How much discourse do you think there is in the kpop demon hunters universe over Huntrix's breakup? I assume half the fans are analyzing every second of footage from the last three years looking for signs of tension and arguing about the whose fault it was and half the fans are posting that it's actually kind of fucked up to ruin the Idol Awards with a fake onstage breakup just to build up to dropping a new song, even if it is kind of a banger

My headcanon about Queen Vanessa I (More Personal)

Living near the incredibly dangerous Roach species is hard enough, so Vanessa wanted to maintain the status quo.

She doesn't want to others bring any other troubles into the mix.

Long ago, roaches and wasps went to war, and wasps in Bugaria were completely defeated, almost to the point of being wiped out.

(This was because of the Ancient Crown, but that part is not well-known. Wasp of the past were ashamed of their defeat and hid part of their history.)

Of the few surviving wasps, while the other wasps abandoned Bugaria and dispersed to various places, Vanessa I's nest was the only one that chose to remain near Bugaria, despite knowing the danger of roachs.

In this place they had to be constantly on guard against roachs, who could destroy them, but they had less need to be on guard against attacks from dead landers (compared to other nests).

In recent years, sightings of roachs had been decreasing.

Vanessa had her hands full trying to keep the warlike wasps in check, who keep asking, "Isn't now the right time?" and "Shouldn't we take back our former territory?".

The current nest is more than enough for Vanessa and her wasps to live comfortably.

Vanessa thought that there was no need to reclaim the "former territory". Since no one was alive anymore who knew what it was like back then.

Plus, who knows what the Roaches are thinking. What would happen if wasps got cocky because they hadn't seen roaches for a while?

Vanessa didn't want to put her children at risk.

Vanessa was surprised to see the bugs outside Bugaria invading roach's territory as if it were their own, yet roachs remained docile.

Immediately afterwards, the hot-blooded wasps naturally attacked the newcomers, leaving Vanessa with a headache.

Even if the roaches really did disappear, there's no way they could suddenly increase the population to cultivate such a large area (Because Vanessa is the only one who can have children)...It would be better to allow the invasive bugs to clear and develop the land. We can just push the risk of being attacked by roaches onto those bugs.

Vanessa managed to stop wasps from seriously escalating the situation into war, and gladly accepted Queen Elizant I's peace proposal.

When her meeting with Elizant II ended in failure, Vanessa realized just how dependent she had been on Elizant I.

Queen Elizant I was so amazing. She seemed to read Vanessa's mind and always had the perfect response ready. She always managed to motivate the proud wasps without offending them.

Vanessa relied entirely on Elizant for negotiations with other countries and development plans for the entirety of Bugaria. Because as long as she left it to Elizant, everything would have gone perfectly without Vanessa having to do anything.

So what Vanessa felt towards Elizant II was not anger, but shame towards herself.

After the alliance with the Ant Kingdom falls apart, the Bee Kingdom and the Wasp Kingdom secretly make a pact.

On the surface, the alliance between the Wasp Kingdom and the Bee Kingdom is broken in order to align with the Ant Kingdom, but they continued to communicate secretly.

The Wasp Kingdom wanted trade and information, while the Bee Kingdom also wanted protection for travelers from the north.

Wasps were so enraged by the Ant Kingdom that they refused to openly protect tourists. As a reaction to the past, wasps had become increasingly distrustful of other species and could not allow other bugs to "carelessly enter the dangerous border zone, relying on the wasps for rescue".

Eventually, the Wasp Kingdom ostensibly banned travelers from entering the country. Wasps managed to agree that if any travelers did indeed enter, they would be protected and secretly sent to the Bee Kingdom.

The Queen of Bees shared Vanessa's feelings...we had relied too much on Queen Elizant I.

We must maintain peace until Elizant's daughter calms down.

The two queens agreed that this was the only way to repay Elizant I's kindness and devotion.

This is a headcanon that originated from the question, "Why was the Bug Ranger able to perform inside the Wasp Kingdom?"

In the Bee Kingdom, only the upper echelons and a small minority of citizens know that they are secretly interacting with the wasps.

The rest of the public is not informed. The Wasp Kingdom is considered the potential enemy. Because wasps don't care that bugs are afraid of them.

Meanwhile, all the people of the Wasp Kingdom know of the secret alliance between them and the Bee Kingdom.

Among the wasps, especially those of Vanessa I's children's generation, hate the Ant Kingdom.

...I created this as an important setting that leads into the lonely flame AU...but in the end, I feel like it became a headcanon that could be used as is outside of the AU.

The lonely flame chapter 0 - 0

There was a bug.

He had been living alone in a dark, dark forest for as long as he could remember.

There were many different creatures in the forest. Big ones, small ones, ones with lots of arms, ones with lots of eyes, ones that could fly, ones that burrowed underground...

Every creature had a "similar" one. Even if they differed slightly in shape or size, similar creatures lived close to each other and hunted together.

He had no similar one.

With one exception, he was the only one.

...He didn't know that it was "loneliness". The only emotion he understood was "fear".

He had been alone all this time, barely surviving in a forest filled with creatures far stronger and more frightening than him.

One day, he was finally cornered by a swarm of forest creatures.

He prepared himself for death, but was saved by other bugs.

His first soft bed. His first nutritious meal. His first encounter with a creature that looked just like him and didn't attack him. 

These creatures, completely different from the creatures of the forest, were "similar" to him.

...And for the first time in his life, he felt relieved.

He wasn't alone. There was someone who was "similar" to him.

He thought that in this place he could surely live without encountering any fear.

...But what awaited him was contempt and violence.

At first, he was simply confused. 

He wondered if they do this because he couldn't do what his "similars" did. He desperately imitated their words and actions, and without a proper teacher, he taught himself much. He tried desperately, fearing the punches and insults they would throw at him.

...And he understood the meaning of the words "fake" and "vermin" that his "similar" called him.

For the first time, "anger" was born within him.

In a corner of a half-abandoned library, he finds a description of "The Everlasting Sapling", which grants eternal life and immense power to those who eat just one leaf.

He remembered. In that dark, dark forest,

there was one exception that, like him, had no "similars".

Just seeing that huge shadow moving in the distance made all the living things in the surrounding area...creatures far stronger and more terrifying than him, all hold their breath and hide in the gaps between the trees...

He wondered if, if he could obtain The Everlasting Sapling, he could become like that shadow.

Even if there was no "similars", he could become a single being that would inspire awe in all living things.

If he could become such a being... this time, surely...

…live without encountering any fear.

but no really thinking about the logistics of celine's solo Hunter era make me unwell because that's what. a decade? a decade and half?? of being the one person who HAS to not die lest the world end.

imagine having to live like that for about 15 years. around 5,475 days. no backup, on constant alert and ready to upend your entire schedule the moment the honmoon flickers.

there's no way gwi-ma didnt seize the chance to be a bitch about the weakened honmoon/missing hunter(s) either.

even if you went with the idea that sunlight sister tres didnt disappear the same time miyeong did, the idea of doing that alone for years is still just....

you know how zoey and mira were getting overwhelmed in the bathhouse just from the sheer fact that rumi hadn't been around? like, sure, celine has decades of experience under her belt but what does that say about her when huntr/x already IS terrifyingly efficient at killing demons when theyre Locked The Fuck In (which was basically every fight except for the train)

You are a fan of internationally-acclaimed K-pop group Huntrix. They drop a new single to wild success and its debut performance is canceled without clear explanation. Huntrix's management says something about a medical condition with the lead singer.

At the same time a new boyband debuts with a song that tops all the charts. The boyband doesn't seem to have a management company. Or names. Maybe that doesn't matter because their sound IS catchy. Huntrix is completely out of the public eye except for two appearances alongside this new boyband where they are there exclusively to beef. It's maybe a PR stunt. It's maybe because Rumi is exes with one of the only two named members of the Saja Boys.

People start going missing at a rate 4x the national average. You probably wouldn't even know about this except that 3 of the missing people were big names on Stan Twitter so it's kind of a big deal. There are four different high-traction posts claiming all the recent missing people were Saja Boy fans. But that's like claiming all the recent missing people drank water and breathed air.

Rumi is still on medical leave but Huntrix management is saying Huntrix WILL be at the K-pop Awards. Someone on Twitter's uncle's friend works in a recording studio and he says Huntrix is debuting a song which tells the Saja Boys to die. The exes theory gets a lot of traction. Twitter tries to doxx Jinu to confirm the theory but no one can figure out who he is. Twitter tries to doxx the other Saja Boys to the same lack of success. One account said she had "a lead" but her Twitter has been silent for 72 hours since.

Rumi is back from medical leave for the K-pop Awards just in time to have a massive falling-out and break-up on stage. This probably devastated you but you don't really remember it. The Saja Boys invite everyone to a concert. A lot of people who went don't remember going, and you'd call that suspicious except you also went and don't remember going.

Somehow no one in the crowd of 10,000 thought to record the concert on their phone. Maybe there was a "no phones" rule but usually there are still leaks. No one has any video or photo evidence of this concert happening. However you all collectively remember hearing "What It Sounds Like" at the concert (before it debuted 4 days later from Huntrix's label.) This does not make a lot of sense because this was a Saja Boys concert, supposedly. Someone says they saw Zoey impale at least one of the Saja Boys. You would brush this off as a stupid rumor but 2-dozen other people are saying the same thing and you a little bit remember it too.

There's a lot of people saying "Let's wait for an official statement from the Saja Boys" on Twitter but they've been saying that for 2 weeks now and no one has seen or heard from them since the concert. There's a lot of people saying "Zoey killed them fr" which was a joke at first and now, is not not a joke, but it hits a little different.

Most of you are kinda over SB Twitter at this point so you kind of don't care anymore but there are a few remaining fans who've doubled down on the doxxing effort to figure out if they're okay. It's not going well. One person claims to have found Jinu's identity but everyone thinks she's stupid because that guy died literally 400 years ago. YES the royal court's painting of him looks identical and yes that guy was a singer too, but come on, the K-pop look is 90% make-up anyway.

Look I'm sorry to anyone who thought the Saja Boys were a real band, but it was obviously fake from the beginning.

Huntr/x has been doing this gimmick for years where they'll put on a performance and some actors dressed up like demons will "interrupt" it or get into some choreo fights on stage and stuff. If you're a fan you know, the demons usually symbolize things like industry corruption, Mira's struggle with her family, Rumi being in the closet, etc, and there's lots of hints and secret messages to the fans in what they're wearing or how they show up. Check out huntresx5evah on blsky they've got an extensive examination of the "demons" over the years and what the messages to the fans are.

In the concert before Golden was released, the demons were dressed like flight attendants. That was the indication that something new was about to take off. @/queenhuntrixdontmiss and I speculated that it was going to be a new single and low and behold, it was.

But then the live performance got cancelled. It's an open secret that Rumi was having vocal issues, so that was probably not planned. They needed to buy time for her to recover, so, enter the Saja Boys -- a fake band of guys really clearly pretending to be demons, they release ONE single, do a bunch of b-tier variety shows for a week, nearly all of their public appearances have Huntr/x right there, keeping the hype and energy up until Rumi can get her throat polyps removed and furthering the routine where Huntr/x are supposed to be secret demon hunters and the Saja Boys are supposed to be secret demons.

Then the whole thing culminates in the Golden live performance at the idol awards, the big act with Huntr/x fake "break up" and the subsequent theatrics to make it up to fans for failing the first Golden performance. Huntr/x takes their obligation to fans very seriously, I've no doubt that they all felt terrible about having to cancel, so a free show was the obvious recourse to try and make it up to people. And they pulled out all the stops!

But the Saja Boys were never real. I mean they got real guys to pretend to be a boy band and do the dancing and lip syncing obviously, but come on, most of them didn't even have names.

An AU where technically nothing’s changed, except everyone knows Tsumugi is the mastermind, and that they’re trapped in a show: but not only they’re still helpless against her and cannot escape (neither can Tsumugi herself) - they also have to deal with her contractualy obligated sponsorship announcements during trials and investigations… including 30-second-long unskipabble ads before the monitor presents voting results and the blackened.

What dignity? What respect? Everything is a commercialised farce, and everyone, including Tsumugi, is perpetually oscillating between exasperated apathy and resigned frenzy.

Their sanity is doing fine, they tell themselves.
