one of the most annoying feelings in ADHD is the can't-get-started-with-anything feeling. like, your ADHD is screaming you have to do something. you can't just rest, resting isn't a thing. even if you are resting, it's by doing something.
but nothing works. you try to watch something, it's not right. you can't. read? can't read right now play? nah none of these games seem fun make something? ehh, you're not feeling any of these projects right now social media? it's boring or worse right now, so... find something else it's like you're not moving but it's because you're too tense to do anything, just vibrating in place

Genuinely half the reason I got a cane was to make it clear to other people that there is a reason I am slow and you're just gonna have to deal with it. And it works! When I fly, I don't have to find an agent and explain that I'm slow and get exhausted easily and need to preboard, I just roll up when it's time to preboard like "sup bitches" and they board me, no questions asked. Hell, we were at an immersive show with timed entry waiting for our turn, and a cast member came over and got us onto the next elevator without me saying a word to anyone.
I feel like if people are showing visible contempt for your disability needs, they don't really care about you all that much and you'd probably be better off not trying to hang out with them--certainly not for any potentially active venture, but honestly probably not for anything at all because someone who would do that to you is a shitty person.
one thing that sucks in tandem wrt being fat and/or being physically disabled is a lifetime of being the downer no fun allowed friend just because of your body being the way that it is. can't fit on that amusement park ride can't keep up walking pace with the group can't navigate rough terrain with a mobility device etc. you try to even lightheartedly poke fun at the ada violations in a space or the seating you won't even try to sit on because it's clearly got a capacity of ~100lb and no matter what you get the weary wish-you'd-stayed-home stare right back

on some level it’s so funny how ‘socialist’ and ‘communist’ are still like. horrible terrible scary labels for a person in the US. almost akin to ‘puppy killer’ and ‘serial murderer’. the most evil thing some can imagine. the red scare propaganda worked so well that socialists are still the monster in the closet for a large portion of the US population. “you’re going to vote for a SOCIALIST?” and ‘socialist’ is said with the same scandalized, disgusted, disbelieving weight of ‘pedophile’

I know a company that does both these things and no surprise, when you shop there, the employees are always miserable and agitated. You should kill your managers in such situations imo. The only reason I receive treatment slightly above this is i'm lucky enough to have managers who are also bothered by these business practices. The water one is especially bad if you have heat intolerance, I was so sick regularly before I switched to a department with more leniency regarding water.
Depending on where you live these things may violate labor laws though so if you're in the same situation look into it. However in my experience any labor law violations happen without consequence regardless

A little thing I've noticed about very specific certain multiplayer games where the players are supposed to inhabit a "blank slate" player character to act as their vehicle of interaction it usually comes in one of 3 flavors.
1) completely generic white guy.
2) a person fully garbed head to toe showing absolutely no skin and they tell you isn't gendered but is still given a fully masculine body with no option to alter its shape
3) something not even really recognizable as a human. More of a approximation of something with two arms, two legs, a head and (maybe) a face.
All of them will generally share the trait that differentiated your blank slate from other players is done via dressing them up with clothes colors or accessories.
Generally this doesn't get remarked upon at all by people playing the game.
And then there's Satisfactory where there are numerous people on the community page saying that they loved the gameplay but are bothered by the fact that unlike other games the devs of this one made their "blank slate" player-character models all explicitly women but also not super femininely rail-thin.
And a bunch of guys don't know how to cope with being not only "forced" to play as a girl but also one that isn't really designed to be sexy.
I dunno, I just think it's neat.

i need to make a shoutout post for the ioway tribe's bee farm products right now
esp this:
Tumblr media
THE LOTION BAR.
why do i love it so much? bc it repels mosquitos WAY BETTER THAN BUG SPRAY. Not only does it make ur skin smell like honey, it forms a waxy seal that buggy chompers cant bite through.
it also soothes bug bites, rashes, and itchy skin.
my partner has the Yummy Blood that mosquitos find irresistable. we tried so many repellents, the wristbands, the candles... nothing seemed to keep them away. out of curiosity and desperation, we tried this lotion bar and the results have been life-changing for us. it is EXCEPTIONAL.
if u or someone u know is bug bait, i cannot recommend this tribe's beeswax bar enough. please support native businesses, ditch the bug spray. this stuff works, and smells, way way way better than anything else.
Not to mention they have REALLY GOOD HONEY.

And it's always very thoughtful! Like, he'll make a pear out of chocolate and fill it with chocolate cream, or make a chocolate orange slice flavored like orange
Honestly, getting to eat something of his is now a bucket list item of mine
Amaury "Chocolate Guy" Guichon is undoubtedly an extremely skilled sculptor in chocolate but I think my favorite thing about a lot of his videos is the effort he puts into putting actual dessert food under the sculpture work
So many of his desserts & pastries have at least 5 layers of different textures & flavors. Fruit jams, caramel, cake, creams, mousse, cookies, meringue, crumb layers etc
That's what makes his work truly impressive to me, especially as someone who quickly got tired of the "knife that turns everything into cake" thing, where it was all basic chocolate cake buried under 13 layers of fondant
It takes amaury's work from an impressive stunt to "if I ate that, it would probably be the best thing I'd eat in my whole life"

I like Maelle's ending. Of course it's lovely to think of all these characters we've grown so attached to coming together and getting to enjoy their lives. And maybe Verso will get to die of old age at last, and maybe her parents will convince her to pop back home for weekends and holidays.
But I needed Verso's ending. I needed to see Aline accept comfort, and Renoir finally relax. I need to believe that Maelle is wrong about this world having nothing for her, and that she can take everything she learned from this other life and use it to build something she wants. I need to believe that her family can get over their own shit and return to her.
Because "the life you were supposed to have" is a trap. It's a frozen moment that can never move forward, that consumes you to preserve its stasis.
But that life won't stop calling. And I can't indulge the desire to bury myself in it. (I can't pretend I would resist the temptation if such an option existed.)
There's a path forward and a life worth finding.
I needed to see that. I need to believe it.
