Numaish 2011
Numaish or All India Industrial Exhibition is an annual event held at Hyderabad. It is one of the most popular events on Hyderabad's calendar and is held at its own permanent venue at Nampally. It is organised for a period of 45 days starting with the New Year and ending mid-February. People from all around Hyderabad and neighbouring towns flock in to shop and have a good time. I and a couple of friends visited it on Saturday the 12th February, 2011. We were there to have fun. Due to the heavy foot traffic we shot random clips and edited to this wonderful tune "Pain" by La Olla Express (You can find them on Jamendo.com). We used a Canon EOS 7D (with a 50mm f/1.8 and a 28-135mm) & a Canon point and shoot to capture all the video.

HOP
My first ever project and that too a Hollywood one. I'm really happy to see my work viewed by millions around the world. Can't wait for the movie to release (Easter 2011). If all goes about well, I'll be getting my first onscreen credit too. Here is my IMDB credit.

Secret Lake
Durgam Cheruvu or Secret Lake lies hidden amongst hills surrounding Madhapur, Tolichowki and Jubilee Hills. Its not secret any more though. Commercial and official developments have now reached it and now are more popular than the lake itself. InOrbit Mall is one of the largest malls in Hyderabad. This is 3 image panorama shot at about 1845hrs and is a HDR image.
Shot on: Canon EOS 7D, 4 sec exp (-2.6,0,2.6 AEB) at f/8 with ISO 100.
Location: From behind the lake atop an apartment complex at Madhapur, Hyderabad.

Shot on: Canon EOS 7D, 1/2 of a sec exp (-1.3,0,1.3 AEB) at f/6.3.
Location: Unfinished road leading to InOrbit Mall from Madhapur, Hyderabad.

Tranquility in Chaos
Buddha statue signifying tranquility and the city of Hyderabad Chaos.
This was shot at about midnight. I was driving on the Buddha Purinma Road, having just watched Inception and still wondering if I was in a dream or reality. The scene across Hussainsagar Lake was pretty sublime and since I'm crazy about HDRI, this too is a HDR image.
Shot on: Canon EOS 7D, 2 secs exp (-2,0,2 AEB) at f/8.
Location: Buddha Purnima Raod, HussainSagar Lake, Hyderabad.

Oloneo PhotoEngine
Above is a photoset with a some pictures i shot in the past few months. All of them are HDR and I made them using Oloneo PhotoEngine.
This superb software has simplified my workflow by N times.
Although slightly inferior to Photomatix and PS tools. It has its own set of gears that run at lightning speed. I love the amazing realtime updates you get as you edit. The software also allows versioning for a review process. Although it lacks a presets option the tools are easy and fast to handle hence you can work fast and better on all your pictures.
I even fed it a 27 set HDR and it worked like Schumi on the track.
Another aspect I love about it is the Adobe Bridge like UI. It makes my work so much more organized and neat. It can handle Raw from most DLSRs and outputs just rcd, tiff and jpg with only a few customizations... but I don't care. I only share on the web and the 8 bits out of this software are the exact 8 bits I want. It has more tricks up its sleeve like relighting and Raw editing that are mind blowing.
If you'd like try it out. Visit Oloneo PhotoEngine and download the beta for free.
Thanx to Mohammed Anuz (a colleague of mine) and the folks across at fxphd forums for the find.

Its pouring outside and I can't get Home
A quick and random short made by bored visual effects artists. :) It was raining heavily outside, so Vishwanath and I waited at the cafeteria for a little while. We were having a few discussions about visual effects and stuff when we decided to make an impromptu short. We ended up shooting a few clips and some how managed to shoot a stop motion short too (It was really short so I included it here and placed it at the end of this video). It was quite a difficult edit, I repeated each take twice to make it look lengthy. So here you go. "Its pouring outiside and I can't get Home" A situational title for an impromtu short. Staring - Vishwanath Shirodkar Concept, Direction, Editing and Visual Effects - Aditya Kolli Audio - "Elle by MindThings from the album Resonance" (I have been meaning to use this song for ages. Finally here it is. You can find MindThings on Jamendo).

Clouds always fascinate me.
Morning Landscape
It was very pleasant morning and the clouds made Hyderabad much cooler and pleasurable to drive. Looked just like a Matte Painting.
Location: 11th Floor, The Vega, Ascendas IT Park, Madhapur, Hyderabad.
Evening Sun
The Sunrays add a lot of life to the clouds, especially during Dusk.
Location: Madhapur, Hyderabad.

Prototype Repulsor
With a lot of meetups over weekends and having watched Iron Man 2 recently, we decided to make our very own Energy Repulsor. Poor Avadhani, he held the Nokia 5800 Prototype Repulsor in place for 8 seconds. :) Had a great discussion that day. Reminded me of school days when we used to quarrel and fight over who buys which comics. We used to buy different comics and share them with the rest of the group. Lucky I collected Iron Man :) Should get them off the attic sometime, they always are a good read. Date: 23/05/2010 Location: Nik's Place, Uppal, Hyderabad.

My step through the door...
Tumblr media
I got selected to the Rhythm & Hues 'Digital Rotoscope Artist' Apprenticeship program. I'm really so happy. It is really gr8 news to me. I just graduated this August in Computer Science Engineering and started to pursue my passion (vfx) with fxphd training. It has been really good and this apprenticeship opportunity proves it.
Thank you fxphd!! You made it happen!!
The image above has photos of the ID cards I had since I first visited the RnH facility here in Hyderabad.
So I finally landed a great job, started a blog... what nxt?
