The last box was squared away. Her car was neatly packed and ready to head back to where ever she called home. “Not to put a damper on the inner turmoil that you are going through, but you kind of already started. I mean, you’ve been talking to me this entire time.”
Tumblr media
“...I have, haven’t I?” Orella gave a small smile as she unlocked her driver’s side door. She hadn’t really thought about the conversation the two had; she rarely thought at all, sometimes. “Well, here’s to hoping that everyone in town is as friendly as you are.

Orella escaped the house once again to avoid the inevitable criticism from her aunt, ending up at the grill not too far from her home. She was in the process of popping a fry in her mouth before the argument beside her arose. She didn’t mean to stare, but curiosity had always been her downfall. Then she got called out for it. “I wasn’t...” She was about to lie that she wasn’t watching before chuckling, rolling her shoulders. “I can tell, was that icing on the cake?”
“Please for the last time, I wasn’t trying to steal your drink, I ordered the same thing okay? I’m sorry, it was just a misunderstanding”  the vampire said, trying to convince the person that was yelling at him. Unsuccessfully, he thought after seeing the person angrily getting out of the grill. He looked to the side, noticing that was being watched, “Rough day”

“Give it time.” The ball of fur behind all the boxes spoke. “It will grow on you, like a fungus.” Years of dealing with Stiles’ humor and he still wasn’t funny. “Maybe this is the universe telling you that being lonely is no longer an option. Time to branch out.”
Tumblr media
Orella thought about what Scott was saying as she stuffed the last box in the back seat, a small hmph slipping past her lips. “I wouldn’t even know where to start. It’s been a long time since I had people,” she muttered quietly, shutting the door and fidgeting with the keys in her hand.

Ethan gave a soft nod to let the woman know that he was listening as she spoke about being left behind once given the bite. “I’m not the best wolf to go to for advice… but there are others in town.” He said uncertianly – more concerned, at least internally, about directing her to another pack. “There’s a man named Derek Hale in town. His family is… one of the oldest werewolf families in existence. You can always try to find him and have him help you come to terms with your abilities.” Ethan explained. Then a thought struck him.
“Actually, a better though. A young man, about my age, named Scott McCall. He’s not an alpha, but he shares your sentiments with the gift I believe. He can also help you cope.” Ethan offered. There was a brief twinge of guilt inside him – guilt for directing her to the two individuals the Pack was trying to dismantle and assimilate.
Orella watched him as he spoke, eyebrows knitted together as she sensed something else in the air surrounding them. Was it concern? Guilt? She tilted her head to the side as he began to name names, an aura of hope beginning to radiate off of her. For so long, she had been neglected, ignored, ridiculed, and persecuted for what she didn’t choose to be. And now, there was hope for her to get the help she needed? She could hardly contain herself.  “Really?” She asked with a growing smile, teeth gleaming as she held her hands together over her mouth. “That would be amazing, actually. Thank you, Ethan. I mean it.”

Oh boy did he know exactly what she mean. “Uh, yeah, I think I do.” Scott remained still as she took the top box. Allowing her to place her things where she wanted them to be. “This place is just like the name says, a Beacon.”
Tumblr media
“Life imitates its meaning, I guess. I’m just... not quite sure if it suits me or not,” Orella said, plucking the second box away and shoving it inside. “I mean, I’m used to being alone. Lonely people aren’t meant for this place.”

Ethan was quiet for a moment, reading the woman’s body language as well as the emotional scents that drifted from her. “Everyone feels like that at first, I think. The things we can do though? There’s no reason not to embrace what we are. Life is so much better with our abilities.” Ethan stated. The alpha bit hit tongue for a moment. The Pack wouldn’t approve of him being so ‘gentle’ as they would put it. “Not the greatest person, I take it?” He asked quietly when she mentioned only knowing one other wolf.
Orella gave out a humorless laugh, the type that’s airy and filled with malice. She wasn’t grateful for her powers; she wanted nothing to do with them, not anymore. “They did nothing but to ruin my life,” she said quietly, shaking her head and scoffing. “He made me like this and left, knowing what would happen.” She quickly changed her attitude and sighed, giving a shrug and a smile. “But what’s there to do now except move on?”

Ethan’s brow furrowed. The woman was telling the truth; there weren’t any heart flutters or other tells of lying. “Man, you really don’t know…” He commented and sighed to himself as he tried to figure out what to do. “Look, I’m not… going to hurt you or anything. Sorry, I’m just used to werewolves being open with one another about what they are.” He explained, shaking his head. “I haven’t met very many that weren’t familiar with what they were.”
“Alpha’s are like… the leaders of werewolves. We’re the strongest type and usually you’ll only find an Alpha at the head of their own pack.” He explained.
Orella crossed her feet and her arms over her chest, a defensive stance she took whenever she was confused or near harm. At this point, the girl was the former. “What happened to me was a circumstance I wouldn’t wish on anybody,” she muttered softly, looking down at her feet momentarily.
“I’ve never had an alpha before I guess,” she said in thought, moving her mouth from side to side before sighing. “I’ve only ever met one person like me before.”

Ethan let out a quiet sigh. What was with the amount of wolves he had met in this town alone that didn’t want to be open with what they were? It was just a concept he couldn’t understand. Yet, he remained cool. “I’m an alpha.” He said quietly. “Even if I wasn’t, I could smell the wolf on you when we met.” He clarified.
Just because she was like him (or so he claimed), it didn’t mean that she knew all the facts about the life. Hell, the man who turned her into what she was disappeared right after he’d done it. So, Orella couldn’t mask her confusion even if she tried. “An alpha..?” She trailed off and cleared her throat. She didn’t need anymore trouble. She had gotten exiled from one town already: she didn’t want to make it another one. “I don’t know what you mean,” she repeated.

Ethan nodded and leaned against the frame of her vehicle. “If you say so, but hey. Question for you,” He started and glanced around some. “You just decide to not use your strength for these boxes to keep up appearances or something?” He asked her bluntly. The scent was lingering in the air, of course, but he hadn’t been prioritizing it like he normally would.
Orella was busy fiddling with grabbing the key off the key ring when she said, “Go ahead! It’s the least I can do,” she replied before her fingers stopped for a moment, looking up at him with a knit of her eyebrows, confused. Nobody had ever accused her of what she was; at least, not like this. “What?” She asked him, lips slightly parting. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“You think so?” Ethan chuckled some. He wasn’t sure if he could see him ever dying his hair or doing anything like that. It was kind of useful, most days, having a twin that looked as identical as Aiden did. He let out a sigh as he finished piling the boxes in and gave her a small nod. “No problem. You gonna be good unloading these at home?”
“Since I wouldn’t look good doing it, someone should,” The young werewolf woman said with a smile. Orella looked back at the car and gave a light shrug, moving her mouth from side to side as she thought. “Maybe, probably not. But hey, there’s always just picking out the things I need as time comes.”

Orella happened to be walking down the sidewalk, her thoughts and body separate entities. Even surrounded by people, she had never felt lonelier; as a result, her mind began to wander and so did her stare. The brunette hadn’t expected to get called out for it. Quickly snapping out out of her spell, she knitted her eyebrows together and tilted her head up at the stranger. “I’ve never wanted to do either of those things,” she mused softly. “And I didn’t mean to stare: force of habit.”
He was smoking a cigarette, focused on the people walking around. Humans. Always immersed in their own world, living in a bubble, never realizing how small and insignificant their problems are. Kol took another drag, “When someone stares at me that much they either want to kiss me or kill me. Both options i suggest you don’t”  the brunette stared the person back “Now that the situation is clear, you gonna tell me what do you want”

Her very brief summary of her aunt was one he discussed the other day. “The short ones are always the feistiest.” A laugh followed as well as his legs. Still heading in which ever direction she needed to go. “All my life. Born, raised, most likely will die here. Not that I have any problem with that. I love it here.”
Tumblr media
“Feisty is one word for it. A synonym could be: cynical, indifferent, etc.” Orella gave a roll of her shoulders to shrug, unlocking the doors of her vehicle as they approached it. “I can tell the people love it here. There’s just this... energy surrounding this place, you know what I mean?” She asked as she plucked a box off the top of the tower and slid it inside the backseat.

“Yeah, it’d probably make things a lot easier. Maybe I’ll dye my hair or something to make us stand out.” He said before rolling his shoulders. “His name’s Aiden, and you can feel free to tell him I said I was nicer. I’m always giving him crap.” Ethan explained as he positioned the boxes in the back carefully and let out a small sigh once they were arranged.
“Mhm. You’d be a good blonde, I suppose,” She replied in her airy voice, distant yet affectionate. Orella watched as he piled the packages in the back of the car and shut the door once he was finished, looking up at him with a gentle smile. “Well, thank you for helping this unfortunate soul. I owe you one, Ethan.”

“Yeah, twin actually. So if you see someone that looks like me running around, it could very well be him.” Ethan said. “I’m the nicer one though.” He grinned some and laughed. “A lawyer? Damn, and here I am just being a basic student.” He joked. Once they arrived at the vehicle, he looked around. “So, where you want these?”
“Maybe one of you should put an x on your hand, so that I know which one is you,” Orella teased with a small smile, arching an eyebrow. “The nicer one? I will make sure to keep it in mind.” She brushed some of her hair out of her eyes and behind her ear when she gave a loose shrug.”It’s more of my mother’s dream than mine.” She sighed with relief as she got to her car, setting the box at her feet and unlocking the doors. “You can just put them in the back, if you don’t mind.”

Ethan chuckled softly and quietly hummed to himself as he thought over her question. “My brother and I haven’t been here that long. We started up at the university and have been here ever since; just taking some basics and stuff like that.” He explained.
“A brother, huh? That sounds nice, coming from an only child,” She mused with a slight nod as she thought about it. Well, she didn’t used to be like that, not all the time. “You’re at the university? Me too! I’m studying to be a lawyer, if you can imagine that.”

a small smile spreads across laura’s face. it’s a welcome distraction even if she’s still has tasks to complete. she’s got hours yet though. “no problem,” she says. “let me help you with some of that,” she continues, reaching for one of the boxes. “you got somewhere you’re headed?”
Tumblr media
“Hope I didn’t distract you from doing anything with my pitiful demeanor,” Orella teased with an airy laugh, tilting one of the boxes to slide in the woman’s hands. “Just home, my mother had most of my shipped here; I got here a couple days ago,” she explained with a shrug.

Ethan wandered along behind the woman as she led the way to her vehicle. “You can call me Ethan, Ellie. What brings you to a place like Beacon Hills?” The wolf questioned her curiously in return. “Was it the oh-so-sunny weather?” He joked lightly. The clouds overhead seemed to blot of the sun momentarily in protest.
Ellie kicked a rock that was beside her shoe and wrinkled her nose, the rich scent coming back to her. What was that, exactly? She pushed the thought to the back of her mind and answered his question with a laugh. “Maybe so! Beacon Hills? Much better than the beach,” she replied jokingly. “But no, I just wanted a... change of scenery, you could say. What about you? Been here long?”
