Logan: I wouldn't say everything, but he's exceptional at being stoned sure.

Logan: It's just an audition. Although, the director specifically asked for you two so if you want it, it's basically yours.

Logan: I think this would be a great opportunity for you guys. But it would also look good for the movie. Having two big netflix stars debuting their acting career in it.

          margo rolls her eyes, “obviously. who’s number is this?”   probably from the minute she met logan, she was stuck with her for life. very few people are capable of that sort of attachment with margo let alone so quickly. instantaneously, despite the lack of smiling and dry humor, she thought logan was the epitome of cool. maybe even because of her humor.  it did help that she was also her idol’s daughter. luckily, margo hadn’t found that out for months into their friendship. she’s never told logan – not directly, at least – how cool she thought she was. likely, she never would.           but, she came close to saying it after this gift she’s been given. “what?” margo is speechless. there aren’t very many words in the english language to depict how ecstatic she was. “a facetime?” she can only seem to repeat whatever logan says for a moment. margo shakes her head, trying to ground herself. though her voice is an octave higher, and a dead give away that she just might explode. “i’m gonna die.” she almost felt lightheaded. “this is insane. you’re letting me? call your mom– she knows it’s my birthday? what?” she finally looks up at the other, “…i’m about to hug you.”   she says, as if the other needed fair warning before margo wraps her in a huge embrace. 

Logan wasn’t like her friends. Their differences is probably why she liked them though. The thought of not having them is daunting. Luckily, it’s something that she hasn’t had to deal with. In the beginning, Elvie was just some poor kid about to get fired. He was such a mess. It didn’t matter how hard he tried to get it right, it didn’t matter if he was nice. He was a shitty waiter. Back then, Logan was a rich kid with a shitty job to make her feel normal. She had everything together. It didn’t matter how little she cared or how cold she was. She was great at faking it. The friendship shouldn’t have worked, but it did. There was a missing part of the story though. The part where Logan met Margo for the first time. Elvie was her friend, he probably would’ve been no matter what. But. When he introduced her to Margo, Logan registered just how much she wanted these people in her life.

When she met Margo, she felt something for the first time in her life. A need she’d never quite had. She wanted Margo to like her. She wanted Margo to need her the way Elvie did. Maybe that was selfish in a selfless kind of way. But that’s when she started taking charge in their lives. Offering to help with their videos, showing them her editing software, getting snacks in the middle of the night. She’d never tell either of them, but she’d always be just a little thankful that this nerdy anti-ghost girl caught her attention. “I think you need to calm down. It’s just a video chat. It’s not a bi-” Logan begins to respond, although she promptly shut up at the other’s warning. Her nose scrunched up. Hugs. Not usually her thing. But also not something she’s going to turn down on her best friend’s birthday. Margo’s arms promptly wrap around her. A moment of hesitation passes before Logan slowly does the same. “Yeah. Okay. Hugs... are fine.” She mumbled quietly before releasing the hold and waiting for the other to do the same.  “Happy Birthday.”

          in recent years, she has begun to dread december 13th coming around. she isn’t getting any younger. before she knows it, she’ll look up one day and realize she’s 30-something still hunting ghosts for a living. she couldn’t tell whether or not that was a good thing. it just seemed to be the direction her life was going in.   still, margo kind of liked her birthday. not nearly as much as halloween but, she has always appreciated the little things her friends and family did for her every year. she never expects anything out of the people she loves. that would be insane. to her, quiet happy birthdays and a cup of hot chocolate is a good enough.           logan showing up at her front door with a ‘happy birthday, nerd’ was a good enough gift. that’s all she really wanted, anyway, just the small sign of recognition. “thank you, dweeb.” she says with a smile and a short nod. margo’s brows furrow as the other pulls out a crumbled piece of paper and hands it too her. “uh… what’s this?” she asks, though there’s still a half grin on her lips. it’s weird, for sure. 

“It’s clearly a phone number, Mar.” Logan replied simply. “You’re supposed to be the smart one.” That last part is clearly just a bit of teasing. Thank god Margo knows her well enough to pick up on it. There had been plenty of incidents with other people when it came to Logan’s rather blunt and dry sense of humor. It would be easier to pick up on her jokes if she ever smiled or even said I’m kidding. But that’s simply not who she is. The girl has been fairly deadpan for most of her life and her humor follows the same path. Elvie is great and definitely knows her well, but Margo is the only one who picks up on her jokes 100% of the time. 

One leg is thrown over the back of the couch, the other pushing her up and over. Sitting on the top, her feet finally land on the cushion, her eyes falling on Margo. Logan’s never been one for big surprises or climactic moments, so she isn’t going to give her time to try to figure it out. “It’s my mom’s phone number.” She explained simply. This is a simple gift. That being said, it’s also a gift she would only trust Margo with. Elvie might call it and ask absurd questions. And everyone else--- Well, they didn’t matter. Maybe Astrea, but she didn’t exactly care about this stuff the way they did. “She’s expecting you to facetime her sometime today. You know so she can say happy birthday or whatever.”

Logan had never been a huge fan of birthdays. For the first two years of friendship, Margo and Elvie didn’t even know hers. She wasn’t the type to celebrate or to throw a party or to go over extravagant with gifts. That being said, she’d never missed any Monster Squad Birthday. That was a given though. No matter how little she cared about birthdays, it never out weighed how much she did care for Elvie and Margo. The spooky king had his little celebration though. He got to enjoy some fright fest tickets, friendship and candy. Perhaps, it wasn’t the more extravagant gift but it was something she knew he’d want. Margo was a little harder. She wasn’t exactly materialistic, plus there wasn’t any upcoming events for December in Miami.

So after much debating, she decided on a rather unconventional gift. To Logan? It was probably the worst gift in the world, but she had a hunch that it would be pretty good in Margo’s eyes. And god forbid it wasn’t, she’d just make it up to her with another present later. “Happy Birthday, Nerd.” The words leave her lips the second she gets to Margo’s apartment. There was a time when Logan always knocked but eventually she learned the way of Melvie and accepted that it was just easier to come right in. Reaching into her pocket, she pulled out a crumbled piece of paper and handed it to Margo. “There ya go.”
