she nods back in greeting, "yes, daxton, i just spoke with her. i'm sending extra guards to watch over the high family, instructing them to keep them all inside for now." leandra tells him, keeping up the mask of professionalism she's known for. even if daxton isn't her favorite person, she values his skills and knows they need to work together to secure their court, "have you learned anything of interest? anything that i should know?" she lets out a breath, "i wish only for no more surprises." though, she thinks she won't be so lucky.
𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 : @ofcovrts / leandra
it wasn’t much a secret that leandra was not his favorite person. daxton had never quite put his finger on it, but he would rather avoid his second in command than share time with the other. however, dax was also a respectful spymaster, and he knew he had to be polite to the person who ranked higher than him in the inner circle. “ leandra. ” he greets upon seeing the other in the hall. “ have you spoken to our high lady yet ? ”

leandra hummed, shrugging a shoulder gracefully at the other and replying, "i may not miss you, but i know that the people would." and she could not deny that alina was a good leader — better than her father had been, at any rate — and she feared that if alina were not in charge then whoever took her place may not meet the challenge. she was in charge for a reason, just as leandra was, and she would not deny her high lady that. "i understand, my lady. though, if you insist upon being so visible, i insist that you stay close to me." not for leandra's benefit, that was to be quite sure, but for safety reasons and for strategy reasons, she figured it would be best that she not let the high lady stray far from her. they needed one another in these trying times, even if she was loathe to admit such a thing were true. even in her distaste, leandra was well-aware that together they were more powerful than they were apart. years of work and collaboration had proven that much and she was not about to break something that had worked so well so far.
"i have conferred with a few of the other commanders as well." albeit, not completely on purpose, in some cases, the opportunity seemed to just fall into her lap. and though her main concern was with her own court, she valued the opinions of the other seconds in command and knew that being on the same page as them was wise. "i do not have any reason to believe that we are in imminent danger, but i will not let my guard down. none of us will let our guard down." she had not let her guard down since they arrived at the capital and she was sure aline knew that she was not going to take her finger off the pulse, especially now, "have you spoken with any of the other high lords?" leandra wanted to be sure that they were on the same page.
𝐒𝐎𝐌𝐄 𝐌𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓 𝐂𝐀𝐋𝐋 the high lady of summer a fool to have someone who disliked her immensely serving in her inner circle, and while there's some merit in that thought, she also did not believe in allowing talents to go to waste. certainly the other's attitude left much to be desired, but alina had never needed to be liked, not even by those who served in her circle. they only needed to obey her and respect her. however, it did not mean alina did not keep an eye on her. they say keep your friends closer and your enemies closer, while she didn't categorize the commander as an enemy, her gaze remained equally on the woman as it did on all others of those working close to her. after decades of working along side one another, she had learned a few things, and one of the primary piece of information being that leandra's loyalties to the summer court were not questionable. that was sufficient enough for the high lady, even if they did not see eye to eye on most occasions. no one, not even alina herself can claim that the commander of the summer court did not fulfill her duties well. unlike her late father, her pride would not get in the way of her doing what was best for their court.
the other's should not come as a surprise for alina, of course she was ahead, as she expects leandra to be. her emerald hues subtly appraise the woman before her to see if she'd been hurt, but found nothing on her person that indicated otherwise. her head dipped in a nod at the other, the other benefit that, leandra did not need to be told what to do, she was efficient. when the commander stepped closer, lowering her voice for privacy, alina met the other's gaze, masking her surprise at the words that befell leandra, unexpected certainly to this extent. "ah, quite surprising to hear you are worrying about me, commander. i did not think you would miss dear old me." the retort slips somehow anyway before she continues, "i will be alright, I would not carelessly place myself in danger. i cannot disappear altogether, you know this, leandra. if these things make themselves known again, our people will need me on the front line." leandra was strong, stronger than most, but how much could she fend off alone? or their guards? what startled her the most that arwen's visions had come to pass, they were vague but the smoke and something coming...this is what her seer had seen. the winged beasts, and their world nearly burning. "i caught daxton just moments prior, but i'll go with you to locate our general. my siblings will be escorted inside, i will remain out here."

atlas smiles, clapping rhys fondly on the shoulder as he approaches, "rhys! you look well." he tells him, "you know me... always up to at least a little bit of trouble." intentionally or unintentionally. thankfully, he feels like his cousin is not one to judge, that he can appreciate a little bit of trouble — the fun kind, at least. "i am definitely having more fun now that you're here." he's always enjoyed the company of his cousin, especially now, with all the troubles facing the realm. it feels good to know that he has someone on his side, "how are you faring? how are things over in the winter court?"
𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 : @ofcovrts / atlas
" i trust you are up to no good. " rhys greets as he finds his cousin. between all of his dawn relatives, it was atlas that was perhaps the one he was closest to. he saw sera far more, but atlas and he had too many similarities to compete with. with everything going on, the emissary to winter needed someone to talk to, someone he could fully relax with and not think about how useless he was. atlas was precisely that person. " at least, i hope one of us is having fun. "

well i'm not unconcerned, there were times like these that he wished his older brother was easier to read. atlas wanted to be in on whatever was going on, he wanted ambrose to trust him with things like this. he figured maybe he had to prove himself a bit more before being fully involved. "yes, i can check on eowynn. i'll... i'll check on sera, too." though, he was sure the night court was ensuring her safety, "do you think whatever those things were will come back?" he paused, "sorry for asking so many questions, i have just never seen anything like this before. have you?" he asked, hoping for some sort of reassurance that this would pass, that they would all be alright.
there was a beast in each high lord, every fae knew that, or at least he thought they did and it was taking every part of him right now to not introduce the new high lords beast form to the rest of the citizens of prythian because what in the cauldron was that? letting his breathing settle for a moment he avoided looking at his brother for a moment, until he could do it was a level of neutrality on his face. "well i'm not unconcerned." he offered his expression tight as he spoke. "don't like that one bit...can you check on our sister, i haven't seen her and i want to find the other high rulers."

Ersham raised an eyebrow at her words, a stack of books tucked under his arm as he approached the table. He was in the same boat. And despite his affinity for working alone, Tillie was someone he didn't mind speaking to or sharing thoughts with. Just not too many thoughts, of course. He respected her. He knew she was intelligent, even if he believed no one's mind rivaled his own.
He set his books down and sat down across from her, nodding, "Yes. There is not much else to do but think constantly about what is happening here." He flipped a book open to a page he had marked, "Have you found anything of use yet?" Ersham hadn't, but he wasn't going to show all his cards just yet. "I have been looking through some of Gaea's much older history, hoping to recognize something."
@ofcovrts / ersham
Tillie was hauled up in the library, flipping through the books she knew probably didn't hold the answers she needed but here she was, looking for them anyways. She muttered to herself frequently as she pushed through the pages.
"No... No..." She started, flipping quickly. The blonde groaned before slamming the book shut and picking up the second one. She didn't even hear the door open. Although, she felt the breeze. Tillie sighed. "If you are going to kick me out now, I will need to take all of these to my room. It's not here, I need help carrying them." She stated, not looking up. "I have much to study if I'm going to be of any help to the autumn court." She exclaimed.
Tillie glanced up for a moment. A familiar face. "Ersham. Are you here to seek out what has occurred?" She asked. "I must know what we're up against."

leandra doesn't let the pressure she feels show. she doesn't let the mask of control slip. it's her job to keep it together, to lead, and that's what her court needs now. she needs to be at her most focused. if she isn't then what could happen? what other misfortune to befall her court? they're already stuck here, there are creatures in the sky, people screaming and running. but leandra feels calm, even as her shoulders tense and her jaw tightens and she tries to figure out her next move. she's calm because if she's not then things would be worse. and they simply cannot afford that. the calm wavers slightly, though, when she hears a voice. that voice. his voice. it's been years and, still, the sound of him saying her name sends a shiver down her spine. she turns, eyes landing on him for the first time in so long. leandra's breath catches in her throat and if she wasn't a strong person, the sight of him quite possibly could have knocked her off of her feet. she faces him, eyes drawn up to his face, "yes... i..." it's not often she's at a loss for words, "vyros. hello." her own voice sounds pathetic to her, weak in a way she doesn't want to feel. she shouldn't be surprised he's here. leandra knew of his position, the same position as hers just in winter. she feels like it's been eons and also minutes as she stares at him. her eyes trace his lips, the cut of his jaw, those eyes. eyes she couldn't forget no matter how much she tries, no matter how many walls she hides their history behind. all the corners of gaea and they happen to be in the same one, "what a surprise," it's not, "it's... it has been so long." too long. though, part of her wishes it would have been longer, that she didn't have to face this long buried part of herself, "incredible weather we are having." she deadpans, trying to diffuse the molasses-thick tension.

𝔣𝔢𝔞𝔯 𝔡𝔬𝔢𝔰𝔫'𝔱 𝔡𝔦𝔰𝔞𝔯𝔪 𝔥𝔦𝔪. it enables him. it strengthens him. when he sees those great beasts, looming heavy in the sky, his heart hammers, but it doesn't splinter or fall. it moves the ichor and blood through his veins, and he is thrown into action like a machine. it had been the simple job of the royal family to protect those flooding their kingdrom from foreign courts, and yet their answer to an unknown threat has been to distract the collective attention with a festival. there are too many souls in the streets, too many children separated from their families, too many lives to be lost in this needless frivolity. the ire in him is not hot like a searing blade straight from the forge; it is cold and lifeless and slow to move, a careful glacier adrift, waiting, observant and distant. there is ice blooming in his veins as he ushers children to sheltering arms, as he scans the churning crowd for his inner circle — the high lady, the young emissary, the general ... and then he is overtaken by the burn of the cruelest flame when his amber eyes sweep over her. the pain floods him, drowns him, old wounds re-opened with a cruel blade, and for a moment, he is breathless. the discomfort he's felt observing the strange happenings in gaea does not compare to what he feels at the sight of her. this is real fear, and the world seems to bend around her as he draws nearer. she is unchanged — honeyed skin, dark eyes that drew him in like a siren to deep water. he stands, the cynosure of madness as the masses run for cover, and wonders how he might survive this vivid hallucination. for how could he withstand it if she were truly here? now and arm's length away? would she dismiss him as easily now as she had then?
❝ leandra? ❞ her name is somehow venom and syrup, heavy-laden on his tongue, a challenge to his reality.

he smiles down at her, giving her a nod, "i could be up for some tea, if you're accepting company. the weather is beautiful today." atlas shrugs, "plus, i feel like we have not gotten much time together since being stuck here. how are you? feeling alright about all of it?" he asks, "it's bizarre." and he misses the comforts of home, even if there's one comfort just beside him.
eowynn grins spotting her sibling and when he approaches her and falls into step beside her, she throws her arm around his shoulder. though older, eowynn was certain that she was the shortest of all her siblings. " well, " she starts with a happy little hum. " i was going for some tea in the garden, if you'd like to join ? or we can do something else entirely. you tell me, my dear brother. "

"des!" atlas catches up with her, eager to offer his assistance in whatever way he can. he's not sure what's going on, but after ensuring all his family was safe, he's itching to lend his skills (of what sort, is anyone's guess) to the efforts to figure out how to get back home to dawn. "do you need help with anything?" he pauses, shaking his head, "not that — i know you are very much capable at your job. more than capable... i just want to help." wants to prove that he's a valued member of his family, of his court, "is there anything i can do? anyone i can talk to?" he's good at talking, that's a task he can be sent on, "i do not like the feeling of sitting around and waiting for the next thing to happen."

he approaches siara, lips set in a straight line. he's about to be the bigger person, which he hates, but they're in unprecedented times and unprecedented times call for unprecedented actions. "i think we should work together on this," he tells her, jaw tight, not meeting her eyes, "this whole situation... i feel like we could use one another's insights." despite their differences, he does genuinely believe siara's capable and intelligent, "if you have time to discuss, i would like to hear your thoughts."

"what i wouldn't give to have an event back at one of our courts..." he sighed with a shake of his head. he liked traveling and he liked being around so many friends and family members, but he longed for the crisp mornings of dawn and the sense of calm that came with home. plus, being stuck here didn't make it feel like some nice getaway. kind of the opposite, actually. "maybe a party by us would make it feel like home." atlas chuckled, shrugging a shoulder. he was tempted to throw one just to get the attention of his brother, and maybe to help him let loose. he lifted his eyebrows at the sight of the drink, taking it from the other, "are you lying just so you can see my face when it tastes horrendous?" atlas teased, lifting the drink to give it a sniff, "it doesn't smell too bad..." the color mad him wary, but was too intriguing to pass up at the same time, "bottoms up." he brought the drink to his lips, taking a healthy sip.
"it's not just you, were it not for you, i was certain this evening would a slowly passing one." the youngest lord of day understood the atmosphere the events have caused, but sour moods were not going to change their predicament. he was homesick, perhaps not to the extent that ced was, for dec it was missing his nieces and nephews. he could count on atlas to be the life of the party ride beside him. "let us hope the next party will be in one of our courts. though i'm tempted for us to pitch the idea of us arranging the next soiree." declan grinned meeting his friend's gaze, "your brother might have some. my brother? he has far too many." although, tonight it seemed ced appeared in a better mood than usual, which of course left the youngest aster too curious of the cause. "have you tried this?" he handed the other a oddly blue hued drink, "looks heinous but it is tasty."

always dutiful and faithful to her court, leandra had spent most of the day ensuring the safety of the citizens of summer. she knew, immediately, that she could not sit idly by and wait for something else to happen. everything was too uncertain, too dangerous. she was good at her job and took the duties on with pride, but her least favorite duty by far was having to listen to and obey the wishes of her high lady. leandra was good at games, was adept at putting on a front and making others believe she was on their side, but she did not do this for alina. she did her job and she did it well, protecting alina and her siblings and making sure that everything was running smoothly, but she would not pretend. still, though, there was a respect and loyalty that was understood. that wouldn't be broken, especially not now.
"i have already sent some extra guards their way," leandra nodded, straightening her spine and standing tall, "i will be checking in intermittently as well." she promised. she looked around, stepping closer to alina and lowering her voice, "you, too, should try to stay out of the fray. we do not know if they will come back or what's next. do not put yourself at risk." she did not wish ill upon the high lady no matter her disdain, "i am planning on finding our general and spymaster shortly to discuss what we should do next."
STATUS : CLOSED ⟳ @ofcovrts ;; leandra
𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐑 𝐇𝐀𝐃 𝐁𝐄𝐄𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐎𝐍𝐋𝐘 thing she had known throughout her childhood from the moment fates snatched her mother away. fear of the man who was to care for her and the rest of his children, fear of what her life would become as she watched her father transform into a monster he had become that grieving him had not been an option. alina grieved the man he was once, but not the man who took his final breaths before his children. legion dragomir had long ceased being a father, now all he was to alina was her mother's, thalassa's murderer. when alina had been crowned high lady, she had swore to herself she'd never allow another to induce such fear from her. this unknown entity almost threatened to dismantle that, but the high lady of summer would not allow that. fear would not get them out of this, nor out of the capital. it was not just about alina, it was about her people who looked to her. she would not allow this thing to induce any sort of fear, she had not allowed anything that sort of power over he thus far, and it would not begin now.
when the rumbling came to a permanent halt, the high lady had been quick on her feet to locate her siblings, ensuring they were unharmed and accounted before her gaze found the commander of the summer court. a woman who did little to mask her dislike for her high lady, but a woman that certainly had earned her current position. she knew little of others who are as fearless as she herself was, and leandra was one of them. those winged creatures were gone for now, but the high lady was well aware their troubles were nowhere near over. they would be back, along with this entity that currently wished to toy with them. "if you see our general, instruct them to remain with my siblings, they, and nor our guards are not leave their side." her tone leaving no argument as her brassy hues met the commander's. the two that remained with her alina had sent off to the other dragomirs.

atlas beams, gaze fixed on his sister. he's always felt closest to her, the safest with her. having her in another court far from home has been an adjustment, still a lot to get used to despite the time that's passed. "good, i'm very glad to hear it." he tells her genuinely, nodding, "i am doing fine. i do wish we could return home, but i am sure they will figure out a solution soon." he knew some of the best minds of the land were working on it. if anything, at least being here allowed him to be close to his whole family, "how is timur?" he keeps his tone light. he has nothing against his sister's husband, truly, if sera is happy then atlas is happy, but there's still a tinge of bitterness with his sister no longer in dawn with him. but he knows that's selfish and he's grown now, his days of needing protection seem over.
Seeing atlas was like turning a dimmed light in sera's eyes, she had always been awfully closer to him than the rest, not by choice but by circumstance. she had gone under their father's careful eye for longer than the two oldest, she had attached herself to the little boy, protecting him, covering for him, but over all simply watching him and loving him. and when she too had come to be under their thumb, she had tried even harder to shield him. "i can say the same about you, my sweet boy." she cups his face with one of her small hands. "you're always a sight for this sad eyes of mine." she allows her hand to fall back to her side. a ping of anxiety creeping on her, she suddenly worries how atlas would take no longer being her only little one, even if he was now a grown fae male. "aside from goes around here, life is good, thank the mother. how about you?"

atlas gave manon a warm smile, "i have been well. things are going fine." at any rate, his siblings were doing fine, he knew nothing about the actual goings on of the court, but things seemed to be going well. he thought maybe he should ask ambrose for some sort of status update, "the family is doing well. a little... unsure about having to be here, i think. but aren't we all?" he chuckled queitly, "how are you? how are things over in night? is sera working you too hard?" atlas joked with a teasing smile.
manon knows the other the moment her eyes on put upon their face. "atlas?" manon asked, as if there were any denying on who they were. he was, after all, sera's brother, even if she tried to erase the dawn court from her name. but still manon took the canteen and took the last drops as if it were the last drops of water she would ever get. she set the canteen down and took a deep breath. "how have you been? and the dawn court?" while she thought of the night court as home now, there was apart of her that would always yearn for the dawn court and its beautiful mornings.
