For the Uninitiated - The Twine

The Twine is what we call the infinite web of worlds beyond our own, and the empty space that connects them all. In simpler terms, it might be best described as a 'multiverse'.

It is called the Twine because of how interconnected each world is; woven together, akin to a tapestry. Two worlds might be wholly unique from each other, but can eventually be traced to a point where they meet.

However, even as tightly woven and infinite as the Twine is, a world having fully-developed interdimensional travel is rare. Most knowledge on that front is employed only to Warlocks, and they are usually required to keep their work a secret. The few that can tread the paths between reality are known simply as "Twine-walkers". All Warlocks are Twine-walkers, but not every Twine-walker is a Warlock.
