Stolen light

CHAPTER 3

As Darius was being introduced to the current members of Wolf's Fang, Haiba set out to recruit new members and convince the old ones to come back and join the guild in the upcoming fights. His first location was in the far south side of Grimwood forest. The Lunar lake. It was so huge some people wanted to call it the Lunar Sea. On the far side of the lake stood a cabin. Only a lone soul lived there, a water mage Michael, who was Haiba's childhood friend. Michael was an extremely powerful water mage which earned him the nickname "Aqua". It is told that he once battled a sand mage in the desert and left the battlefield underwater. Haiba stood on top of a cliff looking at the cabin from a distance.

- You already know I'm here, old friend.. (he smirked)

He took a moment and then made his way down towards the cabin. He came in to find Michael sitting at the table with two cups of hot tea waiting on the table and a chess board with the first move already made.

- So you did expect me after all, heh.

- It's been a long time, Haiba..

- Indeed it has.. Do you know why I'm here?

- No, but I bet it has something to do with what's been going on in the kingdom these past months..

- I want you to return to Wolf's Fang.

- Pff.. Absolutely not.

- The guild needs you! - Haiba shouted and slammed his fist on the table.

- And where were you when the guild needed you? You left us and joined Raven Claw.. After that we were attacked countless times and many of our fellow comrades died protecting the guild AND WHERE WERE YOU?!

Haiba sits there quietly with his head down

- You we're on the other side, pursuing darkness and losing yourself to it! And I know what happened to Maya, Haiba. I know the whole story.. But it doesn't forgive you from your sins that you commited.

- Listen.. I know I did some horrible things back in the day.. And my actions in the past few years don't excuse me from anything, but.. I truly believe that our guild can still be saved, that this kingdom can still be saved!!! But I need your help..

- You are still lost in darkness my friend.. I feel it. The fire that once burned inside you is gone..

- My fire still burns.. As strong as ever!! (Haiba is covered in a glowing red aura of fire and his fists become covered in flames) But.. To defeat the evil that consumed this kingdom.. (His flames turn black) I need to use the darkness in my heart.. (his aura settles down) Michael.. Sho needs your help, I NEED YOUR HELP.. Please..

- (after looking down and taking a deep sigh) Fine.. I see you really are determined about this. I'm in..

- Thank you.. Head back to the guild I will join you in a few days..

- Hmm? You're not coming with me?

- I have to find the others and bring them back too.

- Alright, good luck on your journey my friend.. And remember.. You still owe me a battle with The Fire Demon that is Haiba..

-Alright, buddy! -- Haiba smiles and waves as he turns to a shadow and disappears again.

Michael started packing his things and noticed the emblem of a wolf burnt into the table from when Haiba punched it.

Haiba's next stop would be at the Town of Breder, that got destroyed several months ago and has been rebuilding ever since. As he approached the town he felt chills going up his spine as he felt Maya's hand holding his own, when he turned his head he saw nothing, only the wind was blowing the leafs around. Haiba made his way towards the rebuilt keep of Breder. When he approached the prison he requested a meeting with a certain prisoner. It was his former comrade Sam. He was taken down into the dungeons where he found Sam cuffed in magical chains that restrain his powers.

- Hey, mountain, wake up, you have a visitor! -- The guard shouted

- Hello Sam, The mountain, long time no seen, huh buddy.

The second Sam lifted his eyes and Saw Haiba he burst with anger and tried to break lose, sadly the chains were completely negating his magic power and so he was kept in place.

- I am here to free you, on one condition. I need you to join Wolf's Fang and help us in our quest to save the kingdom.

- Piss off. I couldn't care less about your guild or the kingdom... If you set me free the only thing I am going to do is smash your head into the wall.

- You're still angry about me sending you here?

- YOU FUCKING DARE?? I lost a year of my life crawling in this dungeon like a worm and you only remember I exist when you need my help?!!!!!! I have nothing more to say to you. Be gone.

Haiba nods to the guard who undoes the spell and opens the door.

- You're a free man now, Sam. Do whatever you want, but I still fancy you joining us-- Haiba couldn't finish his sentance as Sam punched him in the face and set him flying through 4 dungeon walls.

- You just made your last mistake, Demon.. You never should have set me free.

Sam knocks back the guards that were trying to restrain him. (Sam got his nickname as the mountain because of his inhuman strength. He can change his body to be made out of rock or even steel and at his full power he can literally split mountains.)

- DIE!!!!!!!! -- Sam yelled as he made his body as hard as steel and charged towards Haiba lying in a pile of rocks.

Sam jumped in the air and punched Haiba with a blow that's shockwave got the dungeon walls crumbling. But Haiba caught his fist and was staring him straight in the eye:

- You can fight me if you want, but if I defeat you, you're joining Wolf's Fang. -- An immense dark Aura covered Haiba and even his skin turned dark gray.

- We'll see about that, demon!!!!! - Sam yelled as he swung his arm for another hit, but Haiba hit him in the chest before he could react and sent him flying through the dungeon's ceiling straight into the barracks above. Looking down Sam saw that his chest was all cracked.

- He shattered my black steel form in one blow... -- He whispered as he turned back into his human self. Sam raised his head to find Haiba staring down with a scythe in his hand. -- So.. You're going all out on me huh, demon..

- I am not that man anymore..

- Yeah, well that scythe in your hand tells a different story.. That is the weapon of the death bringer.. The demons descent .. You remember your past.. You know who you are..

Haiba picks Sam up by the throat and smacks him into the wall.

- I am not the man you think I am.. Not anymore. But to protect my friends I am willing to do anything.. Even go back to the darkness. I will ask you one last time.. Will you join Wolf's Fang and help us.

- Well you did defeat me.. Of course I wouldn't call it a battle when you defeat an unfed man who was rotting at a cell for over a year in one punch. Sure I'll join.. Just give me some beer and some food first..

Haiba's scythe and aura fade away and he puts Sam on the ground.

-Excelent! --He smiles -- Go to the Guild house located in Asur and the master will give you all the food and beer you can handle. Now I have to get going, behave okay?

- Yeah yeah..

- Alright, see ya later! -- Haiba smiles and vanishes in the form of a shadow.

Sam looks around apologizes to the guards and sets out to Asur. Meanwhile Haiba appears next to a fountain not too far from the prison. A uniformed man with long white hair steps up behind him.

- Well well, you caused quite a bit of the fuss back at the barracks, Haiba.. Or should I call you shin--

- Haiba's fine. Listen Leo, have you considered my offer?

Leo is currently a Lieutenant at the Breder's police force. He was once a member of the Sky Brotherhood, the same guild that Shieru was a part of.

- I did.. I must say, quitting my well paid government spot that comes with a lot of benefits and rights to work at a barely standing guild which is about to go to war with one of the greatest powers of the nation does sound like a terrible offer.. But, since the Sky Goddess is with you I must accept this offer.

- You still like her don't ya..

- I DO NOT!! -- Leo yelled as his face turned red.

- Do you know where the guild is located?

- I do, but tell me something.. Why does a Raven suddenly decide to drop out and join the losing side?

Haiba's face turns dark.

- None of your business..

- Alright just asking my good man.. I will be off now before you decide to slice me up too, haha!

-*groans* ...

After finishing his conversation with Leo, Haiba quickly disappeared into the wind.

NEAR THE TOWN OF MATTERFORD

Haiba appears on a hill an views the lands surrounding Matterford. The city looks like it's being sucked out of life by the dark guilds taking residence there. Haiba focuses his attention towards Raven Claw's outpost near the northern city entrance. He sees a convoy moving out which is guarded by about 40 armed soldiers and 5 cloaked men are on horseback guarding it from behind. Haiba puts on his hood closes his eyes a small aura surrounds him as he says "it's time.." and teleports in front of the convoy.

- WOOOAAAH!!!! Stop the convoy!!! We have a problem, sir! -- The carriage driver yelled

- Unit 1 defensive formation A!! Guard the convoy! Units 2-4 restrain the hostile!! -- the captain yelled out orders while the 5 dark figures from the back just kept spectating. 10 soldiers covered both sides of the carriage and took a defensive stance while the other 30 formed a circle around Haiba and awaited orders.

- What is your business here, peasant! -- the Captain asked while smirking

- Kill all of you and talk to the 5 in the back.. -- Haiba said while the aura surrounding him kept growing slowly.

- Men! Kill this lowlife! Whoever brings me his head get's double his salary this month!

The soldiers charged. Haiba only smiled and formed two long swords in hands that had runic enchantments on them and they glowed in the same type of dark aura as Haiba himself. Once the first soldier ran up to him and swung his sword Haiba took the hit disappearing like a shadow (this is one of his fighting techniques The Shadow stance, that allows the user to willingly become a shadow and dodge incoming attacks). While the soldier was fazed by what just happened Haiba appeared right behind him and sliced his head straight off. After that he turned his head to see that two men were running up to him pointing spears from both directions. He waited for the last moment before they hit him and used his shadow stance again making the two soldiers stab each other with spears. A feeling of fear and doubt started appearing in the faces of Raven Claw's soldiers as their Captain shouted to attack!

- Alright, I have no time for this.. -- Saying that Haiba rilled up his aura a bit and started moving through the battlefield in lighting speed cutting down enemies as he moves. From the side it looked like the men were just standing there until a shadow appeared in front of them slashed a sword at them and faded away to kill another one. In just a few moments all 30 of the soldiers were cut down with Haiba standing with his back turned behind the Captain.

- Just... Who.. No, WHAT ARE YOU!? -- The Captain asked without turning around as fear covered his face.

- To you.. The Demons descent.. -- After he said that Haiba stabbed the Captain straight through the heart.

The 10 men guarding the carriage dropped their weapons and fled the field, leaving only the 5 cloaked men. Seeing as they were the only ones left the mysterious figures dismounted their horses and took off their cloaks.

- It's been a long time, huh Haiba? -- The girl standing in the front asked

- Yeah, I think the last time I saw him fight like that was back in the war, haha!! - The fat man on the right yelled

- I honestly thought you were killed by the Sky Brotherhood and to be honest that was the less shameful way to go.. But to join up with the resistance? Pathetic.. - An elegant woman from the right also remarked.

- Yes, it has been a long time.. Diane..

( Diana was an old friend of Haiba back in Raven Claw, she was the one that helped him as he was just a fresh recruit. They were about the same age, but she joined the guild a year earlier. She uses a special aura called vampirism. She regains her strength and increases it by cutting down enemies. Her aura collects the energy of fallen enemies and comrades from all around her and increase her strength, speed and agility accordingly.)

- And the ogre brothers are as quiet as ever I see -- Haiba smiled as he pointed his sword at the two large men on the left of Diane. The two only groaned. -- Its nice to see you too Fredrich, Izabel.

(Fredrich was the young lad on the right from Diane. He was a few years younger than Haiba and joined the guild after Haiba made a good name for himself. Fredrich was a necromancer, he harnessed power from fallen soldiers and reanimated them to do his bidding. Izabel was an enchantress that was atleast a decade older than Haiba. She was a member of Raven Claw long before he joined. Haiba took her spot as a commander in the invasion of Ishkambel during the great war. Izabel's aura allowed her to increase the fighting strength of her allies and decrease the power of her foes. She could also make Fredrich's animated undead more durable. Izabel had only pure hatred for Haiba)

- Ahh yes, been a long time, huh Haibs? Want to give my undead a go? They improved since we last fought!

- I think he is here to fight us anyway Fredrich.. You'll get your chance at him -- Izabel crossed her arms.

Haiba turns his head to the side and see's that the 10 soldiers that fled the battlefield are all lying dead stabbed by arrow shaped rocks. (This was the power of the ogre brothers. Beside brute strength they also possess the ability to control earth)

- Is there a specific reason you came here, Haiba? -- Diane asked as her face got serious

- There is. I want you to come with me and join our cause.

Izabel bursts into laughter

- Haahahahaha.. You really think anyone would be as stupid as you and join the losing side? You have more chances taking on the Sky Brotherhood alone.

- Like I did back in the war?

Izabel loses her temper and a bright silver aura surrounds her.

- Now you've done it.. -- Fredrich said as he scratched his head.

- You know, since you were one of the 3 Demons of Ashgard, I will consider your offer if you can beat us in battle. (Ashgard is the homeland of Raven Claw. The 3 Demons of Ashgard were the most powerful warriors in Raven Claw beside Raven Claw's master. They were the elite unit that carried out orders directly from the Grand master himself)

- Alright, Haiba, just like old times, heh? -- Fredrich rilled up his dark green aura and the dead soldiers surrounding the convoy and the ones that fled began standing back up. They picked up their weapons and slowly faced Haiba. Izabel casted enchantments on all the animated soldiers and her comrades including herself, enchanting their combat abilities. The blood red aura surrounding Diane also rilled up and she forged a black bladed katana in her hand, which had red runic enchantments on it. The Ogre brothers made shields for the animated soldiers and weapons for themselves. Seeing as his enemies were serious right from the gecko Haiba also got down to business. The shadows surrounding him started taking shape. His clothes transformed into armor and his cloak turned into a shadow. The hood disappeared and his face turned light grey as if he was wearing a skull mask. His eyes turned a bright cyan color and a scythe appeared in his hands.

- Finally, we'll get to see what one of the Demons of Ashgard is capable of!! - Fredrich yelled with excitement.

The air surrounding the battlefield got heavy and the area around the convoy was covered in light black fog.

- HERE WE GO! Fredrich, Izabel, Brute, Utter Attack! -- Diane yelled as she charged Haiba alongside her comrades.

Haiba closed his eyes for a second to feel the battlefield, once he saw the enemies movements in his mind he opened his eyes and started to attack. The reanimated soldiers got in the way first but Haiba was just jumping around using his Shadow step and was cutting them down without much effort. But every time a soldier dropped he just stood back up because of Fredrich's spell. Haiba turned to the side just as Diane was slashing her katana at him dodging the attack. Then one of the Ogre brothers hit him on the back with his mace and sent Haiba flying into two undead soldiers. After quickly standing up Haiba felt that his feet and hands were feeling heavy and that he could barely hold his scythe in his hands. He turned to see Izabel casting a curse on him that puts extra weight on the body and drains it's energy more rapidly. Knowing that this curse will just continue to make the situation worse Haiba took a hold of his scythe more tightly and shadow stepped right behind Izabel. She only gasped with surprise in her face and a mouthful of blood when Haiba's scythe cut her in half.

- Impossible.. -- She mumbled as the upped half of her body hit the ground.

A few undead soldiers tried attacking Haiba but they just got blown back by the shadows surrounding him.

- Woah, he already got Izabel.. And even under the effects of her curse.. AWESOME! So that's the power of one of the demons! -- Fredrich yelled as he watched Izabel fall.

- Focus Fredrich, he is not someone you can toy with! -- Diane yelled as she jumped Haiba from behind and slashed a cut across his whole back. Sadly for her, Haiba's armor absorbed the hit and it didn't even leave a scratch. -- What? My blade didn't..

- Diane look out!! -- Fredrich yelled as he saw that Haiba left a clone made from shadows in the position where Diane struck him and appeared behind her. As soon as she realized what is happening it was too late. But one of the Ogre brothers Brute pushed her to the side and took the hit of Haiba's scythe for her. It left a deep cut from shoulder to shoulder but Brute stood up after that and continued attacking. After dodging the first few swings Haiba stopped moving and just stopped the incoming swing of Brute's mace with his hand. At first everyone was surprised but then Brute turned pale and collapsed.

- What?! Why did he just drop? The cut wasn't lethal! -- Diane shouted all confused.

- Demon art, curse of the Reaper. This scythe's attacks are enchanted with a curse that will kill anyone it wounds. - Haiba explained as he watched life fade from Brute. -- Sometimes even I think it's unfair that I was granted this power.. But then I remember.. There are worse people than me in Raven Claw that wanted this power.

While he was saying that Utter jumped from behind him, forming several rock spikes he jumped in the air filled with rage over his dead brother. Haiba looked behind him and pointed his free hand at Utter.

- Demon art.. Black Shockwave! -- He yelled as a devastating shockwave that originated from the aura surrounding him destroyed all of Utters projectiles and completely evaporated his body and several all of the undead charging at him.

- My... That's scary... Diane are you done yet? There isn't much people left to kill besides me and you know I don't want to die.

- It's okay. I think I have enough blood. -- The Aura surrounding Diane rilled up and red markings appeared on her arms and neck.

- Alright then, bringing reinforcements back! -- Fredrich focused his energy and reanimated Izabel and Brute. Not surprised of what just happened Haiba turned to Fredrich and said:

- You're next..

- Oh crap.. -- He slowly backed away

Haiba charged Fredrich avoiding a punch from reanimated Brute. Feeling his body feel heavy again he knew that even split in half Izabel was still casting her curse on him. He quickly used Shadow step and appeared in front of Fredrich. Seeing as this was the end Fredrich covered his eyes with his hand and awaited for the final blow, but Diane stepped in and blocked Haiba's attack. After the collision with Haiba's scythe Diane's katana fired a blood red shockwave and pushed him back. As soon as he got pushed away Brute smacked him down on the ground and kocked his scythe from his hand. Fredrich slowly walked up to it and picked it up:

- Well, well.. Let's see how powerful is the Demon of Ashgard, the great demon, without his scythe, heheh -- he smirked.

- You really think you have the right to hold me? You filthy human?

- What? What was that?

- Right here you stupid moron.

Fredrich turned his head towards the scythe and noticed that the skull that was connecting the blade and the handle was talking.

- The.. Scythe... Talks!?

- Yeah I was surprised to hear your ass-like face talk too, but I didn't turn pale because of that. I was already white to begin with, hahahaha!

- What the.. -- Diane looked at the scythe confused.

- You do know what happens to anyone that take death's scythe right? -- The weapons asked as Fredrichs hand started turning black and he couldnt move anymore.

- WHAT IS THIS.. MY HAND!! -- his hand slowly turned to stone black as the darkest shadows and it slowly spread through his whole body until he became a statue. Brute and Izabel stopped moving since the person reanimating them was killed.

- Well it's not that you can't take me, but if I don't want you to you will just die hahahaha! Who's next ya morons?! - The scythe started shaking from laughter

- Shut up already! -- Haiba said as he stood up from under Brute's dead body -- Just get back here..

- Don't you talk to me so disrespectfully in front of strangers!! -- The scythe yelled as he returned to Haiba's hand.

- Now Diane.. Do we still need to continue this or will you just come with me? -- Haiba said as he turned back to normal.

- Ech.. Since all of my comrades are dead I don't think I can beat you.. So yeah sure I'll come.

- Great.. --

- On one condition.

- Alright name it.

-I get to kill as much enemies as I want when we're fighting and you won't hold me back in a fight.

- If the enemy deserves to die you will have full clearance to go nuts.

- Alright! -- Diane smiled as her katana and markings disappeared. She turned back into a cute short girl that she is.

- You know sometimes I forget how crazy and vicious you are.. Just be sure to be on your best behavior. Comrades in Wolf's Fang are not like the one's in Raven Claw. You have to protect them and care for them, got it?

- Yeah yeah all of that sentimental bullshit, I got it!

- Alright, go to the city of Asur and find Master Sho.

- Aren't you coming pretty boy? *winks*

- I have to find a few others, I will join you soon.

- Ahh fine.. Ohh by the way.. Trevor, the commander of the 6th unit batalion in Breder defected a few months back.. He fled to the forest and is living with some woman he met while on duty.. I swear all you men are the same. By the way how's your--

- Alright I'll give him a visit, now go!

- Okayyy sheesh.. Don't have to be so mean. See ya later *winks*

Diane mounter her horse and started riding towards the city of Asur. Haiba looked towards Breder and he felt a chill pass him again.

- Maya.. -- He mumbled and started walking slowly towards the town.

Stolen Light

CHAPTER 2

After their fun at the beach Shieru and Haiba set off to different directions. Shieru journeyed to meet Darius at the old sawmill on the far east side of the Grimwood forest while Haiba set out on a personal quest. One that involved getting reacquainted with past foes... While they were travelling Darius was already busy with training at the old sawmill.

-Aargh!!!! Not good enough!!! - he yelled while desperately trying to pick up a massive log. His hands were covered in bruises and cuts and his face was no different. He had been training the whole time after he left the tavern. Feeling that his body isn't responding to his commands he tried to push himself even further.

Shieru arrived at the spot and saw Darius training.

- My, my. What determination.. Reminds me of Haiba - she smirked. She watched as Darius made his final attempt to lift the log up, however he turned pale and fainted. Shieru walks up to him:

-Yup, you're a mirror image of Haiba in his prime, I guess. - she stared at him for a moment then kneeled down to see how he was. - So reckless.. - Shieru put her hand over his chest and healed him. The wounds on his arms started fading right away, his pale face returned to normal. Darius opened his eyes to see Shieru smiling.

- ... What? Lady Shieru..? What are you... When did you get here? - A few moments ago. You know, you don't have to push yourself so far.

- I must.. If I ever hope of becoming as strong as Haiba sensei!

- sigh.. I don't think that's possible Darius my boy..

- WHAT?! Why?

- Haiba gained his power when he joined the Raven Claw. He sacrificed a part of himself to become what he is now, but that power comes with a huge price. A shadow assassin is only able to use the power of darkness while he creates chaos and destruction, but Haiba somehow found a way to bend that rule.

-Whoa... Maybe I could learn that too..

Shieru hits Darius on the back of his head.

- No. Haiba said that your future lies with life and nature magic.

- But Lady Shieru! --he rubs his head

- No buts.. While you're our student you have to listen to us. Don't like it, train by yourself.

- I'm sorry. Please, teach me. -- he bowed.

- Well there's no need for bowing, haha. (I frikin love this - she thought while smirking). - Now.. Let's start your training! Are you ready?

- Yes ma'am!

- First of all let me explain how aura's work. The world around us is filled with all kinds of energy sources, for example my light magic or Haiba's shadow magic. There are all kinds of different sources of magical aura's around the world. In my time I fought with a lot of different opponents with fascinating powers. For example one of them could create animated golems from earth and make dirt as hard as steel. Another one manipulated the power of lightning. He was so fast that even I couldn't beat him by myself. My former master stepped in to help and that's how we defeated him.

- Awesome!!

- Indeed. Now for types of aura's that you can use. You can actually use any kind of magical aura, but specific ones are more powerful than the others. For example I could use Haiba's dark magic, but it be weak. If you are a life and nature aura, then using death and chaos magic will be near impossible to you. Did you get everything so far?

- Umm.. I guess..

- Excelent! (He didn't get shit, did he...?) How about we skip the boring theory and try practice, huh?

- Okay, sensei!

- Awww, he called me sensei! -- she thought. Now I'll teach you how to form a weapon from the energy you wield. Hold out your hand like this and close your eyes. Now, feel the energy around you, we are in a forest for a reason. This is your main battle environment, you can accumulate the most magical power here. Draw energy from your surroundings into your hand. *a faint green light starts glowing around his hand* Good, now to actually form a weapon, you have to imagine it's shape and size. Try it. *the light starts taking shape of a dagger* Good! Now to make it into solid matter you must infuse it with your own energy. The feeling in your chest is your own life energy, send some of it to your hand to form the weapon. *a bright white light flashes and a green dagger appears in Darius' hand*

- I DID IT!!!

- Well done, now.. Try making a sword.

- Yes ma'am!

Shieru and Darius practiced for 5 days straight. In the mean time they got close and started bonding like mother and son. After almost a week of training Darius had already learned the basics of creating objects from magical energy. Seeing that Shieru knew it was time to pass on her student to his next mentor.

- Well, kiddo, your training with me is complete!

- Really Shieru-sama? Did I do as well as you expected??

- To be honest you did even better. I didn't think you could get the basics in just 5 days. I'm proud of ya! --- winks

- Awesome!!! - he yelled as he jumped in the air

- Alright, your new sensei should be waiting for us already.

- Who will teach me now, ma'am?

- You'll see -- she says while smirking. -Jesus.. I hope they don't flip when they see each other -- she thought to herself.

Shieru and Darius travelled to the town of Asur where a new mentor was already waiting.

AT THE TOWN OF MATTREFORD

The market of Mattreford was as busy as ever. Shieru asked Darius to get her a few groceries while she went to take care of business.

- Meet me at the farms outside of town in an hour or so, alright? Ohh and take this necklace. It's enchanted to protect you whenever you get hurt, but it doesn't mean you can get reckless with it. - she hands him the necklace.

- Yes, sensei! - Darius replied as he ran off.

Shieru smiled and was on her way as well. After running the errands Darius met Shieru at the farms. She was talking to someone, but Darius couldn't make out who it was, because the person was sitting behind a tree. The boy got closer and got noticed by his sensei.

- Heyyy Darius!!! Come here!

He quickly ran over to her, bowed and gave her the groceries.

- Darius meet your battle training instructor.

The boy stared with fear and excitement into the dark figure behind the tree. He was shocked and got frightened after he realized it was Haiba.

- Whaaaat??? Him!? He'll kill me! - he screamed with a pale face.

- Now, now.. Don't freak out, I talked with him and he agreed to train you. Didn't you Haiba?

- As much as I hate to admit it.. Hmm. So, you say you taught him the basics?

- Yup!

- Well, then show me, boy. Form a weapon and attack me - Haiba said with an emotionless face.

Darius was shaking and didn't know what to do.

- Come on, you can do it! - Shieru yelled.

- Right. Here goes! - he calmed down and started channeling energy into his palm.

Darius instantly made a sword which was a lot stronger than the one he forged when he first started training. He formed a fairly tough green elven sword and looked Haiba straight in the eye full of determination and courage. After a brief moment to focus he charged Haiba head on.

- Take this!!! - he yelled while swinging his sword.

Haiba just stood there unarmed and waited for the attack. He then blocked the incoming blow with his arm and shattered the sword. He then punched Darius in the gut and kicked him away a few meters.

- Hmm.. Well she did teach him how to create a weapon.. But he clearly has no idea how to use it. -- he thought to himself

- If you get up after my next attack, I will train you. If you don't I'll finish you off - Haiba said with a stone cold face.

Shieru continues watching. Darius slowly gets up.

- Now, show me are you truly worthy of being trained by me! - he yelled while releasing a dark shock wave at the boy.

Darius had no chance to dodge that so he braced himself, focused all his energy towards his crossed arms and took the direct hit. The blast sent him flying away. He felt down with his clothes burned up and his body fully covered in bruises and burn marks. Darius clenched his fists and slowly stood up. Barely standing and shaking he looked at Haiba with a smile, as if he was trying to say "I beat you".

- Hmm.. I see.. - Haiba noticed the necklace Shieru gave to the boy. - So you gave him a healing talisman too, huh?

Shieru smirks.

- Well a promise is a promise. I never go back on one. You are now officially my student!

Darius smiled and fainted.

- He's one tough fucker - Haiba smiled as he looked down on the boy.

- His determination reminds me of you a bit.

- Maybe.. Listen, Shieru. I want you to go to Asur and find Old-man Sho. He used to run a small guild in the city. See if he still does and if so aid them. I owe the old geezer a favor and he sent a letter asking for help.

- Why do I have to return your favors???

- Because I agreed to take this kid as a student for you!

- Touche~

- Before you leave patch the kid up, so he's battle-ready. I want to start his training as soon as possible.

- Understood.

Shieru sat down to heal Darius while Haiba stared into the distance thinking. Few moments later Shieru stood up, nodded and left Darius with his new master.

Haiba took him to a tavern in the far east side of Mattreford.

-Eat up, kid.. We have a long day ahead of us.

- Yes... S-sensei..

- AND STOP CALLING ME SENSEI!!! Come on.. Eat or I will eat everything myself..

As soon as Haiba finished his sentence he started mowing down the food from the table like some sort of beast.

Staring at the food being demolished with surprise. - Boy.. His appetite is as big as he's scary.. Right I need my strength - he said as he started eating as well.

After a full 5 course meal the two left the tavern and went to enjoy a relaxing stroll through the park.

- Umm.. Master? Why aren't we training?

-Training comes later, right now we are digesting our food. Just go with it..

After a few hours they wandered to the hot springs.

- You have to be kidding me... HOW IS THIS PART OF OUR TRAINING?!

- Just shut up and get in - Haiba said as he leaned back in the steaming hot water.

- I swear this guy is just finding excuses not to train me..

After spending the rest of the evening in the hot springs Haiba and Darius set out to the tavern in the southern side of town. While walking through a dark alley Haiba asked:

- Yo kid.. Do you know why we did the things that we did today..?

- To waste our training time?? - he shouted with anger

- To show you the good side of life.. But now.. You must experience the dark side too..

As he finished his words a dark aura started surrounding Haiba and the alley seemed to be fully covered in darkness. Dark images of Haiba's past started showing up. Darius saw horror filled images of entire villages being slaughtered cities razed and people begging for help.

- This.. This is the dark side of life.. My side of life... If you trully think you can deal with images like these on a daily basis.. -- The atmosphere turned back to normal and Haiba's aura disappeared -- Then we'll continue your training tomorow.

Paralyzed by fear Darius just sat there, shaking. He spent a few moments thinking about all the horrors that his master showed him, then stood up and followed him to the tavern. He wanted to ask about his masters past, but every time that thought crossed his mind the images kept showing up again.

THE NEXT MORNING

Haiba and Darius went back to the forest near the sawmill to continue with training.

- Alright.. Seeing as you are still determined to fight after all the things that I showed you..

Darius clenched his fists and nodded.

- Let's begin your training. Firstly form that sword of yours, just try to make it stronger than last time..

Darius silently closed his eyes and started accumulating energy in his hand. He managed to create a sword even more powerful than in the past.

- Good, I see you're improving. Now.. (Haiba forms a blade similar in size) Your real training begins now! - He said as he charged his student head on.

Darius managed to block the incoming attack and was surprised to see his master smiling.

-Very good.. Always keep your eyes open while in combat and always be aware of your surroundings, not all enemies use weapons like these some might control the environment and attack your from any direction. Keep your guard up! -- A shadow that formed behind Darius slashed at him but he managed to dodge the attack. Seeing his student smile Haiba knew they were at a mutual understanding.

A month has passed and Haiba decided that Darius was ready to take his training to the real world and left the training grounds at the sawmill. The two heroes made their way towards Asur. When they exited the forest Darius gazed at the Town of Asur. It was every bit as beautiful as he imagined. In the town of Asur several guilds took residence. Among those guilds were such as small factions of Raven claw and the Sky Brotherhood, but their factions here were relatively small compared to the Capital. Haiba and Darius entered through the gates and made their way to the eastern side of town where a small guild called Wolf's Fang. The two lads approached the guild.

- So cool.. -- He looked up at the emblem above the guild's entrance.

- Alright let's go in - Haiba said as he pushed open the doors.

The guild wasn't what Darius expected it to be. There were only about 10 people all looking grey and moving around slowly.

- What happened..? -- Darius asked

Haiba is approached by Master Sho, the current guild master of Wolf's Fang. The old man was half the size of Haiba and skinny beyond belief.

- Hey Old man Sho.. How are you holding up, where's Shieru?

- Ohh you know trying to hold this guild together.. This guild is like family to me.. But after you left the whole family started tearing itself apart. Some left for other guilds some took up wandering and some passed away.. How is Maya holding up?

The atmosphere in the room changed for a second, you could actually feel the tension and the sadness that filled the room.

- I see, I am so sorry my boy.. I didn't know..

-It's okay Master. Where is Shieru?

- She is on an escort mission for some fancy lord. Our work has been low paid and we barely had enough to keep the guild running but Shieru brought a new line of work to our guild. She should have been back by now I don't know what-- Sho couldn't finish his sentence as Shieru jumped Haiba from behind and squeezed the life out of him:

-HAIBA-CHAAAAAAN!!!! I missed you sooo much!

- Let go! You-you're killing me...!

- So, how did you do my boy, did Haiba hurt you? - She started checking Darius and poking him all around.

- No lady Shieru, I'm actually fine, sensei was rough but I think the training he gave me really paid off!

- Good, we'll test out your newly acquired skills in our next mission - she said.

- Wait what? - Darius got confused

- You are now a part of Wolf's Fang, boy. You will form a team with Shieru and carry out several missions to boost the guild's income. In the mean time I will go recruit a few old friends of mine to the guild. Take care. -- And with those words Haiba turned into a shadow and faded away.

- Alright, let's go meet the others! -Shieru pushed Darius foward

- There aren't many people left but those that stayed are really kind and caring. This is Rey, he is a very skilled bowman and could shoot an apple from 3km away!

- Hi, I'm Rey, it's short for Reinold. I really hope we can be friends! - he said as a heartwarming smile covered his face

- Hello Reinold, I am Darius, I really hope so too! -- They shook hands and hugged.

- Alright, meet the others, this Buzzer, our barkeep. He is really good at cards so watch out! - Shieru laughed

- Nice to meet ya kiddo, friends call me Buzzer but the name's actually Bernard, feel free to use either! - He smiled and Darius saw his yellow teeth. Buzzer was a big fellow, probably twice the size of Haiba, had a big brown beard and a bald head. His chest was covered in scars and he was missing two fingers from his left hand.

-Next off we have Arno, the cook.

- Heya! -- He waved and dropped his hat which revealed his bright red hair. He was quite clumsy.

- Also we have Tina (she smiles and waves from her desk while filling in paperwork), she handles all the paperwork and business related stuff. Also Tunner..

- WHAT'S UP LITTLE MAN, THE NAME'S JEFF BUT YOU CAN CALL ME TUNNER! - He yelled as he jumped all around sticking his tongue out.

- Yes.. He's weird like that but don't be fooled, he's quite a strong mage. He uses his aura to generate music which either makes his enemies move the way he wants to or he can animate surrounding objects.

- YEAAAAHHH!!! -- He shouted as he made the tables dance.

- Anyway.. The last but not least are the Nami sisters, Kitto and Yuro. They come from the eastern kingdoms.

- (simultaneously) Please to meet you, Darius-kun!

- I am Kitto, the telepath.

-And I am Yuro the water mage.

- Kitto is a really strong telepath mage that comes in handy when you need to dish out orders to guild members that are away. And Yuro's healing magic is really powerful, she may in fact surpass mine one day. -- Shieru explained while patting Yuro.

- Alright, since you met everyone.. I think it's time. Darius, as the master of Wolf's Fang I hereby accept you into our guild, you are now officially a member of Wolf's Fang! (Everyone's cheering and come in for a group hug)

-Thank you so much guys!!! -- Darius sheds a tear.

A few hours pass as Darius gets to know the other members more better. Shieru and Master Sho start talking in the distance.

- He really is forming a bond with Rey. I think they will be a great duo one day..

- Like you and Haiba?

- Maybe even greater.. Speaking of Haiba.. When will he come back?

- I believe we will see him soon, he gathered info on the people he wants to recruit some time ago.. Right now he just needs to convince them to join us.

- You didn't exactly explain to me why are we doing this.

- Raven Claw is planning something.. I don't know what, but.. Over the past year a lot more guilds have been completely wiped out.. We survived only because of Haiba. He may not be an official member, but every time we were attacked he was there and we managed to pull through.. And Sky Brotherhood isn't doing anything about it.. I fear that they have conspired and are planning something together..

- Well whatever it is we'll stop it. Together.

- I really hope we will.. Not many strong guilds are left in the kingdom of Lucudiana, but those that are fear Raven Claw too much to do anything about it.

- Don't worry master, if I know Haiba, he'll fix this. (Thinking) I hope... To be continued...

So this is the beginning of my original fiction story. I decided to name it “Stolen Light” for now. We’ll see how it goes. p.s. gonna include a simple, quick-made map soon.

CHAPTER 1

In the distant region of Lucudiana lies the peaceful village of Mattreford. Not too far from there lies the Grimwood forest. Walking along the main road of the forest are two of our heroes Haiba and Shieru.

- Hey Haiba! The wheather is BE-A-UTIFUL!! Let's go to the beach!!! - Shieru yelled with joy.

Haiba didn't answer just let out an angry groan.

- Ohhh come on Tiger paws!! Can't you be yourself for once and enjoy life? -- she shrugged with a grin.

- Can you frikin' get off my back for once!?!? I don't do sunny beaches!! -- he yelled out and crossed his arms

- You've been like that ever since we left Asur.

Haiba silently closes his eyes and turns away.

- You know... It's better this way...

Haiba's face turned darker with every word Shieru said.

- She was out of your league, dear... She's kind, loving, sweet and you... Well.. You're...

- Evil... -- he whispered while looking down.

- No I wouldn't say evil... more like misunderstood. -- Shieru smiles trying to cheer him up, but Haiba just stays quiet.

- Haib, what's wrong..? Want to talk about it?

- No. I'm fine.. Just sulking in my own thoughts.. -- he said while his face turned from angry to sad

Shieru jumps on Haiba:

- Ohh come on sour puss, smile for the Shieru! -- she said while squeezing his neck with her arms.

- glppphhhh.. Can't.... Breathe.... -- he flapped his hands as he turned blue

- Ayy, sorry. So what do you say, shall we go to the beach?

- Alright, alright, jeez..

- YAAAASS!!! -- she jumps in the air in joy.

- But don't get too excited.. I sense someone coming our way. Their aura feels weak but it might be suppressed so be on your guard -- his face turned serious as he put his hood on.

- Hmm. I will. -- she smirked and clenched her fists. -- Finally some action!! God.. I hope Haiba doesn't overdo it.. Knowing that he is he might kill a completely innocent person. -- she thought.

After realizing that someone is approaching them they quickly hid in the nearby bushes.

An unsuspecting traveler is making his way through the rocky road of Grimwood forest.

The traveler raises both hands in the air and yawns:

- Aw yeah! This is the life. Escaping my father was the best idea ever. Now I just need to find Master Sho in Asur and ask him to teach me how to master my aura and become a strong warrior. -- Looks up to the sky -- I need to become strong... I need to show my father that I'm no weakling... --The young boy kept day-dreaming while his carriage rolled down the rocky road.

- Ohh, it's just a handsome boy. He's probably traveling to Asur 'cause there are no other villages in that direction. -- Shieru mumbled with the look of relief in her face. - Well besides Breder...

- It's.. Him.. It's his son.. - Haiba's face turned dark and his shadow aura showed up.

- Haiba.. Why are you powering up..!? - Haib??? -- Shieru yelled with desperation in her voice

Haiba riled up his aura even more and his body was covered in shadows. He looked like a demon. His eyes were blue as he changed, but then they turned red and he jumped out of hiding.

- WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU IDIOT!?! - Shieru screamed.

Haiba formed a buster sword out of his shadow aura while in mid air. The young boy opened his eyes because something blocked the sun for him. When he opened them he saw a dark shadowy figure flying right towards his carriage:

- What the.. -- as the young boy said that Haiba furiously slashed his sword and shattered the carriage into pieces. The boy fell on his back and when he opened his eyes to see what's going on he saw a hooded dark figure cowered in shadows and standing right in front of him. -Demon.. A demon.. - the boy whispered as his face turned white and he started shaking in fear. The dark figure slowly turned his head and looked into the boys face. The only thing the boy saw was a red glowing eye in a shadowy hood.

- You... You are the son of Arthas.. the man who led the destruction of Breder and the man responsible for Maya's death... I will send you back to him in pieces!!! -- Haiba yelled as he jumped for the killing blow. - You die here, boy!!! - he shouted with blood-thirsty eyes. The boy covered his eyes with his hand and started crying to the heavens for help.

As soon as Haiba's sword reached the boy a bright yellow light flashed and shined over the whole forest.

- What the.. - the boy opened his eyes and was surprised to see he is still alive.

- Quit getting in my way... for fucks sake Shieru.. -- Haiba spoke through his teeth as he was still pushing his sword along the shield barrier that Shieru covered the boy with.

- He will not die here. Not now and not by your hand.. -- Shieru said while giving her all to hold back Haiba's attack. - Now.. Get back!! - She yells and pushes Haiba away with the barrier.

Haiba's aura is reduced and his buster sword disappears. He grabs hold of himself in mid air and lands on his feet. He stays in his demon form, but his eyes go from red to light blue.

- If you don't get out of my way.. -- even thicker shadows surround his body -- then... - forms a scythe from the shadows -- you'll die with him!!!! - he shouted. As he stood there preparing for an attack Shieru started glowing. The air arround her got warm and sparkles started rising up. The black mist covering Haiba grew thicker and thicker every second and even the grass under his feet started dying.

- So be it.. - he whispered and his body bursted into shadows. He appeared right in front of Shieru and the boy in the blink of an eye and slashed his scythe right through Shieru and the boy. After being cut in half Shieru only giggled. Both hers and the boy's bodies turned into golden sparks and were scattered by the wind.

- Hmm. -- He smirked - Shieru you clever bastard.. You took my prize away from me once again... -- The shadow aura around him faded and the skull on the scythe started talking.

- Idiot why the hell did you summon me if you didn't intend to kill anyone!?! - the skull on the scythe started raging in a squeaky voice.

- Shut up. My desire to kill was strong.

-Like hell it wasn't. Did you forget that I can sense your true emotions, loser ?? I know that right after Shieru stepped in you changed your mind about killing the boy..

- Ugh..

- Anyway.. I still sense your thirst for battle. You told me that you changed your way after you left the Da... -- gets interrupted

- That's enough! -- Haiba unsummons the scythe and his shadow aura disappears. - Sigh.. Well I bet she'll be at the beach, so I'm best be on my way... -- he puts the hood back on and continues to travel to Mattreford .

MEANWHILE

On the mountaintop of Mount-Grimwood. The scattered sparkles gather on the peak of the mountain. It transforms Shieru and the boy back to normal. The boy lays on the ground staring at Shieru with uncertainty in his eyes.

- Are you.. The sky Goddess from the Sky Brotherhood?? -- the boy's eyes start to sparkle and his face just shines from curiosity.

- Ayyy, that's what they called me back in the day.. Now it's just Shieru - she giggles while scratching her head.

- I see. Why did you leave the order? Did something happ...

- Heyyy enough questions for now, kid. How 'bout you treat me to a drink in the "Black Rose"?

- Well I guess it's the least I can do to repay you..

- FAN-TASTIC! Let's go handsome! -- she grabs the boy by his hand and runs towards the village. - Come on! I still want to make it to the beach before the sunset.

- Wow, I imagined the sky Goddess like a fierce warrior which shows no emotion, but this.. I'm confused..

A few hours later in the Black Rose tavern

Shieru jogs down the drink:

- Ahhh this is the life 'eyy?

- How can she drink that fast? It's already her 5th drink.. - he thinks with his jaw dropped. - Umm.. Lady Shieru?.. - he starts talking full of uncertainty. - Can I... ask you something..?

- Sure thing - she replies while stuffing her face with all the food that's on the table

- How did you meet that man.. The Demons descent of Raven Claw ? Isn't he an enemy of your guild?

- Ahh that's a fine question, lad -- she said while she wiped her mouth with her sleeve. - You see.. he is no longer a member of Raven Claw . And I am no longer a member of the Sky Brotherhood.

- Whaaat?? How come? What happened?? -- he jumped from his seat.

- Well.. It all happened 2 years ago..

SHIERU'S MEMORY

The great war was still taking place. I was given an assignment to lead a battalion of troops to reinforce our camp on the far east side of the battlefield. I gathered my men and rolled out to help our brethren fight back the Raven Claw forces. When we reached our destination I was shocked. The camp was already destroyed. We found only 4 survivors. Out of 80 soldiers defending the camp those lucky 4 survived just because fortune smiled over them. 3 of them were unconscious, but the one that could talk only repeated one word:

-Demon... - the man said with a pale face and his eyes full of fear.

Soon after we arrived a messenger caught up to us and informed me about a nearby Raven Claw camp. Filled with hatred and rage I sent the messenger to the nearest Brotherhood encampment to call for reinforcements, gathered my men and head out to lay waste to the Raven Claw camp. Little did I know that HE was waiting for me there.

When we approached their camp all defense posts were empty and the camp gate was open. My lieutenant advised me to wait for backup, but since I was still furious with what I saw back in our camp I quickly gave the order to attack. When we entered the camp all the Raven Claw soldiers were in their battle formation and ready to fight and surrounded by them was him... Haiba. The one you refer to as the Demons descend. Although we had the advantage in numbers I still sensed a light odor of fear coming from my men.

Putting all reason aside I shouted " ATTACK!!!! " and the battle began. As my men engaged the other pawns I focused my attention towards him alone. As soon as he saw my determination he smiled at me and attacked. I didn't even feel how he disappeared and reappeared behind me in the blink of an eye, later on I learned that this technique is called the shadow step. Luckily I was able to block that attack. We clashed for a few hours. After a while I noticed that even though my men are winning the battle Haiba is cutting them down while attacking me. When I realized that I was powerless to do anything because his attacks were too constant to ignore and help my men. I soon found myself surrounded by a pile of dead bodies and Haiba standing right in front of me. It was just me and him. One on one. As I tried to catch my breath after a series of attacks that he just threw at me, he looked around and laughed.

- You seem tired, Sky Maiden.. Need a break? - he said while smiling like the devil himself. - Just give up, you and your puny guild can't win this war! We of the Raven Claw will destroy any trace of your Brotherhood and the Alliance. You should just give up...

- And watch my friends suffer the consequences!? NEVER!! -- I yelled. - I will not give up to the likes of you. My light will triumph over your darkness!!

- Ohh please, show me your strength then. - he taunted me with a sarcastic tone.

Then I fixed up my armor and changed the shield and sword into a spear.

The boy interrupts:

- OHHH the spear that can materialize light and use it as a weapon!?

Shieru smacks the boy down with her fist:

- Yes the same one. It's rude to interrupt ya'know.

- Ouch.... Sorry... - he apologized while scratching the back of his head.

- As I was saying..

When I changed my weapon I started attacking him. I soon realized that he was also having a hard time fighting against me because he changed battle gear at least 3 times while we fought. Then I understood.. That our fight could drag on for days.. But I was relieved when I saw my reinforcements arrive. When Haiba turned around he saw that the reinforcement unit was lead by General Strauss himself, a great warrior who's strength surpasses my own. Then he reduced his shadow aura, un-summoned the dual blades that he was using at that moment and surrendered.

After we got back to stronghold 7 I was quickly sent to the medic tent, but left there soon afterwards when they saw that I already used my powers to heal myself. I went to see the General and ask him what will we do with Haiba. He was a war prisoner after all. I was shocked when the General gave the order to execute him immediately. He claimed that Haiba was too big of a threat to take as a prisoner and he committed too many crimes and has to pay for them. Even though I suggested that he can be kept as prisoner under my supervision the general's mind was made up. He would have Haiba executed immediately. When he heard the sentence he only smiled.

- Sky Goddess.. What's your name? -- he asked me.

- It's Shieru.. -- I replied with tears in my face.

- Don't cry over me Shieru.. We're enemies. I don't want someone from the Sky Brotherhood to pity me..

The room was silent for a moment.

- And besides.. I'm not gonna be executed today, they're already here to bail me out of here - he looked at me with a confident smile

- What do you.. - I whispered.

- WHAT WAS THAT YOU SCUM!? - the general yelled

Then we heard a loud explosion outside and came out only to see that our base was already taken over by Raven Claw forces. They were led by two men from the Death knight unit that Haiba was part of. Haiba was originally one of the three demons of Ashgard, but during the war they were all assigned to separate units to support Raven Claw's forces on several fronts. Sly and Varren the two brothers from the death knight unit. They were both extremely powerful. Me, the general and somewhat around 15 other soldiers were captured as prisoners after a quick fight, all the others died in battle. Only the general stood any chance against them as I was still recovering from my fight with Haiba. However, even he was overpowered in a two-on-one battle. Of course, they only needed the general to negotiate with our superiors. Varren orderen to execute the remaining prisoners, but Haiba.. He didn't allow that.

- No, Varren. Let the others go. They fought well. They deserve to live. At least for a little while. - he said that while he looked at me.

- Hmm. Fine. Just know that you'll answer to the master for this, not me.. - Varren replied.

Then we were released. They only took General Strauss. After returning to the Capital we had to file a report on what happened. I overheard some of the officers discussing how we should've executed Haiba right there on the spot without bothering to bring him back to the camp. I was furious to hear that they would take a man's life without consideration like that. A few weeks later I left the Sky Brotherhood guild and went rogue. A few days have passed when I heard news that Haiba was kicked out of Raven Claw for letting us live. Now that I had a chance to talk with him I know that they didn't kick him out, but they gave him a choice, to find me and finish the job or to leave the guild, I'm glad he didn't choose the first option. Anyway.. soon after that I set out on a quest to find him. It took me almost 2 years or so to catch his trail, because after he abandoned the guild he became a wanderer. I caught up with him in the Valley of Death a few months back. When I approached him all he did was stare at me. His face showed no emotions. I just went ahead and said hi, started talking to him, but then I felt him riling up his aura. That was a sign that he wanted to fight.

The boy interrupts again.

- AND DID YOU??

Shieru glares at the boy with fire in her eyes. The boy shuts up and listens.

Of course we did. We dueled for 2 days straight. However, there was no clear victor. I noticed that he enjoyed fighting me and his frown turned into a playful smile. Kind of. I suggested we end our fight and go grab something to eat. I don't know what got into me. I would never suggest something like that while in a battle, but perhaps I just started to consider him a friend and that's what made me feel easy around him. I was surprised when he turned off his aura smiled and said " Yeah sure, I'm starving."

When we were eating I asked about him, his life and stuff and we kind of bonded. Then I asked if I could join him in his travels. He said no at first, but after I whined about it for 2 hours straight he let me join him.

BACK IN THE TAVERN

-And that is how I met Haiba.

- Wow.. He sounds like a nice guy when you describe him..

- He actually is a nice guy. Only he isn't too keen to show it to the public, haha! Anyhow.. I have to go now, I'm already late.

- Ohh I see.. I just don't know how I will reach Asur and find Master Sho.

- Why do you need that old geezer?

- I want him to train me. I want to be strong and show my father that I am not a good for nothing.

- Your father is one of the independent landlords that made an alliance with the Raven Claw, right?

- Yes... That must be the reason that Demon attacked me.. He must know who's son I am. And also, my father has made it further up in the ranks, now he is a member of the Capital's high council.. If more people knew who I was they would kidnap me for ransom, but knowing my father, he would just let me die.

- Don't worry, kid. I'll talk with Haiba. Listen, meet me at the old sawmill tomorrow at noon, okay?

- Okay, but what's this all about?

- Don't ask questions, just be there, I have a surprise for ya. -- Shieru winks at the boy.

- Alright got to go, see ya tomorow, kid. Ohh by the way, what's your name?

- Darius, my name is Darius - he smiled at me.

- That's a nice name, Darius, see ya.

Shieru left the tavern leaving Darius to pay the bill for all the food that she ate.

AN HOUR LATER AT THE BEACH

Haiba naps on the beach with only his swimming trunks. Shieru pokes his forehead.

- Wakey, wakey sleepy head.

He frowns and opens up one eye.

- Do that again and you're dead - he said and a moment of silence follows.

Shieru pokes the forehead again.

- That's it you're dead - Haiba screams furiously.

He chases Shieru along the beach in circles. Shieru trips over Haiba's bag and falls down. He stops and bursts with laughter.

- Hahahahahahaha, you klutz. - he laughed holding his stomach.

- Heheh, glad to see you're in a good mood. But dang it... I missed our day at the beach..

- No big deal, you made it to see the sunset though.

- Ayyyy, yes I did - she replies while changing the dress to a swimsuit and laying down in Haiba's spot.

- Umm.. that's my spot..

- It was your spot.

Haiba lets out an angry groan.

- Calm down tiger paws... there's plenty of room.

Haiba sits down.

- Listen, the boy that you tried to kill..

- He's the son of that fucker that had Breder destroyed..!

- Yes, but he's keen on getting stronger to prove himself to his father and maybe put a stop to his crimes.

Haib stays silent

- He tried to go to Asur to find someone to teach him how to master his inner strength and become stronger, but you wrecked his carriage. Soooo... I thought it would be a good idea if we trained him.

- ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!

- Ohh come on Haib.. He needs help..

- I am not training anyone... -- Haiba turns away and crosses his arms. Shieru grabs him by the shoulder:

- Come on you big piss baby, be a man. I will teach him the basic stuff and all the theory and you can teach him battle skills.

Haiba stays quiet

- It's what Maya would've wanted... You do know she wanted you to quit the killing and take up babysitting, here's your chance.

- Fine.. I'll do it. But don't expect me to go easy on that brat. If he can't handle my training he can get lost.

- Thanks lots Haib!!! I swear you will not regret it !! - she yells happily while wrapping her hands around his neck and squeezing him.

- I regret it already! -- he coughs while turning blue.
