an anon asked me to share my reshade preset, so here goes. presenting turniphead, a basic preset that simply brightens the game into a maxis match-friendly environment and adds depth of field for The Aesthetic. it’s very basic, and honestly anyone could have made it in under 5 minutes just messing around with reshade, but oh well haha. have fun saving some time in photoshop! feel free to make adjustments.

this is intended for the sims 2.

i created this preset using reshade 4.6.1. not sure how it works for previous versions.

there are no toggle effect keys, as i am lazy and didn’t feel the need to set them.

this preset (at least for me) is quite gameplay-friendly.

the depth of field shader it uses is called ADOF and sometimes it can be kinda weird, especially when trying to detect what to focus on and what to blur out. most of the time it works perfectly tho.

i use dreadpirate’s maxis match lighting mod, so i’m not sure how the preset looks against vanilla lighting or any other lighting mod.

I found these really cute taylor swift cardigan recolours made by @makesims and then found out @platinumaspiration converted the @clumsyalienn's mesh to ts2 so i decided to convert these retextures aswell :) MESH NOT INCLUDED GET IT HERE!!!

No Driving Without A Licence

Driving Licence

With this mod installed, Sims will no longer be able to jump in a car and drive somewhere (community lot, work, school, date, etc), they either need a driving licence or take a taxi.

There are three ways for a Sim to obtain a driving licence a) be given one by the player, b) be given one via “grandfather rights” or c) pass a driving test.

“Grandfather Rights” is a term for granting people privileges based on their prior experience - in this case the granting of a licence because the Sim or family already has a car.

Before taking a driving test, the Sim must learn to drive.  A Sim can either learn with an adult/elder family member who can drive, or they can book lessons with a driving instructor.

Optionally, a Sim needs to study for and pass their theory exam before they can take their test.

When a Sim has practised enough and feels confident, they may take their driving test - either by asking a family member to accompany them to the test centre or by making a phone booking.

Optionally, Sims will gain memories for passing/failing their driving exam/test.

There are many other options for the mod, please read the web page carefully before installing the various .package files that comprise this mod.

my dog rosie has gotten very ill all of a sudden and i have no clue what to do. we don't have enough money to go to our own doctors most of the time, let alone take her to a vet. she's stopped eating altogether and keeps throwing up any water she drinks. she's also having trouble peeing. earlier i watched her throw up in our living room and fall over onto her side in the puddle and lay there because she was too weak to get back up. i'm incredibly scared and have absolutely no idea what the best course of action is other than getting her into a vet, which i have no money for.

i'm putting my paypal on this post to hopefully raise enough to either get her into a vet or buy some things to keep her comfortable until she passes. thank you all so much. please keep her in your prayers if you can. this dog provided me a lot of comfort when my mom was dying and the thought of her also dying is devastating to me.

Mod: Community Lot Arrival Delay Fix - No Pre-Populate

I had a really hard time coming up with a name for this mod…and its still not great. Let me explain…

Do you ever get stuck in loading screens to a community lot longer than you think you should? Do you ever hear the lot being active, with sounds like music and other sims talking whilst you’re still looking at the loading screen? One time, I even got that little popup over the top of my loading screen to show me two sims were having a fight and my poor sims still hadn’t arrived yet!

It was getting to the point where I’d frequently lose hours of my sims time and their needs would have suffered because it took them so long to actually arrive at the community lot and my loading screen to disappear.

This mod fixes that, your sim will arrive at the community lot as soon as they are ready so your loading time will be as fast as possible. It does this by preventing the game from holding your sims back whilst the game spawns other visiting sims. So, now (unfortunately) your sims will always be the first to arrive, and other visiting sims will start to appear shortly after.

This isn’t the best for realism…it basically turns all your sims into Ke$ha, “now the party don’t start until I walk in…” but, it makes the most efficient use of your sims time and their needs won’t suffer so much when travelling to Community Lots.

For the longest time I thought this was caused by a mod, but I had no luck figuring out which one, then I saw someone ask @midgethetree​ this anonymous question, the answer to which made me realise that I could make this mod! Because I have limited modding knowledge, I followed up on this and asked for more advice here where Midge helped me even further. So a huge thanks to Midge, as this mod may have never been made without her.

Today's my birthday... so I'm giving everyone a present!

More conversions from TS4: these storage cubbies are by Ravasheen!

- The storage inserts can be placed in the shelves, and the shelves stacked, allowing for custom configurations. There is also a matching OFB cube shelf, which works like the maxis version.

- The inserts are cloned from the record store milk crates by @m0xxa and @shastakiss. the small shelf repo’d is to OFB shelf, so you'll need that bigger shelf in your game for the small ones to show up. The Shelves are found under Surfaces -> Shelves or Surfaces -> Misc in game.

- All inserts are repo’d to the art insert, and are found in Deco -> Misc, except the empty one, which is in Surfaces -> Misc. This has a slot so you can put objects in it!

- Thank you very much to @hugelunatic for fixing the OFB shelf.

As requested by one very enthusiastic Anon, today I’m sharing the setup of geneticized + townified skins I use in my game. It contains upwards to 100 geneticized skins (it’s actually 97, but shhhh,100 sounded better), and more than one half of them are also townie-enabled, meaning that they will randomly spawn on sims generated by your game. Say goodbye to bland townies! :D

What are geneticized/townified skins?

The 4 skins in your game have a ‘genetic’ value assigned by EA. Those values are: S1 = 0.10 | S2 = 0.30 | S3 = 0.60 | S4 = 0.90. If a custom skin is ‘geneticized’, it means that it has been assigned a genetic value by the player. In other words, the custom skin now acts like the four in-game skins: it becomes part of the skin colour spectrum and can be randomly inherited by sims born in the game, as long as it falls on or between the values of the parents’ skintones.

A ‘townified’ skin is, simply put, any custom skin that has been set to spawn on townies and NPCs generated by your game.

General Notes:

First and foremost: this is a HUGE set, so I’ve included a swatch card with names and previews for all skins which tells you exactly where each skin falls on the genetic scale, what their values are, which ones of them are townified, etc. Make sure to study it carefully!

Secondly, but equally importantly: I take NO credit for any of the skins included in this set! They were made by creators far more talented than myself, a full list of whom is included in the Read Me file that accompanies this download. Please take the time to actually read the Read Me, since it also contains links to the original uploads!

For more notes, disclaimers and fair warnings,  and so I don’t turn this post into a whole novel  please consult the Read Me file. It’s there for a reason!

This project has been kicking my ass, y'all have no idea. Here is a complete Mrs. Crumplebottom overhaul: hair, outfit, knitting, and outfit.

The outfit is a squoosh-up of @vulrien-sims lovely 4t2 HappyLifeSims Blouse with H-Line Skirt and 4t2 Rusty Princess of Suit outfits, converted to elder, @bunsblr's 3t2 Vitasims necklace, @executables-sims's Elexis Lola Pumps, originally converted by Martini and recolored by @keoni-chan and Bloom's lace gloves.

The hair is another mashup, this time of @yakumtsaki and @timeparadoxsims' 3t2 Simple Edit hair and a recolor of @rented-space's edit of @xwhitepolar's Ever Seasonal hat.

The purse and knitting are recolors by me.

Huge, huge, HUGE thank yous to @deedee-sims and @yakumtsaki for helping me out when I massively borked things up.
