Once again continuing my very first reread that I started last year...

I forgot how fucking HYPE it is when the second house challenges the sixth for their keys.

Everybody including Gideon, who should really know better because she's actually dueled Camilla before, assumes that the nerd from the nerd house is going to get crushed by the soldier from the soldier house.

Even Camilla leans into it, or rather she isn't familiar with all the pomp nonsense because like Gideon she isn't really a classical cavalier.

Then.

She destroys Marta. Absolutely wrecks her before Teacher does. Just fucking mops the floor with her, and yes Marta did get a few good licks in... The only reason she did is because Camilla doesn't care about defense at all, all offense all the time babyyy.

I love Camilla so much, What an interesting character to introduce so early, revisit once in HTN, then make one of the main cast for Nona. She's fascinating enough But I wouldn't even complain if Tamsyn decided to do a prequel down the line focused on her and Pal.

(for those who don't know, I absolutely loathe most prequels. Usually I say "start your story where it begins")

But yeah, everybody underestimated Camilla including Gideon, and we're terrifically surprised. 10/Cam would Cam again.
