Thanks to her last move, it doesn’t take much movement of her head to peer at the new speaker over the back of her chair - upside down, mind you, but she’s at least acknowledged him.In fact, once the smile-of-a-good-idea spread on her face, she made another move just to show that - an excited point dangerously close to booping the edge of his nose.
“Ooh, that’s a really good idea! Thank you!” Over the next few seconds, she dug out a scrap of paper and a pencil, writing down the lyrics she’d just sung and the notes to sing them at, and…
>:// CONNECTION FAILED. RETRY?
… Thunk. Head on table. “I’ve got nothing…”
He finds it a bit humorous how easily the towel was thrown after a single try for that method. He doesn’t blame her though, more so if she’s been trying to remember over and over and the line just doesn’t seem to want to fess up. He was caught a bit off guard earlier and how she almost, basically, booped his nose but that aside he finally stands up straight and dusts what ever dirt that might be on him.
“It isn’t going to come back the first couple of tries you know.” He’s sure it must be frustrating and infuriating but that’s no reason to just give up and call is quits. “Try singing another song in the mean time.” For the sake of time hopefully.

Zelnite hums to himself, catching the pokeball thrown his way. While he found the tone of the other’s words to be rather philosophical and boring, he did realize that his words did carry weight. Becoming a ‘trainer’ meant developing and sharing a relationship with the pokemon they chose to capture. So much weighed on Zelnite’s mind with that. He was determined to make new friends in this city, not just limiting himself to the people he knew from back home (even then it was a drastically small amount).
“Wow, that’s a heavy load.” he says in a joking tone. “But it’s nothing that experience won’t fix.” Thinking of what pokemon he’d want, the thief’s mind wandered to how hard it might be to actually find a pokemon that fit his personality best. Let’s start with the categories the other offered. “Any pokemon that works with the earth. Seeing as I carry an affinity to the earth, it might make me feel more at home.”
With that said, Zelnite pocketed the pokeball, smiling. “Thanks for the help. I wouldn’t have known where to start. Name’s Zelnite.” better to be on a name basis, he adds silently.
He isn’t one to think he’s all that and philosophical, but he can be when he wants to be. And to Brendan, Pokemon aren’t a subject to take very lightly. Many seem to forget that Pokemon are a species and have lives of their own. As fun as it is to have them around they aren’t just things to toy around with. Heck they’re not even things, they’re lives. So, before helping anybody in regards to Pokemon to someone who isn’t very familiar with them he makes sure that they’re at least on that same page. He’s glad to see that he gets through to this guy with ease so he smiles. “It’s nice to meet you,” he nods his head. “My name’s Brendan.” He also introduces himself, since that’s a good way to start.
“An earth pokemon huh?” He says in thought. He’s got the right idea, choosing something with some similarities to himself is a good way to start and choose which one he might want and think would kick it off pretty easily. He already has a good idea of which one to try and dish out, the only issue here is that he lacks a proper location for it since Brendan’s only familiar with so much of the city. “Earth pokemon can usually be found in places with not many people.” And earthy terrains obviously. “I just got here a few days ago so I’m not too familiar with this place yet. Do you happen to know where there’s an area with little to no people lingering around?”

hcennite:
She had crouched down to pick up Torchic, but extended her arms to the little grass-type and scooped him up as well. With both Pokemon in her arms, May tried not to coddle and coo the Treecko too much and focus on Brendan’s questions. It was difficult to get past the fact that he was here. While she was worried about what it meant for his team and everyone back home–who would be next?–she was so incredibly happy and simply relieved to see him. It made Hive City feel warmer just to know that he was there with her.
He was there, though, wasn’t he?
Suddenly she found herself second guessing his very existence despite having had nearly tackled him seconds ago, and holding Treecko right then. What if he was a very good hallucination? She wouldn’t put it past her brain to conjure something like this up. Only one way to find out. Shifting the Pokemon in her arms, she pinched Torchic’s cheek who in turn bit down on her finger. It hurt. Definitely awake. Then she reached over, and pinched Brendan’s cheek. Just for good measure. She hadn’t seen him since she left Hoenn to challenge the Unovan League, so she had to be sure.
The wide grin on the brunette’s face only faltered slightly at the mention of their missing Pokemon.
“—yeah, but I’m sure they’re fine! And Torchic doesn’t seem t’mind much, since he gets t’be carried around again. And I mean, they would tell us if something was wrong with our Pokemon, I think, and I’ve been here for a li’l over a month without any word, so…”
There was a small lull on her behalf. It didn’t feel like she’d been in Hive City for that long, but just recently she’d acquired a cellphone, and according to others in the city, you only got one if you were within the city for at least a month.
“Apartment D-1. S’pretty nice! Where were you put?”
“Don’t spoil him too much.” He teases his partner who glares at him when May picks him up, Brendan waving his hand to dismiss his own comment as something that shouldn’t be taken too seriously. He does arch a brow at her when he notes the sudden bite Torchic gives her finger. “H..hey are you okay?” He asks with some concern. What’s she going about doing that? He’s sure she knows Torchic better than anybody and that it was going to bite her like that for pulling such a small stunt. Ekko seems to be wondering the same thing but he’s already got an educated guess which gets its answer when she herself pulls on his cheek. “H-Hey!” He rests his hand over where she pinched him and rubs his cheek.
“C’mon May was that really necessary?” He glares a bit at Ekko who’s grinning from ear to ear, finding the sight humorous no less. “I’m the real thing I swear.” Since apparently almost tackling him down and holding his partner was not evidence enough for her. He doesn’t entirely blame her though which is why he doesn’t continue with his argument. There’s good reasoning behind it, he honestly and probably would have been doing the very same thing. He does notice the slight upset his question brings her in regards to her pokemon, an upset he feels all too well too. “A month and nothing huh?” The thought’s a bit scary but he’s not going to let that bring him down so he nods his head. “I’m sure we’ll get them back, don’t worry.” It might be tough but he’s sure there’s some hope in there. He finds it difficult to process that she’s been in this place for a month now though..that’s quite a while for sure. It must be a heavy weight on her but like her not to show any of it and the last thing he wants to do is bring her down any more.
“No way! You got an apartment?!” He can’t help his surprise. She actually got a nice place to live in. Sector one too, he’s only been there a couple of times but it isn’t so bad. He places his hand on the back of his head. “Ekko and I were placed on the district under sector six. District Zeta. I have a tree house there.” What luck.
#hcennite#).episode 10#// honestly he's only been here a few days#// so he's just as glad to see a friend even if he didn't have to wait too long

Usually content with staying in May’s arm or his pokeball, Torchic didn’t make it a habit to stray too far from his trainer. His lax nature kept him close to the brunette just in case he decided he didn’t want to walk on his own anymore. Of course when curiosity got the best of him, he did hop away to investigate whatever it was that had caught his attention, but even then May was always within earshot. This time, however, was different.
His trainer was busy with whatever it was she was doing when Torchic heard a familiar voice. She hopped around May’s feet, scanning the area for the voice and trying to catch any sort of scent. The fire-type peeked between the brunette’s legs, locked sight of him, and booked it toward the familiar pair. May turned as soon as she realized that his chirps were too quiet for him to be close by. She spun so fast, she almost tripped over her own feet, but was able to recover before falling.
“—Torchic!! Where are you go–”
She froze for the briefest of seconds before following Torchic’s example and running toward her friend and his partner. She launched herself at him and engulfed him in a tight hug. Releasing him, May held him an arm’s length away.
“Brendan!! I’m so glad t’see you! When did you get here? How’s everything back home? Are you doing alright? Oh! Treeko! They did the thing to him, too…”
Needless to say but he should have probably seen that coming, but he’s still a bit in shock that May’s actually here.
He stumbles a bit when she launches herself at him to embrace him in a warm hug, something he does in return as soon as he recovers his footing to show that he’s just as happy to see her just as much as she is to see him. Her being here’s a bit unexpected and he isn’t too sure how to entirely feel about it considering the circumstances this city was under according to what he’s collected in regards to information of it, but all of those trouble infested thoughts are set aside and replaced with the joy of the company of a dear friend. She’s here and safe. He wonders if the possibilities of Wally being here, the way she reacted to him suggested that probably not, but it might still be up in the air that someday he would. Again, not entirely sure if good or bad. Before he releases her from the hug he lifts her a bit up, laughing in glee for the first time in what’s already been a few days since his arrival here, before setting her back down and the hug ends. Soon as it started. “I’m so glad to see you too May!” He voices his joy to her, a smile to match her own on him as well. Ekko shares this same happiness, who’s hopping up and down with his hands up and saying what roughly sounds like her name over and over again. “I only got here a few days ago, this Hive city place.” He shrugs.
He takes her question a bit with surprise but then again he never really was around much after everything that happened, would only visit every now and then. How long has she been here? “Everything back home’s just fine. I was actually on my way back home when I was brought here,” however that happened. “It’s been a long time since I’ve seen you,” and that it has. He’s glad to see that she’s safe, and not just her but her Torchic as well, who suffered the same fate as his Treecko. “I see they drained Torchic a bit too huh?” He offers a smile out of sympathy. “Did they take the rest of your Pokemon too? How long have you been in this place?” She seems to be taking it rather well, or just putting it up that she is.
To her question in regards if he’s doing fine or not he considers being honest but opts against it for the time being and joy of the moment. “I’ve been great! Even better now that you’re here!” He beams. “How about you? Where did these scientists place you?”

He tosses the spare pokeball he found lying around towards the one behind him. “A pokemon is just as strong and wise as its trainer. Just like the trainer depends on its pokemon, the pokemon depends on its trainer. Between both parties there should be silent mutual trust and faith, if it’s not there then you can’t expect to get anywhere. Many believe that from the start it’s all one-sided, that the trainer and the one that has the pokeball chooses the pokemon, but I don’t believe it to be that way.” Brendan continues, turning around completely and crossing his arms. “The pokemon also chooses who it wants to be with. Let it proven through the strength that was shown to them through a battle or kindness or just plain out being impressed. A relationship between a trainer and its pokemon has to be a sanctioned pillar of understanding.” He finishes with a breath he expels and lets out. Sharing what he knows and believes about all of this..it’s been a while.
“If you want a pokemon I’m willing to help you out but I need you to understand these fundamentals first.” Coming from the Hoenn champion, who’s to expect less. There’s a face he has to keep even when away from the region. “If there’s a certain type describe it for me or if you have a set name for one then give it to me and we’ll get searching.”

The sudden voice snaps him back, and just at the right moment, too. Had he waited just a few seconds longer, he was sure to have a devoured finger or two. Aladdin straightens himself out, taking in the appearance of the new company. From what he could recall, most of these creatures had a partner - this must be this one’s!
“I’ve only seen two, but none of them have looked like this,” His curiosity is getting the better of him fairly quickly, and it’s no wonder when he leans down once again to examine the pokemon before him. “Do they have different magic types? He looks like he could be a Purple Magician!”
He looks at Ekko and offers him an apologetic smile. “Temper, Ekko.” He warns him however, and to it his partner just huffs and nods his head. Assuring Brendan that he’ll keep a closer eye on it and better control of it while he’s at it. Brendan knows he means no harm which is why he wants to double check and make sure things don’t get too out of hand. More so if there’s no point for it either. “Only two huh?” Brendan isn’t unfamiliar to the fact that there’s other pokemon here anymore. “Magic?” Brendan questions.
“A purple what now?” He asks, completely off track as he takes his spot next to the boy. He’s going way too off with what pokemon are. “He’s a grass-type pokemon. Known as the gecko pokemon too.” He tries to explain a bit. “There’s no magic here,” even if pokemon are still full of mysteries they’re their own existence, their own kind. Not humans but their own species. “Pokemon are their own species.” He tries to make it a bit more clear. “Just like us humans are our own.”

…What was wrong with her!? Why couldn’t she remember any songs!? She was certain she knew this; with a title like Japan Bridge Overpass Under R Plan, it would be hard to forget - so why had she!? Her lament was shown to the world with an exaggerated lean back, hands running back through a mountain of hair. She was trying not to make a scene, and sadly was failing the more she investigated.
“Gahhh! I thought I knew this oooone!”
Brendan isn’t very sure what’s going on but it seems like she’s trying to remember some kind of song. What song that is, he isn’t sure, since what she does manages to remember doesn’t sound at all too familiar to him. He can tell she’s on the verge of frustration- or well she’s already frustrated. What kind of singing is that anyway? It’s unlike any he has heard before.
He isn’t the only one who’s watching her, she’s gotten a few eyes from others here and there but he sighs nonetheless. “Why don’t you just write down what you do remember and go from there?” He finally suggests, unable to keep quiet. “Reading it over and over to yourself, the next line’s bound to come back to you.” More so if it’s a song she made.

ah-rooooo:
✴-❝Cool, cool Brendan, GAHAHA! Sorry for the scare!❞
Lobo said with a bit of an apologetic smile, feeling a bit bad for taking so much enjoyment out of this. He helped pulled up the other as they got back to their feet. Once the trainer stood up to his feet, the wolf crossed his arms, his smile never wavering as they spoke.
✴-❝Ah, first timer. I get the feeling buddy, ah-rooooo. This place is called the Hive City! Never knew why it was called that, but it works! Better than some of the town names I’ve heard of back home… And I don’t know how to answer that, ah-rooooo. I wanna say no, you can’t leave, but I’ve already come and gone a few times! Honestly it just is up to the scientists if you leave or not.❞
That there is exactly what Brendan dreaded to hear. That his fate is in somebody else’s hands that aren’t his own. “Up to them huh?” His disheartening is loud and clear in his voice and his hopes are easily seen to be shattered upon his face. Why did they choose to drag him specifically though? Do they have some kind of choosing and picking system or it’s just random, and more important how did they manage to do it in just a blink of an eye?
“Hmm..” He rests a hand under his chin and closes his eyes in thought. He doubts Lobo’s picking on him anymore and he did just say that he has gone and came back multiple times. That’s pretty odd all on its own, but it’s a positive in all of the negative. The stay can’t be permanent but the threat that it can be is still there. Not one to wear a frown for too long though, he picks himself up right away and waves his hand in silent thank you before actually saying so. “Thanks. Must be pretty obvious I’m a new comer huh?” He must look like some lost puppy to those who have been here a while probably. It’s a funny thought. “It’s a lot to take in.” When isn’t he trying to process too much a teen boy needs to process though? It was the same back home, but he guesses he just got so used to the quiet and peace after everything that happened. “Is there a way to talk to these scientists Lobo?”

It’s easy to see the excitement and joy on his face when he holds the small little fire pokemon in his hands. At long last! A pokemon he’s extremely familiar with! Not just that but it was friendly to him! Or at least it didn’t attack him when he picked it up. “Hey Ekko look!” Ekko seems to radiate the same joy as Brendan, more so when he realizes that it isn’t going to attack his trainer. “Are you alone?” He asks, but he can easily tell that it belonged to someone else, it’s a domesticated torchic not a wild one. “Heh,” he smiles a bit, but it’s cast over with some sadness. It reminds him of back home and more specifically his friend May. She used to have one just like this one before it became a full grown and powerful Blaziken. “I hope she’s doing alright.” He says quietly. He misses both her and Wally and his family. In such a big place with none of them..it just feels wrong. It makes him feel lonely, more so with little to less than half of his pokemon team. Ekko seems to sense Brendan’s sadness and pats his trainer’s leg as some sort of comforting gesture to which Brendan immediately lights up again. Not wanting to worry him. “Heh don’t worry, we’ll go back home eventually!” He nods, he hopes.
He does however, wonder why this torchic was so friendly towards him from the get-go, almost like it knew him from somewhere else or something. The little pokemon seems to want him to let it go so he does without protest. He gets down on one knee and lets it roam wherever it is it wants to go. He rests his arm on his knee and watches it wander off to someone else only distances away from him. It must be its trainer, so naturally he looks up at them, wanting to tell them that their pokemon’s fine and that it just bumped into him but the words don’t come or the line he has in mind to say isn’t said for the face he sees is one he’s far too familiar with. “May..?” He asks in clear disbelief, Ekko shares the same shocked expression, being caught off guard. When did she get here?

“It seems like everything these scientists failed at is under the city, huh Ekko?” He thought Zeta was a mess, but then he got a good look at this place. The boy’s already taking notes. It’s District Alpha, right under sector one which looks like an every day sector until you take a good load of this place. Ekko’s stamped on the walls of this place, seeing as how there’s water everywhere one steps on so Brendan just takes hold of him and rests him on his shoulders. Every turn he takes he looks every side he possibly can. For some reason he feels like he’s being watched or like something’s following him. It’s a very unsettling feeling and it has the young teen boy on edge as he continues to walk through the waters. How can people live down here? Then again that’s what he also thought when he looked at Zeta, but he already has a tree house there to call his home. “How can anybody live down here though?” He wouldn’t be okay with that.
