I was just talking to a friend of mine who still playing the DLC and I fucking was struck by a fucking galaxy brain theory
Remember good 'ol tragic Millicent? Remember her whole thing was that she was one of 5 "offshoots" that were born when Malenia did the big no fuck u to Radahn and fucked up Caelid?
Remember how at some point Milli says the following?
"There is something I must return to Malenia. The will that was once her own. The dignity, the sense of self, that allowed her to resist the call of the scarlet rot. The pride she abandoned, to meet Radahn's measure."
What if she meant that literally? That she literally is Malenia's dignity?
Shadow of the Erdtree is all about Miquella going around and shedding aspects of himself, fear love doubt and so on. Most people agree that St. Trina is the human manifestation of Miquella's love, so what if Millicent was the same?
Millicent is the human manifestation of Malenia's pride, and she was shed, just like Trina, when Mal decided to play dirty because she wanted to win at any cost
That includes Milli's sisters, I bet you they too are also aspects of Malenia's self, and when you fight her at the Haligtree, what you are actually fighting is a husk, a hallow imitation of what she used to be
Thats why she seems so out of it, she just wants to fight and win, thats all thats left of her :(
Milli wanted to return to Mal and merge back together, even if she didn't truly understand thats what she wanted, but alas she couldn't make it and Malenia was doomed to remain a husk of herself untill the very end

That edge of resentment when Morgott talks of the "twin prodigies". Because Malenia and Miquella were, officially, Marika's only set of twins. The twin prodigies. They were twins and they were brilliant.
And Morgott had to live with the knowledge that he and his brother - both twins, both talented - would never be "the twin prodiges" even though they came first.

It's actually funny, in a meta way, how people are salty about Miquella being a villain. Because, like, that's how it is in-game too.
The people of the Lands Between wanted Miquella to be the solution to their problems. To be the promised savior. The God who would get it all right and do what Marika tried to do and failed so resoundingly, bring an age of infinite prosperity.
But, no, it doesn't work like that. Gods can't solve their problems. The Gods want their own ends and then convince people that what they want is what's best for them. The fans are the same as the poor bastards in the Haligtree, waiting for their savior, only for it to turn out he's just another spoiled kid.
It's brilliant, from a writing perspective. They kept Miquella vague, letting the Soulsborne fandom do what it always does, theorize, investigate, and build up ideas. We built up an image of Miquella as a savior, a hero, one of the only truly heroic characters to understand and get it right.
But in the end, Miquella fooled us as well as he fooled his own people.

[Elden Ring DLC spoilers] sir Ansbach, what an absolute CHAD.
[MAJOR SPOILERS]
.
]

one thing Shadow of the Erdtree did was write a delicuously hatable villians, and the assorted heroes to rally against it.
stayed loyal to the end to Mohg Mogh, pierced through Miquella's deception, and even challenged her, trying to Free Mohg from his Brainwashing.
he even forgives us for killing Mohg given the situation.
and he follows us in to fight against the god that ruined everything.
what would have made it even better is if Morgott, or at least using a margit projection, also went in to avenge his brother.
"Lord Mohg will have his Dignity".
damn that's a raw line. I used to actually dislike mohg, genuinely. I admittedly also disliked his fanbase that flanderized his gross actions. And even after this, it's a toxic blood cult, but taking Ansbach's actions alone.....PURE CHAD.
like his brother, the Omen twins deserved Better!
damn.

Sometimes I worry about the image I give off. Like, what did that delivery guy think when I opened the door and the girl who took his pizza was wearing an Amy Rose t-shirt, an N7 hoodie, bright red sneaks and moderately dorky glasses. Then I remember all of those things are awesome

Biggest adult life trick I've learned is to lay that platonic praise kink on thick
Yesterday I told my friend "I'm proud of you for reaching out". Today I got told sb is proud of me for stretching and taking care of my body. I absolutely cheered them on for getting pants on and leaving the house
Utterly underrated, telling sb they did a good job. I literally feel the positive reinforcement strengthening some neural pathways like. Telling sb what they did was good makes it so much more likely to value yourself for taking that same action.
