I was expecting the How To Train Your Dragon books to be good, but I didn't expect to be shaken to my core by the end of the serie like I am. Like. Woaw. The story. The characters. The themes. I just love everything about these books.

That dreadful feeling knowing that Furious was right about humanity being unable to change, and history being doomed to repeat itself. Ain't we seeing that happening right now with the state of the current world. But also the hopeful feeling that Hiccup was right too to stand for peace and a better future. Wether that future will last or not, as long as you try your best to make it eventually happens.

I just finished Doom of the Darkwing

!! SPOILERS !!

Cressida. You cannot make me believe this book is just a silly add-on story to the rest of the series and then add THAT at the end??!? WHAT?!? ARGSHHSHSHSS I’M GOING IN. SANE. WHAT DO YOU MEANNNNN ARGHHHH STOP STOP

Do you know what this means… Camicazi has never EVER gotten any lore-relevant plot lines or anything, the only major conflict in her story was when she betrayed Hiccup when he revealed the Slavemark, but she hasn’t been part of any of the lore…

BUT NOW IT’S BASICALLY CONFIRMED SHE IS

I’m pretty sure and at least I hope this plot-line is gonna be set post book 12, like we know there’s gonna be a book 13.

And also, in When the Windwalker Changed, we see Hiccup and obviously a lot of time has passed, so I’m fairly sure book 13 will be set when the trio are adults?

So this just makes things so much more interesting AAAAARGHHHH

GOD, I have literally thought about the concept of villain Camicazi for ages now, what do you MEAN this could actually become canon now?!?! Whether Cami becomes a full-fledged villain or just against Hiccup in some way, EITHER WAY, I’m so excited I could burst - Cressida did you write this plot line just for me?!? I am literally the number 1 Camicazi fan and now she’s getting fleshed out!?!

Hiccup may be the villain or force of bad in the prophecy instead, but idk I feel like that’s less likely to happen considering one of the traits that separates Camicazi from Hiccup is how ruthless she is compared to him. Either way it’s so interesting to think of why the pair would be against each other considering Camicazi is furiously loyal to Hiccup.

I don’t wanna get my hopes up, but Cressida seems to be hinting that this plot line will be very big buuut idk.

My theory about How to Train Your Dragon new book (SPOILER ALERT)

Well, I haven’t read it yet, but I’ve seen some screenshots, and to be honest, I got excited—I was waiting for something like this. It seems like there’s a prophecy involving Hiccup and Camicazi, and here’s what I think:

Excellinor knew. She knew a lot of things, which is why, out of nowhere, she provokes Camicazi by calling Hiccup her boyfriend, and then tries to turn her against him by saying he was tricked by Snotlout again. She even tells her that Hiccup has flaws, pointing them out as if to warn her or make her doubt him.

Old Wrinkly probably knows something too. I always thought it was strange how they talk about Fishlegs' crushes, then suddenly cut to Camicazi’s friends wanting to dance with Hiccup, and she shoos them away saying love is bad business. Then Old Wrinkly, nearby, comments that things are going to change.

In both of these situations, Hiccup’s reaction is never shown.

They must—or were supposed to—hate each other, and the reference to the "chess queen" also seems to be something that should have happened. It feels like there are two possible paths to follow, and one of them is destined to happen.

I don’t know, I didn’t expect this from Cressida. I’m excited about these new books! I’m going to buy this one to read.

I'm just thinking like; I always feel like Camicazi and Hiccup's friendship coasts on their personal respect for one another and her being down for anything if it sounds like an adventure.

For most of the series she comes off largely apolitical and inattentive to the ideological battled around her. That for sure starts changing after Dragon's Sword, but a chunk of that still feels predicated on following Hiccup's foot steps and a love for the heroing business.

So what happens if in the future, she outright disagrees with a decision from Hiccup and takes a stand on it? Especially if she becomes the Chief of The Bog Burglars one day and Hiccup can't just expect her to easily side with him anymore.

What if

'No, no,' Hiccup assured her. It wasn't that, I knew all along that you didn't really mean to Turn Your Back.'

'You're sure?' said Camicazi, still a little muffled.

'Absolutely sure,' lied Hiccup awkwardly.

Comes back to haunt them.

And the thing is, I don't think Camicazi even has to be wrong or 'the bad guy' in this situation. Just hold a position and work in a way that Hiccup doesn't see eye to eye with. Hiccup having to face serious Camicazi and Camicazi having to be serious Camicazi.

That would be a really fresh conflict for the series and I'd hope in the end, deepen their friendship.
