Hi. Benjamin Brown who realizes he’s in love with his best friend the night he finds out Charlie is going to leave him at bloors. Benjamin Brown who buries it deep down inside and doesn’t say a word about it even to his dog. Benjamin brown who finally does find the courage to talk to himself about it but he’ll never let himself say the word “love” because deep down he hopes it’ll go away. Benjamin Brown who feels stupid because it won’t go away. Benjamin Brown who avoids doing difficult things with Charlie not entirely out of worry for his own safety but because he’s scared that every little action he makes is going to somehow mess everything up.

Charlie Bone who doesn’t realize he’s in love with his best friend until he’s sent Emma Tolly home to her aunt. Charlie Bone who talks to all his friends at Bloors about the things he and Benjamin have done. Charlie Bone who tells Fidelio as gets off the bus that he can’t wait to see Ben that weekend. Charlie Bone who frowns when Ben doesn’t offer to go find Henry with him, because he really does want to involve his friend more. Charlie Bone who makes it as obvious as he can without actually saying.

Ben & Charlie who sit next to each other one night, watching a movie in a quiet, practically abandoned living room, leaning on each other in silence, before Charlie decides he should bite the bullet and just say it.

Benjamin Brown who doesn’t quite process it at first, doesn’t understand for a second or two before he blinks rapidly and thinks about what he’s supposed to say.

“I love you too.”

Do u guys also think about the hypothetical of Ben actively counting down the days until he goes home while he’s in Hong Kong. Do u think about the idea that he probably cried himself to sleep without his two biggest sources of any comfort at all. Do you think he spent nights sleeplessly planning what he’d do when he got back, what he’d say, what Charlie would say. Do u think he felt an ever growing pit in his stomach every day, for 7 whole months, waiting for so long.

Benlie first kiss but they’re hesitant and simply unsure if it’s the right thing to be in love with your best friend, especially in their situation.

But it happens, maybe on a moonlit night when they’re not completely there, talking to each other about whatever and somehow it turns into something small. Maybe it’s during the day, they’re hanging out, getting food together and for some reason it just feels right.

But they don’t talk about it, they shove it away for more important matters in their mind, but the memory is constantly there. And neither of them really have the guts to try and talk about it.

Because what if they wouldn’t work? With Charlie gone so often and their lack of relatively consistent communication outside of the weekends, what if it just ends up as a disaster that destroys their friendship in the process?

Benlie special because uhmm parallel w/ Amy and Lyell. Magic kid falls in love with non-magic person (as far as they are aware. Amy was technically related to a wizard.) Griselda Bone hates both Amy and Benjamin an unnecessary amount. You guys get what I mean.

Do u think about them looking into each other’s eyes and thinking to themselves This is the person I’d wish to spend the rest of my life with.
