Book 3 Alternatives: Momtara and Dadko

Toph tries to get under katara and Zuko’s skin for being so uptight and “bossy” she starts sarcastically calling them “Mom” and “Dad.”

This works to get them flustered and irritated. The rest of the gang starts in on it, too, when they don’t want to do chores. But, it backfires gloriously because while Zuko bad Katara are both easily annoyed, they also grew up with annoying (and dangerous) siblings.

The both of them realize this, which leads Zuko to offhandedly call Katara “wifey” as a sarcastic response to Toph but, Katara assumes this was intentional as revenge. Hence, she leans into it and starts calling Zuko Hubby.

They fall into their roles effortlessly and start acting like an actual married couple with shared responsibilities and cheek kisses before “work” (aka Aang training.) It starts out as a joke and drives Toph nuts.

But things start to escalate, and it’s no longer just cheek kisses and pet names when Toph and the others are around. It’s a habit and leads to real kisses, which shocks everyone, including themselves, when it first happens.

Their first kiss is in front of everyone when Zuko says, “bye honey.” But instead of on the cheek, they both just instinctively have a real kiss, and everyone is silent because it takes a second for them to register what just happened. (Like that scene with Monica and Chandler from friends when he accidentally kissed Monica goodbye in front of everyone.)

They both agree not to talk about it and that it was “a one time thing” and “an accident.”

Their second kiss is that same night before they go to bed, when they say “goodnight” with a quick peck.

At this point it keeps happening and before long everyone but them know they’re a couple.

Sokka gets great teasing material, but he also suffers from two parents instead of one.

Suki is super supportive and loves having girl talk with Katara.

Aang is heartbroken but he’ll be fine because he wants katara to be happy and Zuko is his friend.

The only one who suffers is Toph.

Book 3 Alternatives: TSR

“Oh everyone trusts you now? I was the first person to trust you, remember? Back in Ba Sing Se. And you turned around and betrayed me. Betrayed all of us!”

“I was afraid!”

“Afraid of what?!”

“I feel warm with you!”

Katara stilled. “What-”

“I feel warm with you, and people who make me feel warm always get hurt.” Zuko explained.

“I...” Katara faltered. “I don’t understand...”

Zuko sighed. “My mother, uncle- everyone who’s ever shown me love is gone. Every time I feel warm with someone, something happens to them. And when we were in the cave... I felt warm with you too...”

Katara carefully sat herself on the grass as she processed his words “Warm...”

Zuko followed suit and slumped against the nearest rock. Exhaustion evident in his eyes. “All my life, I’ve been surrounded by people who are cold. Coming back home was the same. My father was cold, my sister, my girlfriend- everyone was cold. Cold is safe... Cold protects people who matter.”

Katara pinched the bridge of her nose in frustration. “You can’t-” Katara snarled. “You can’t just say things like that. It’s not fair. I get to be mad at you!”

“You do! You absolutely do.” Zuko agreed. “You’re right to be mad. I’m angry at myself too.”

“What do you want?” Katara whispered.

“You were right when you told me I struggled to do the right thing in the past. I have. But now I know this is where I’m supposed to be. Because when I saw you at my doorway, the warmth came back, and this time I wasn’t afraid.”

Zutara Month 2021 Day 1: Momtara and Dadko

Yes it’s already ZK month here in my country. I was suppose to do a Fire nation version of this but irl keeps on getting in the way 🥲. Momtara and Dadko is usually my go to zk fics, especially when I am in need of a boost of serotonin. I do plan to draw some of my fav fics that has this prompt, but if you have fic suggestions feel free to tell me about it!

i literally get so angry when someone insults Sakuno as ‘trying so hard to get Ryoma’s attention’. like, what the fuck bitch. she’s not even trying to get attention. she is Ryoma’s friend. she’s fine being so and quietly supports him. remember from the OVA ep, she did not speak about her reason for going to a shrine but then Ryoma found out why anyway. idk if anyone has said this but ryoma and sakuno’s relationship is a built-up from acquaintances to friends to boyfriend (this stage here still debatable at this point). sa-chan has always been there supporting him & now that ryoma (kind of) realizes how significant or constant sakuno is on his life and give her attention, you go hatin’ her character more. lmao, when will tenipuri girls get all the love they deserve. stop bullying our girls just because they are much closer to the boys than you’ll ever be.
