Demystifying the art of component reuse in SAPUI5
One of the things I’ve always found being really complex was component reuse. This means to use one app inside another. In this blog series, I will try my best to demystify this, as it really isn’t that hard at all.
First of all, why would you even want to do this? Well let me try to explain. As you probably know, developers are lazy and if we can reuse previous generated code for other apps, not only is it smarter, because we only change in one place, but also much more effective of our precious lazy time. As an example, I am working for a customer right now, where the search helps we use in the app are other independent apps and also we are building extensions to My Inbox workflow items, that will be consisting of about 6 different apps, one for each tab in the app. Sounds complicated right, but hopefully by the end of this blog series, you’ll realise that it really isn’t.

Diving into sap.uxap: the Object Page Layout
Deep within the SAPUI5 and OpenUI5 toolkits lies a rather interesting library. Sat in a dimly lit corner, overshadowed by the all-singing, all-dancing sap.m, you notice it peering at you; beckoning you to explore… Late one Sunday you strike up the courage and prepare to embark on your journey. You take the first step. You open up the library and exclaim:”What on earth is an Object Page Layout!?”

UI5con St. Leon-Rot, June 30, 2017
On Friday June 30. the “Community networking” event for UI5 developers took place at the SAP Education center in St. Leon-Rot. It was the largest UI5 event until now, showing that the UI5community is growing fast. I am proud that I was there, being part of this community and I must say that SAP didn’t disappoint their front-end developers ...

SAPUI5 Developer Download
Quite some time ago an outcry went throughout this community asking “Hey SAP – Where do I download the SAPUI5 SDK“. Well, what can I say: that time there was no good answer to this legitimate question. But the UI5 lab understood the message and set about providing a software bundle exclusively for developers to sort this out. And hopefully good things come to those wait – since yesterday SAPUI5 SDK as well as Runtime is also available for download on SAP Development Tools.

Annotating and Extending Fiori Element Applications: List Report Part 3
When we look at Fiori Elements, we see the opinionated design that helps drive us towards a unified user experience (Fiori in general), floorplans that resolve common business application scenarios and tools such as Annotations that can be used to enrich OData services and shape our application’s behavior.

Real time syncing and offline capabilities using OpenUI5 ...
The OpenUI5 data model uses a node on an XMPP server to synchronize itself to different connected clients. Because of the usage of CRDT (Conflict-free replicated data type) it is easy to build offline capabilities on top of it.

openui5-i18n-util a great tool for lazy developers to auto-magically fetch, build and manage traslations file
We all know, developers are pretty lazy, it’s a solid reality. That’s why I built openui5-i18n-util just for you!
Lately I’m used to add directly i18n placeholder inside js/xml files without translating them everytime (because you perfectly know that translations will change dozen of times before release date).
