I think every computer user needs to read this because holy fucking shit this is fucking horrible.
So Windows has a new feature incoming called Recall where your computer will first, monitor everything you do with screenshots every couple of seconds and "process that" with an AI.
Hey, errrr, fuck no? This isn't merely because AI is really energy intensive to the point that it causes environmental damage. This is because it's basically surveilling what you are doing on your fucking desktop.
This AI is not going to be on your desktop, like all AI, it's going to be done on another server, "in the cloud" to be precise, so all those data and screenshot? They're going to go off to Microsoft. Microsoft are going to be monitoring what you do on your own computer.
Now of course Microsoft are going to be all "oooh, it's okay, we'll keep your data safe". They won't. Let me just remind you that evidence given over from Facebook has been used to prosecute a mother and daughter for an "illegal abortion", Microsoft will likely do the same.
And before someone goes "durrr, nuthin' to fear, nuthin to hide", let me remind you that you can be doing completely legal and righteous acts and still have the police on your arse. Are you an activist? Don't even need to be a hackivist, you can just be very vocal about something concerning and have the fucking police on your arse. They did this with environmental protesters in the UK. The culture war against transgender people looks likely to be heading in a direction wherein people looking for information on transgender people or help transitioning will be tracked down too. You have plenty to hide from the government, including your opinions and ideas.
Again, look into backing up your shit and switching to Linux Mint or Ubuntu to get away from Microsoft doing this shit.

Dex Entry #110*: Galarian Weezing
This odd form of Weezing seems to have developed during Galar's Industrial Revolution, a time of unprecedented air pollution. Somehow Weezing in Galar went from being part of the pollution to being the solution, developing a shape similar to the very smoke stacks putting out the noxious fumes (and also the top hats of the business moguls who owned the factories).

Dex Entry #101*: Hisuian Electrode
This ancient variant of Electrode had good control over their internal electricity thanks to their exteriors being a similar wooden material to apricorn shells used for early Pokéballs.

Dex Entry #100*: Hisuian Voltorb
It is unknown how or why Voltorb were able to change over several generations from being made of wood to being made of a metallic material, mimicking the development of the Pokéball. One fringe theory suggests that the happy and enthusiastic Hisuian Voltorb became so mad at humans for displacing them that they hardened in both body and spirit.

Dex Entry #99*: Gigantamax Kingler
Once feared as a sea monster by Galarian sailors, a former King of the region ordered for the population of Kingler to be controlled to reduce how many Gigantamax Kingler could attack ships and ports. This led to a boom in Galarian seafood.

Dex Entry #59: Arcanine*: Hisuian Arcanine
The way this ancient variety of Arcanine hunted was described in ancient texts as "deceptively graceful - if one did not notice their prey fleeing for its life, they could mistake it for dancing". This led the people of Hisui to believe Arcanine had divine powers, and worship them as guardians. Hence why Arcanine was mistakenly considered a Legendary for centuries.

Dex Entry #58*: Hisuian Growlithe
This ancient variation of Growlithe would live and hunt in pairs, and were extremely devoted to their chosen partners. When humans decided to try domesticating them, this resulted in some Hisuian Growlithe taking humans as their partners, and after many generations we ended up with the loyal and lovable puppies we have today!

My take as a scientist who works with wild fish? Catching multiple Pokémon of the same species to complete the Pokédex is not only not problematic, it’s necessary. You don’t want a sample size that’s too small! That’s how you end up with misinformation. Imagine writing a whole-ass assessment of a species based on a single Alpha captured in the field… you’d get people INSISTING that Pikachu is six feet tall, and the smaller, more normal-sized ones are anomalies, haha.
This is just… how we do the research in my field; use the proper gear to capture a creature (a trawl net, seine net, or fish trap at my job, a Pokéball in the game,) take data, then release it… which the game encourages you to do by rewarding you with EV-boosting items when you return the Pokémon you don’t want to bond with to the wild!
And the fact that each Pokémon has a unique height and weight when you catch it, and that you’re encouraged to find out what foods it likes, what moves it likes to use, etc., feels a LOT more like science than the previous Pokédex-Completion aspects of the game had.
tl;dr, you don’t have to feel like an exploitative shitheel for capturing 25 Bidoof for the Pokédex and then releasing them… that’s just fieldwork, babey! You’re ensuring a proper sample size, which means good data, which increases understanding. You are a good scientist!
