Luz decides to corner Amity one Thursday after school.

Okay, fine, maybe “corner” isn’t the right word.  She is simply pulling her girlfriend aside for a conversation.  

But by the way Amity reacts, you’d think she is being cornered.

“So, Amity,” Luz starts as they walk home together, “Is there something…wrong?”

Amity stops in her tracks , schooling her expression into one of confusion.  But Luz knows her, and she recognizes the moment of panic on her face before she manages to cover it up.

“There is something wrong, isn’t there? Did I…did I do something?”

It’s been about a month since they started dating, and Luz has mostly banished her insecurities about it.

Mostly.

Because Amity is acting weird, and there’s a chance that it’s Luz’s fault.

This time, the panic on Amity’s face doesn’t go away.

“Wait, Luz, no, you didn’t do anything, I promise!”

“So then what’s going on?” Luz asks, “Every time I hold your hand, or put my head on your shoulder, you get all stiff, like you’re not comfortable. Am I too touchy? I know I’m a touchy person, but I don’t want it to ruin our relationship, and-”

“It’s not that,” Amity interrupts.  To illustrate this, she takes Luz’s hand in hers.  “I love holding your hand, and I love it when you rest your head on my shoulder, and all the other things.”

Luz lets the feeling of Amity’s hand in hers calm her.  “So what’s wrong then?”

To Luz’s surprise, Amity goes bright red.  It’s always easy to tell when Amity is embarrassed, because her face turns the color of cherries.

“I just feel like….I feel like I want…too much?” Amity says this like a question.

“I don’t understand.”

“It’s like when you’re holding my hand, I have to stop myself from holding on to your entire arm.  When you put your head on my shoulder, I want to wrap you in my arms and just…not let go.  I’ve been scared that all of that is too much for you, like if I touch you all the time you’ll get annoyed, or- I don’t know.”  Amity sighs.  “I just want to be holding you, like, all the time,” she admits quietly, and Luz’s heart swells at least three sizes.

“What’s wrong with that?” Luz asks, “If I could hold you all the time, I would too.”

“Really?”

“Yeah! I mean, you’re my girlfriend, right? It’s normal!” Luz thinks about this.  “I think.  I’ve never dated anyone before, so I don’t know how this all works, but I think it’s totally normal.”

Amity bites her lip, looking like she’s considering something.  Finally, she says “So does that mean we can cuddle?”

“Oh my gosh, of course we can!” Luz says enthusiastically, “Wanna come back to The Owl House? We can get a bunch of blankets and get all cozy!”

For the first time since the conversation started, Amity’s face breaks out into a smile.

“Yeah,” she says, “Yeah, I’d love that.”

“That’s the last blanket,” Luz announces, draping a blanket over the couch.  They’ve made a little bit of a pillow fort, with soft corners and cozy vibes.

Luz immediately crawls in, but when Amity seems to hesitate, she reaches out and takes her hand.  She pulls Amity in next to her and drapes a blanket over the both of them.

“Are you sure you’re okay?” Luz asks, because Amity looks stiff and nervous again.

“Yeah!” Amity squeaks, “I mean.  Yes.  Absolutely.”

“Okay then I’m just gonna…” Luz trails off as she puts an arm around Amity and pulls her close.

“Are you sure this is okay?” Amity asks, and Luz nods.  “More than okay!”

Amity appears to consider this and then slowly wraps her arms around Luz, putting her head on her chest.

“Can you hear how fast my heart’s beating?” Luz asks, and Amity giggles because yeah, it’s going a million miles per hour.  

After a few minutes, when it seems like Amity has really settled in, Luz slowly reaches out to run her hand through Amity’s hair.  

The effect is immediate.  Amity completely melts.  Her limbs go loose, and she makes a contented sound in the back of her throat.  

Luz smiles and continues playing with Amity’s hair, enjoying how relaxed and at peace Amity looks.  

After a few minutes Luz hears a soft snore come from the vicinity of her chest.  Apparently Amity is really comfortable.

Luz marvels at the fact that someone trusts her enough to fall asleep on her.  She really is so lucky that she has Amity.  She stops playing with Amity’s hair and hugs her girlfriend tightly instead.

“Good night,” she whispers, kissing Amity on the top of her head.

In response, Amity snuggles in closer.  Luz giggles and closes her eyes, vowing to ask Amity if they can do this every day.

Hidden Tributes

It is said that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is, not only an outstanding game, but also an endearing tribute to beloved and gone-to-soon Nintendo President, Satoru Iwata (and possibly Robin Williams).

If you go to the Outskirts Stable, you will find a kind NPC named Botrick. He looks quite a bit like Iwata, especially since he has glasses, which are rare for Hylians.

You might think that this is just a coincidence; however, when you talk to the Iwata look-alike, he tells you about a fabled creature that is seen up on Satori Mountain.

When you get up to the peak, there is a beautiful area with a pond and a cherry tree.

On certain nights, you will see the Lord of the Mountain there swathed in an otherworldly glow.

Could this be a representation of Satoru Iwata’s spirit? Well, look at what the description in the compendium for the LOTM is:

…and Breath of the Wild director, Hidemaro Fujibayashi, said in an interview with The New Yorker, “When Iwata passed away, there were moments we’d come up with an idea which we’d be excited to talk to Iwata about. Then we’d remember he was no longer here. The sadness runs deep. This is approaching spiritual talk, but we had the sense that he was watching over our work.” Crying yet?

Well, it is also speculated that Breath of the Wild holds a tribute to Robin Williams as well. As is well-known, Robin was a huge fan of The Legend of Zelda; so much so, that he named his daughter Zelda after the game. He also made advertisements for Ocarina of Time 3D and Skyward Sword. His daughter, Zelda, was also the MC for some of the Symphony of the Goddesses concerts.

The first possible tribute is this guy at Foothill Stable that resembles Robin:

The second is the researcher at Akkala Tech Lab. He has a humorous, quirky personality (like Robin) and his name is Robbie, which is an out-of-place name in the game.

The third is the King of Hyrule, King Rhoam, who resembles Robin the way he looks in the OoT 3D commercial he did. Additionally, King Rhoam starts out as a humorous old man and later reveals himself to be a spirit. He also has a daughter named Zelda.

One more thing to note is that when Link stands on a certain bridge, a man, who thinks Link is suicidal, stops him and talks him out of jumping to his death. Some think this is also a heartbreaking tribute to Robin Williams.
