a laugh, "But it was you, of course I liked it."

Remus frowned, confused, "Wait, then why were we avoiding each other?"

"Moony," Sirius moved his leg to gently press against Remus', "You were the one who apologised and then ran out of the room."

"Sorry."

Sirius grinned, "Another apology, are you going to run away again?"

"No," Remus slightly shook his head.

"Good."

Sirius took ahold of Remus' sleeve and pulled his arm off the desk, then clasped his hand in his own underneath the privacy of the desk.

"So," Sirius shuffled his chair even closer, "Where are you so far with the essay?"

lily evans headcanons for lily evans week <3

doesn’t pet black cats (has a superstition against them)

tucks her hair behind her ear obsessively when she’s anxious

her nails are naturally long, but she never wears nail polish

(canon) has startlingly green eyes, it’s her feature that draws the most attention and brings her the most compliments

her favourite shoes are loafers, and she has a pair of brown ones that she always wears with her uniform

her favourite perfumes are vanilla and raspberry scented

(speaking of, prefers vanilla to chocolate)

unironically likes jean skirts, as long as they’re longer than thigh-length (prefers them knee-long)

doesn’t like jokes about things that people cannot control (class, race, body, etc). she considers them to be idiotic and completely unamusing
