Friday !!!!!! feels good to get back to North Carolina, even got back in time to hit the gym. managed to catch a 5 mile run yesterday, my first run since the South Carolina beast over the previous weekend. Happy to say that I had zero issues, further confirming my suspicions around the nutrition leading up to the race causing my cramping debacle. all that said, today I did all the benchpress… All of the dips… All of the curls(in the squat rack of course) and then all of the damn Ab crap. now I'm gonna go home and eat all of the candy(I got a thing for milk duds) #spartanrace #spartantraining @compedgeperformance @crossfitcb #chubbyisthenewstrong #istubbedmytoetakingthisselfie

This weekend last year… I was finishing up a grueling and agonizing year of training to overcome defeat handed to me by killington in 2015. Too date, it still stands the hardest and most awe inspiring event I've ever encountered in OCR. Even though I overcame the DNF in 2016 I will never forget the day that started the journey. I absolutely hate failure but I hate not responding to it even more. .... ..Even more than weighted lunges @tony_cowden So good luck to everyone that's going to be on that mountain this weekend, I'd like to say that I'm jealous and wish I was with you… But I'm OK because I'm done with that mountain, working on others now. good luck to everyone racing in the homeland, look forward to hearing all the good stories. #spartanrace #spartantraining #hybridaf @compedgeperformance @crossfitcb

This here is my pretty face...... you guys should all feel special, I don't share it with just anyone. rough day today… Decided to jog to and from the gym today, given the 90° plus heat the return trip was a bit of a pain in the ass, guess I should be used to that. so today's work: Run 3 miles Bench press: work up to have a triple bench press: 4×6 at 80% of triple ( shoulder press x 6 & dips x 6 ) x 5 run 3 miles I'm actually getting used to doing all of this at the reduced calorie rate… 1800 cal a day only goes so far and not much of it goes to my sunny disposition, but slowly the wicked bitch of the west attitude is disappearing. #roadto200 #spartanrace #spartantraining #hybridaf @compedgeperformance @crossfitcb

It's been quite a while since me and the drag sled spend some quality time together, this thing really kicks your ass. today's cardio was 60 minutes or so of steady-state free choice, not sure why I opted to throw this in at the end of it as there wasn't much that was easy about it in the final 10 minutes. 15 pounds down now in my road to 200, I can already feel a huge difference from my carrying weight at the Asheville super. Virginia is right around the corner… It would be great to be rolling that mountain at around 210 versus the 230 I carried into Asheville. i've had some folks ask me why I'm trying to get down to 200 and the reason is next year I have plans to run in the UWharri 100 K. this is a 62 mile trail run through the UWharri mountains of North Carolina..... And it's a real bitch of a race. My carrying wait at the starting line of the Killington ultra beast this past year was 205, I'd like to hit the starting line just a little leaner for this one giving the extra mileage. 2000 cal a day and still putting in for weight training workouts makes this very difficult, which is why am starting now for something occurring next year. some of the best advice I ever got… "Set goals, train towards them" @tony_cowden #spartanrace #spartantraining #hybridaf #roadto200 @compedgeperformance
