Naida still couldn't believe her eyes regarding the food. There was so much that she has never tasted before, so much she has never heard of before, and all that she was more than ready to try for herself. The only problem was that, she wasn't sure what to start off with. The baker stood there, her dark hazel eyes gleaming happily, while she hummed along to the music. Hearing the words, she shook her head first. Her eyes remaining on the delectable dishes. "I cannot say I have, though I am eager to try both. I grew up close to the Caspian Sea and I am still more use to our own variety." Glancing up, her eyes widened and she smiled warmly, albeit sheepishly. "Oh! Mister Drake." She curtsied, then paused. "Or, are you Mister Thorpe now? I don't believe I caught that from before. But congratulations on your marriage! I hope you and Mister Tobias are truly happy together. My wife and I are honoured to be here and celebrate you two today."

ON THE SEA THERE WAS NO SUCH EXTRAVAGANCE AS WHAT WAS ON HIS BOAT TO CELEBRATE THE MARRIAGE. No expense was spared with every luxury made in deliberate showing to the rest of society a preview of the extent of his wealth. A celebration for the first marriage of the season but it was something that Piet saw as a way to introduce himself to those he had yet to meet. A good, strong, reputation followed him with the surprise of the union but there was ways that he wanted to be known. βThe fruit looks more pleasing to most but the lobster and bonefish are my favourite of the selection. Have you had it before?β In the last ship owned, it was a lucky day when they had something other than salted beef and dried beans.

"Marjorie!" she exclaimed happily. After their impromptu wedding all those years ago in another country, Naida had been worried for quite some time that her new Hermance family would not be happy. She was grateful that she was able to call them her family.
She nodded, looking about the ship. "Quite, yes. I've sailed a few times before. Primarily my voyage here when I was eight and ten. It is most wonderous during the day, but I would grow quite fearful come night." Soon, a soft yet sheepish smile graced her lips. "Though... knowing Theo is here does ease my nerves quite extensively."

She managed to catch up a bit with her sister's wife on the ship, admiring the craftsmanship of the deck as she strolled along.
"I've never been on a ship before, it is quite lovely is it not? Though I'm not really adoring of it when the seas get a bit bumpy. How about you Naida?" She asked with a smile before gazing out at the sea surrounding the ship.

"My wife," she exhaled. Her dark hazel eyes brightening at the sight of the woman. Despite the near nine years since the Hermance woman came into her life, her heart never ceased to beat so rapidly and happily the moment Theo came into view. Even when the two were purely friends, the sight of her or the sound of her voice never failed to bring an unmeasurable amount of happiness to her. Theodosia merely needed to exist, to breathe, to think, to sigh, or even to yawn and the eldest Gamzatova would be happy. Just knowing that she was in this world was more than enough for her. It has been that way since they were eight and ten. And she knew that it would be so to their last moments of breath.
Though, she often found herself wondering if she did the same for her. If her heart also raced happily knowing that Naida existed. It has been rather... difficult, she should say, regarding their marriage. For quite some time now. She wasn't entirely sure what needed to be done, but she was doing everything in her power to ensure Theo was happy. In some form or way. Knowing that her greatest love was happy, made her happy. Even if there has been something that she has been wanting for quite some time now. Even though there was something that she knew would bring such great happiness to her, something that she has desired for as long as she could remember. Something that she hoped the other woman was equally waiting for in anticipation.
She still needed to find the right time to tell her that she believed now could be a good time to start working towards growing their family. That she wished so much to be a mother and to have a baby with Theodosia. That she couldn't imagine such a life with anyone else. And yet, with everything, there never felt like a good opportunity to tell her. Perhaps there never will be.
But now with the celebrations ongoing, she wanted to ensure that they had a beautiful night together. That they could dote on each other and share a night of love together. So the moment she saw her love after mingling with some other guests, everything inside her became lighter.
She laughed softly at her words. Taking her side next to her, shoulder to shoulder, her lips in a brilliant beam. "Me? Attempt to push you overboard? Why, I would never dream of such an action... Unless I were to jump in after you and we could pretend to be each other's mermaids for awhile." She giggled softly as she teased back. Theo was the only one who has ever been able to pull this side out of her. It was a side she hadn't known existed until they met. Gazing at the brunette, she found it impossible to look anywhere else. "It's been quite lovely, indeed. Though I've yet to meet the man who has made Tobias Thorpe an honest man."
Ever since the new law, she often wondered what a wedding celebration could've been like for them. Though, she knew it wouldn't be on such a grand scale. Quiet, intimate, wonderfully them. "Perhaps we could have one ourselves with our loved ones?" she offered, moving to caress some loose strands behind her ear. "If you wish it, of course." While Naida wasn't one to make a fuss about herself, she was more than ready to share her devotion to Theodosia to the world.
Naida's cheeks reddened at her compliment, yet she couldn't tear her eyes away from her. "If anyone is the most beautiful, it is certainly you, my love." Her words were soft as she drew nearer. Kissing her shoulder, then her neck, then her jaw, then her cheek. Completely and happily ignoring the rest of the world so that she could bathe in her wife's light. "And yes, I am absolutely biased," she whispered in her ear.
Her smile grew at the touch of her fingers. And she turned her hand around so that she could intertwine them, bringing their joined hands together to kiss her knuckles. Perhaps tonight, everything could be beautiful. Perfect. "I am the luckiest person in the world to be married to you, Lady Theodosia Hermance Gamzatova."

theodosia stood at the edge of the deck, gloved hands clasped neatly before her, her gaze drawn out across the darkening sea as the ship swayed gently beneath her slippers. the evening air carried the mingled scent of salt and spiced wine, laughter trailing like ribbons from the upper decks where the celebration was in full swing. candlelight shimmered on the waterβs surface, catching the motion of the waves and making them dance like polished silk. it was all rather lovelyβlavish in that thorpe fashion that always bordered on theatrical, but still charming in its own way.
she turned slightly at the sound of approaching footsteps, recognizing them before she even lifted her eyes. naida. always graceful, always certain in her stride, always the one to make the world still when everything else felt too loud.
βmy love,β theodosia said softly, offering a small smile as her wife came to her side. βyouβve not yet tried to push me overboard. i must say, iβm impressed. i was certain youβd take the opportunityβwhat with the plank so conveniently placed and all.β
her tone was mild, nearly amused. a glint of mischief flickered in her pale eyes before vanishing just as quickly beneath her usual composed veneer. she glanced back out at the horizon, her voice quieter now, warmer. βstill, i am glad we came. itβs nice, is it not? to be among familiar facesβthough iβll admit, the vows did leave me feeling as though i ought to recite a few lines of devotion myself. perhaps we missed our moment with all our escaping.β
she leaned lightly against the railing, the sea breeze tugging loose strands from her pinned-up hair. βbut you look beautiful tonight. more so than anyone here. not that iβm biased.β a pause, then, with a sidelong glance and the barest twitch of her lips. βif i am to be sentenced to the plank, let me at least fall to my doom knowing i married the finest woman in the room.β
her fingers brushed naidaβs, tentative. waiting. testing the waters in more ways than one.

Getting To Know You...
Naida is the distant cousin of the Sinclairs. Her mother is originally from Kumykia in the Caucasus Mountains but was adopted when she was younger. During her first season, she happened to be matched with a man also from her hometown and the two fell in love. Moving back to their original homeland so that they could raise their family there, connected to their land and culture.
Despite their family's wealth, they lived a rather humble life. They did everything together, between cooking their meals to tending to their home, there was nothing they didn't do themselves.
For as long as she could remember, she loved being able to take care of things. Cooking, baking, tending to the family garden, creating blankets; she knew that she was ready to become a wife and have a family of her own, to take care of them and to love them. With her parents, she grew up knowing what a perfect love was like. And she wanted it so much.
As soon as she was old enough to start her first season, she came to Mayfair to stay with her distant cousins and partake in her first season there. While she had numerous matches, no one touched her heart the way Miss Theodosia Hermance did.
She fell in love with the woman as soon as she saw her. She knew that she was her soulmate, the kind that poets wrote about. Even after she married another, her love for her friend only grew.
Theodosia heading to war as a nurse broke her heart, but she didn't want her friend to believe that she was wanting to control her or to indicate as to what she could do with her life. And yet, something was... different after she returned. While she ached for her friend becoming a widow due to the war, she admittedly was most happy when she married her. Ready to dote on her wife and give her a happy marriage and life together.
These past few years, Naida has worked hard to make Theodosia happy and comfortable. Especially after what happened to her father and how she took her to the country so that she could work on becoming happy again.
All Naida wants is for her wife to be happy. But, deep down, she feels as though she is failing her. Or worse: that her wife is happier without her around. It's incredibly heartbreaking to realize that, and she hopes that she is wrong.
Especially now that for the past year, she's been contemplating ways for them to grow their family. Yet she hasn't told her wife that she wishes for them to have a baby. She just wishes that their marriage could become better before a child is brought into their family. If they have a child together.

Connections...
The Sinclair and Hermance Families: Whether already in play or with intentions to bring them in, I would love to do any and all plotting regarding these families!
Past Matches: I'd love to work on some past matches Naida would've had before she was matched with and married Theodosia! Theo is Naida's first and only love, but I figure that she would still be friends with her matches all these years! (Taken by Amos Locke)
General Connections: Friends, enemies, acquaintances (either positively or negatively), those who knows about her secretly being a great lover of cooking and baking, anything and everything!
