there were things that felt FAMILIAR when it came to the new reality , yet everything was UNDENIABLY different . atticus had been TORN from the PAST , and thrust into a FUTURE ; obvious to say , he was NAVIGATING through UNCHARTED WATERS . a part of him had hoped this new reality would gift him caitlin and sam , ( his wife and son ) . however , even in this reality they were gone . determined to find a way to REUNITE with his family , he stumbled upon an ancient scroll written in a dead native tongue called aramaic , — a language he needed to translate in hopes of answering one question : HOW TO BRING BACK THE DEAD . despite his relentless search , atticus tried to adapt to his new surroundings . he had started working at new orlean college , teaching classes on the OCCULTS . watching the event , atticus couldn't help but recall the night he had with caitlin ; it was a NIGHT much like TONIGHT . she had worn a CHAMPAGNE colored dress with fabric made of silk . atticus reminisce how caitlin had the ability to brighten up every space she ENTERED . even in a room full of people all he saw was her . he had remembered that night so vividly . it was an event he had meticulously PLANNED with friends and family — to PROPOSE . watching the current event , he was HAUNTED by the memories of her . " i'll take one of those , " he took one of the drinks from the waiter before readjusting the glass on his face . there was a seriousness to him , a WEIGHT that lingered in his every GESTURE .

" i don't , but i think i may know who does . " atticus didn't know alexandra very well , so the TRUST between them wasn't entirely solid . nevertheless , he knew he couldn't ACCOMPLISH this ALONE . the words that followed made him pause . atticus had caused many DEATHS , but he had never directly gotten BLOOD on his hands . he would often find ways to ACHIEVE what was needed WITHOUT getting his hands dirty . " we've come too far to turn back now , " he replied , giving her an answer indirectly .

" i'm not pushing , " he added , " just asking in good faith . " hearing that the PLAN to bring the dead back would PROCEED with or without him gave the professor a sense of COMFORT , since they shared the same goal . " as long as you know that i won't stopping until i get my son and wife back — with or without you , " he stated , WORDS mirroring hers .

atticus wasn't known for being pushy ; his charming facade ALLOWED him to manipulate others by exploiting their NEEDS , and ultimately MOTVATING them to do what he wanted , but that SKILL didn't work on everybody . " if the anchor is immortal like silas , " he spoke out loud , using the bread crumbles alexandra laid out for him . " and silas would do anything to protect . " he pondered , REFLECTING on her words . assume everything you know is a lie in some way or another , he REILLUSTRATED , silas was immortal and the only two people who could have taken the elixir was qetsiyah and the handmaid silas had an affair with , amara . and if qetsiyah was dead , what if the lie was about amara ? " the handmaid is the anchor ? " he questioned , looking for alexandra reaction as he tried to put two together . was he on the right track ? " she never died . " he concluded what PART of the story was a LIE .

Alex titled her head to the side when he started to put the details together about the anchor. "Do you have the cure?" She first asked but then another real question which he was grazing over. "And are you willing to kill the anchor to do that?" In her defense, she wasn't exactly sure if she was, yet.

She smirked slightly when he tried to twist her words into knowing who the anchor was. "I'm not so easily pushed," she warned him. "I plan to destroy the other side, I will take your help, but at the end of the day, this is happening with or without you." She wanted to make that clear. She would help him if she could but she was not someone to be pushed around, after all she had grow up under the eyes of her brother. She had had to learn how to stand up for herself a long time ago. "While the story of my brother and Qetsiyah has been twisted over time, I think you know enough to work out exactly who the anchor is? If you assume that everything is a lie in some way or another."

" looking for the cure for elena , and anyone else who wanted to be cured . " his hand motioned across the room to emphasize everyone who joined them on that island : rebekah , stefan , jeremy , damon and elena . an added DETAIL that she conveniently FORGOTTEN . he had an agenda , but so did everyone else who followed him to that island , that day . he understood where bonnie was coming from , but he wasn't like her . he wasn't some POWERFUL witch , that could bring his family back . hell , he didn't have any MAGIC , he was just an academic professor . " you don't want to agree with my tactics , bonnie— fine , but let's not act like you didn't benefit from my actions in order to bring jeremy back . " he assumed that she used the EXPRESSION TRIANGLE to open the door so she could use her powers to get him back , yet and still he could only assume , ONLY bonnie could REVEAL the TRUTH .

atticus didn't want to turn this into some DEBATE about who was right or wrong , but it was INEVITABLY heading in that DIRECTION . atticus felt the SHIFT in the room . a cold breeze FOLLOWED as he watched her step forward . bonnie mentioned the INNOCENT lives that were TAKEN , and he shook his head . " temporally . " he inserted , keenly so she would not forget that the plan was to always bring the innocent back . yet she continued . atticus stepped back when bonnie mentioned his wife —damn . " at least she'd be alive . " his rage burst through , mingled with his desperation . " no , no . " he was tormented by her words as she pressed on , rattled , he shook his head . the professor struck the table beside him . " don't you dare talk about my wife . " he wasn't some child in need of reprimanding , he knew exactly what he was doing . atticus was a FATHER , a HUSBAND and those were titles he held SACRED . " you know what my wife wanted ? my wife wanted to be here—with our son . that's what she wanted . " he clarified and corrected . " then i guess i'm just going to have to prove it to you . "

❝ ⸻ Jeremy wouldn't have died if we weren't in that stupid island in the first place . I brought him back . ME . My own will and my own powers . CONSEQUESES that I am willing to pay . NOT BRING OTHERS DOWN WITH ME. I didn't kill anyone to bring him back . I didn't MURDERED PEOPLE IN HOPES TO BRING BACK THE ONE BEING WHO WILL DESTROY THE WORLD and hope that he MIGHT bring back the family who ALREADY MOVED ON . ❞ Bonnie stepped forward unknowingly the wind picking up . She was holding herself back . expression leaking through her from what she was feeling . ❝ I'm not judging you for wanting them back . Do you think I wouldn't bring my grams back if I could ? But I can't . I'm judging you for the choices you made . the INNOCENT LIVES taken ... and considering what you told me about your wife ... Even if you did bring her back , what makes you think she’d want anything to do with you ? She didn't kill people when she tried to bring back your son . I doubt she will approve of all the things you have ORCASTRATED ❞ Bonnie wished it were that easy to bring others back . Her grams taught her better . Bonnie would never bring back her loved ones at the cost of ANOTHER LIFE . At the cost of the world . ❝ no , we can't , Atticus . ❞

it was all true . he used bonnie , manipulated her to get what he wanted . nevertheless EVERYTHING that he had done had brought him closer to reuniting with his family . " what would you do for your family ? " he questioned , his temperament mirroring hers . " look what you did for jeremy . " he replied . " you judge me for wanting to bring back my family , yet you brought him back , didn't you ? " his gaze FOLLOWED the bennett witch's green eyes . " he was dead , and i , on the brink of death myself , saw when he was carried out of the the cave . not alive . " he exhaled . letting the weight of his words settle . allowing her to grasp that she was no BETTER then him . jeremy had been DEAD , and now he was ALIVE . it didn't take a genius to deduce that bonnie had played a major part in jeremy's resurrection . " i just want my family back , bonnie . " his voice was layered with a mix of vulnerability and defiance . it was clear that she wanted to hurt him , and he didn't fault her for that . " i know you trusted me , and that i betrayed that trust , but we can still bring those we lost back , bonnie . i didn't lie about that . "

Yeah , we are way past apologies and explanations over your obsession with bringing back SILAS, someone who was said to trigger the end of all time . ❞ To say bonnie was pissed about seeing Atticus out of all people would be an understatement . ❝ I trusted you . I looked up to you and if it wasn't for the fact that magic is banned from this city , I would have your ass pinned on the wall or choking in your own blood for every LIE you told me up until now .❞

she was absolutely right . WE DO WHAT WE MUST FOR FAMILY , and that was something they both could agree on . hearing alexandra speak about bringing those they lost back from the dead brought him a sense of RELIEF . when qetsiyah was mentioned , he listened intently and nodded . THE PROFESSOR was well-versed in the TALES of silas and qetsiyah . studying their story as though it were a religion . however , learning that qetsiyah had created an ANCHOR to the other said was news to him . what he did know was that silas was immortal , by drinking an elixir . it was said that the elixir was crafted by qetsiyah to share immorality , but silas had different plans . he intended to give the elixir to another WOMEN , but qetsiyah , with JEALOUSY , killed the women and buried silas in a tomb alive . but with alexandra revealing that the immortal anchor would be something her brother would undoubtedly want to protect , made things way more complex — not to mention , the BREWING war threatening to engulf the city . " if the anchor is immortal like silas , " he said , " then the cure should turn the anchor mortal , right ? . " he replied . despite everything , atticus was reminded that he wasn't the only one who longed to RECLAIM something lost . a nod followed. . regardless of what he thought or felt , alexandra was atticus's best chance at getting his family back , leaving him with no other CHOICE . " for now . " he answered . " but in good fate maybe you should tell me who the anchor is ? " he required knowledge that was being withheld from him .

"We do what we have to do for family," Alexandra said. After all she had ripped herself out of the other side and returned to earth to do just that. Her heart went to him when he said all he had done for Silas. And now felt like the wrong time to explain to him that Silas had had no intention of helping him. Given that Alexandra did, she wanted to focus on that.

"To destroy the other side, and allow people to return from the dead, we have to destroy the thing that binds it. And Qetsiyah," she said with a almost impressed smile at this point given her old friends tricks. "Qetsiyah bound the other side to something that is currently impossible to destroy and even if I could destroy it... Well I would need to do so without Silas finding out what it is." She had to make sure that he didn't find out about Amara, until Alexandra could work out what she was going to do. After the last 3 months they had spent together, Alexandra liked Amara, she didn't want to have to kill her.

Alexandra closed her eyes for a moment and took a deep breath, looking up to him when he said he didn't like to be strung along. "I can't promise I can do what you need," she told him honestly. "At least not yet. I haven't had 2000 years to plan this. I don't know what Silas' plan was. I am working it out. And the war here complicates things. But trust me, I plan to see this through... And you aren't the only one with people on the other side you would like to get back. Does that work for you? At least for now."

atticus wasn't seeking praise , he just needed reassurance that all his EFFORTS weren't in VAIN . still , hearing recognition of his dedication didn't hurt . " before . " he said , his tone tinged with IRRATION . " before ? you mean— before i had to teach a bennett witch ' expression ' , manipulate a hunter into becoming a supernatural hunter to uncover the map to silas . evade the originals , and dodge death—all while encouraging a disturbing amount of killings before traveling across the world to find silas tomb . " , atticus knew the brunet didn't need a play-by-play but he MENTIONED it anyways . " i can handle complicated . what i can't handle is being strung along . " he retorted , since it was ALWAYS one thing after another . taking a deep breath he REFOCUSED on the issue at hand . " what exactly do we need to do to the anchor that would warrant your brother's protection ? " his hand moved to rub the bottom of his chin as he tried to surface the truth .

It hasn't taken her long to work out what her brother had promised Atticus and she had known better than to think her brother had any intention of keeping his promise. But she was not her brother. Her heart was not that cold. "I know," she said, turning to look at him. "You have done more than anyone could have expected you to do," she said. "But things are slightly more complicated than they were before." That was ignoring the fact that the Gemini Coven had taken their expression triangle and were likely going to be on their tail soon. "I found the anchor," she said cautiously. "If we can lower the other side and destroy it, everyone will be returned." At least that was understanding of how the other side worked. "But the anchor is immortal and also something my brother would likely go to the end of earth to protect."

" fine , " atticus agreed . although the male was new to the city , atticus was a quick learner . new orlean was UNLIKE any other place he had visited . unlike mystic falls , there were rules here that could get him KILLED if caught practicing magic . " but at some point , we’re going to need to talk about bringing back my wife and son , " he said , his gaze shifting to alexandera . " i been a faithful servant , i helped to free silas from the tomb , and now this . " he bitterly reminded the woman . " at some point , i’m going to need to collect on these promises . " atticus had been DEEMED a madman when he orchestrated the massacre of twelve humans and werewolves , only to be ABANDON on an island and left for DEAD . when atticus finally made it back to mystic falls , he discovered that the window for reclaiming his wife and son had already PASSED . finding silas's sister had been sheer luck , but it didn’t change his ULTIMATE GOAL : to reunite with his family .

Alexandra packed up the parts of her spell. Silas had been awoken. She had got her brother back, that was all that mattered. However she had no plans to stay in the area and be found by Marcel's men and killed. Even a stranger who had had nothing to do with what she did would be pray to that creatures men. "I suggest we get out of here," she commented, as she picked up her bag.

hearing bonnie from across the way atticus couldn't help but make his way to her . he had wanted to apologize for the role he played in hurting her . he wanted to make things right if that was even possible with the BENNETT WITCH . atticus understood the hand he played with the young witch and how he had MANIPULATED her for his own gain . so , that the man who once was a father & husband could get his family back . while sipping on DREAMS of what could be it had became more POSSIBLE to get his family back now that silas was out of the tomb . the man bonnie once knew as professor shane had caught wind that he would be able to find silas in new orleans . although the male wasn't CERTAIN this was true or not atticus had learned to relay on his gut . " bonnie . " it had came out almost as a WHISPER and hopes to not startle the witch . " i know i'm probably the last person you want to see right know but i'm hoping you'll give me a chance to explain . "
