“Don’t just steal the style, steal the thinking behind the style. You don’t want to look like your heroes, you want to see like your heroes.”

“Do good recklessly.”
I just read this quote in another post, but I thought it fit here pretty perfectly.

Dark Academic Things You Can Do While On Quarantine:
- There’s someone in your life who you have unspoken words with. Write them a verbose but eloquent letter explaining everything. You don’t have to send it.
- Look out your window and pick something to write a short poem about.
- Pick up a book and read it. Write in the margins and underline parts that are important to you.
- Go for a walk and bring a notebook with you. People look at you strange for walking with a notebook? Good; you’re mysterious now. Draw various things you see, even if they aren’t good. Scribble down whatever thoughts come to mind. Doodle the name of the person who keeps popping into your head.
- If there is a mystery, solve it. Otherwise, solve some crosswords or equations.
- Research old buildings in your area, and make a list of places to visit once quarantine is lifted.
- Hang out in a room with the lights off, using only candlelight to do whatever academic activity your heart desires.
- You’re lonely and society is collapsing around you. Make some art or write some words with that.
- Learn a romance language, even if you only memorize a few words.
- This is the perfect time to romanticize normal life; you can’t have it right now. Fall in love with the world outside your window, seeing your friends, being near people. Then hang on to that feeling once you get those things again.
-
I might post a part two, once I think of more things. I hope this helps! :)
