Okay, so that's not the attitude Kat expected a famous Phantom Thief to have. Actually, it's not entirely off, it's more like... well, he seems to be in an awful bit of a hurry, doesn't he?

Now that she's got the adrenaline out of her system - though her heart still hasn't stopped racing quite yet - Kat's actually a little embarrassed about how easily she started gushing praise. Calling him cool... it was pretty cool, the way he saved her, and it's not like he doesn't deserve it, but Kat's got her pride to think about, too! Either way, she doesn't quite want to let him go just yet, but maybe it can't be helped...

Although, actually-

"What's with the rush? Are you that embarrassed?" She wants to tease him a bit, hypocritical as it is, but first, time to test a theory. "There was a kid with me, you know. He called himself Daisuke. Shouldn't you be making sure he's alright, too?"

"I'm worried about him." A lie, sort of, but hopefully one that pokes enough at Dark's conscience to make him hesitate.

uh . uh oh .

there's a serious problem starting to rear its head : he was still no good at talking . sure , waking up dark's actual consciousness wasn't out of the cards , but did he really have to do something like that ?! it wasn't a question of whether he was or wasn't dark , but that he was supposed to be --- his family had told him over and over again , and even anxious , he still felt stubborn ; he didn't need to defer to dark for something like this .

surprise still tugs at his expression at her enthusiasm --- ' h-hey , one question at a time ... ! ' if she had the energy to be this excited , then she couldn't have been hurt at all , right ? that was one exasperated worry swept away , though he's left with a heavy , beleaguered feeling on his shoulders . even though he had tried to warn her , to think that things had still come to this . at least she thought everything was cool ...

it makes him happy , maybe even happier than it should . yet he's quick to chide himself ; letting just one compliment go straight to his head was no good , no matter how rare they were supposed to be from anybody . what would dark have said in these sorts of circumstances , anyways ?! ( he knows exactly what , actually --- but it was too embarrassing , he really wasn't sure if he could do any of it ... ! )

' o-oh , ' he clears his throat ; steady , easy . ' so you've heard of me ? ' that was safe , wasn't it ?! if it were dark , he would have easily returned her tease with a bold flirt , something like --- even though this is the first time i'm seeing such a cute face as yours , complete with a touch and angle upwards of her chin , but that was --- ugh ! it was blech !

it's obvious he's in a hurry to leave , flashing a polite yet nervous smile as he tries to inch away . rather than answer any of her questions , he starts to speak on his own . ' look , uh --- little lady . the guards are going to be riled up for a while , so go home as soon as you can , and don't wear the same clothes for a week . don't do something like this again either , it's dangerous ... ! '

he wants to hope that his warning wasn't a lost cause , but something about kat's attitude wasn't giving him much hope . if he ended up with yet another innocent person chasing him around during every heist , he wasn't sure what he'd do . ' i've gotta go back --- ' quick . he's leaving all too quickly , isn't he ? ' err , it was nice meeting you . see ya . be good --- ! '

Sorry, but how exactly is Kat supposed to respond to that? ...Is what she thinks to herself as she stands there with a disbelieving expression, the conversation suddenly thrown totally off-script from her expectations. But the moment only lasts briefly before she bursts into laughter; amused beyond belief.

"Oh, is that right? A demon hunter, huh?" That's gotta be the funniest thing that Kat's heard all week. Seriously! It's hard to decide if she wants to make fun of him or go along with it - obviously, what he's saying is nonsense, but surely he's got to be aware of that, right? On the other hand, though... his joke doesn't actually make him any less suspicious. Maybe she shouldn't jump so quickly to pissing off an adult man who's almost twice her size... even if it is quickly getting hard to take him seriously at all.

"Sure. If you say so." she responds after a second, clearly not believing him, but not having let down her guard, either. "Well, if you ask me, you should start with the teachers. It wouldn't surprise me if some of them are devils in disguise."

After all, what human could give out that much homework and still have a soul? More importantly, though, if he goes to bother them, they should be able to handle it if he does have any nefarious intentions.

[{ 🗡️ }] - "I'm well aware of where I am. I wouldn't be here without a reason for it." The half-devil simply replied.

Vergil knew what to expect, a man who was an outsider to an all-girls school, but he wouldn't just go to a private girls-only school for nothing. There was a student here who didn't appear to be the person they pretended to be; a succubus demon was disguising itself as a human girl, so his target would be the girl who had the most relationships, which would be his clue to telling him where it was.

Because the girl standing before him had confronted him, Vergil had no choice but to explain his reason for being here. However, he had his doubts that she would understand; he just hoped she would. He had come so close, and finding his way here took a while, so he wasn't going to just turn tail and leave when he was finally at the right location of his target.

[{ 🗡️ }] - "I'm a devil hunter. So perhaps you can assist me. There's a girl at this school who is not who they claim to be. Instead, she's a demon disguised in human skin. Considering the extent of her powers, my target would be someone popular with a long track record of relationships."

Well, at least this girl's aware of her reputation. Kat had planned to prod at her a bit about it, being the kind of person she is, but outside of the potential to be nosy, Kat isn't actually particularly bothered by the things people have been saying. After all, Kat has quite the reputation of her own herself - one she's quite proud of, as a matter of fact. Though she suspects that other people wouldn't quite think that's a good thing.

Still; she's distracted from that line of thinking when Momo brings up her birthday out of nowhere. She must've seen her little impromptu celebratory moment... man, that's a bit embarrassing, honestly.

"What's it to you? Hoping to join in celebrating the most important day of the year?" Kat asks jokingly, recovering quickly. Of course, she doesn't actually mean it - her sense of self-importance isn't that inflated, and she can't imagine this girl has any reason to be invested in someone she doesn't know at all. But it's fun to tease anyway. And it is an important day as far as Kat's concerned.

"I hope you didn't forget to bring a present."

Ack! Momo regretted peeking when she shouldn't be. She wasn't aware someone was there in the first place. Due to her strange "experiences", she had a habit to inspect what most people would shrug off. It didn't help that she assumed she could have seen something secret and personal...

Birthday? It's her birthday? She wouldn't say her birthdays were extravagant or exaggerated with cheer or joy. A good meal with good company in that kind of day would be more than enough. She could have been jumping to conclusions, but she thought that no one ever deserved to celebrate their birthday by themselves. However, it was from being stuck in her own reverie that she ended up getting caught...

"O-Oops!" Oops? Really? That's the best I had to say? Now I'd just look even more suspicious! "Ha-ha! Sorry, don't mind me. I happened to be passing by-" It was only another moment later that she realized that the other seemed to be somewhat familiar with Momo.

"Huh? People are talkin' about me? Lemme guess, not for really good reasons, huh?" When she realized the conversation was directed towards her, when there was something more important at hand, she shook her head in a dismissive fashion. "But before that, it's your birthday, right?"

"Uh, are you sure you're in the right place?"

As Kat looks on at the stranger, it couldn't be more obvious that she's incredibly unimpressed. She stands with folded arms and glares at him head-on, though the furrowing of her brow ruins the intimidation factor a little - as does the fact that she's clearly just a kid. It seems like maybe she's studying him, trying to get a read on him, but... she evidently doesn't like what she sees.

"This is a girl's school, you know. And I've never seen you around before."
