Young Oprah got a full ride to Tennessee University and worked in broadcasting. She was hired for a talk show called A.M Chicago. This led to The Oprah Winfrey Show which quickly challenged the most highest rated talk shows at the time (Late 1980s). The show ran from 1986-2011!

Oprah campaigned for the National Child Protection Act and stood before a judiciary committee. Long story short she pleaded with them and the president to make sure that convicted child abusers and such were put in a national database for law enforcement agencies/concerned parties. Oprah convinced Clinton and now the Act is also called The Oprah Bill.
