              STILES   KNOWS   THAT   HE’S   LEAVING   HIS   BEST   FRIEND   IN   A   TIGHT   SPOT.   They’d barely just finished high school a year ago, and now ?   Instead of sticking around, instead of going into that FBI program that he’d interned for, he’s here. Pulled back into the supernaturality of Beacon Hills, forced to pick at old wounds until he gets to the core   &   finally lets it heal. It won’t ever heal – he knows that. But he also wouldn’t be able to live with himself knowing that something   UNNATURAL   killed his mother   &   he sat around instead of doing something about it. He can take care of himself, now ; he’s been trained by Chris, and he knows the rights and wrongs of hunting. He knows where the line for revenge is, he knows to keep himself from sinking into the otherworldly   &   all-devouring black hole of vengeance.       “ It’s just a couple of weeks. Time’ll go by fast … you won’t even know I’m gone. ”      That’s what he’s telling himself, at least. After finding out about his mother and dropping out of the internship, he’d stayed here and helped out Scott when he could. Of course, the other male was proficient at his job of taking care of animals and made a fantastic veterinarian – he didn’t need help. Not much will change when Stiles leaves, except maybe Scott’s peace of mind.        “ Just think of it as a road trip, or something. ”       He returns the squeeze on his hand, amber eyes meeting Scott’s and offering the slightest semblance of   LIFE   in a while. He stands from his seat on the couch, awkwardly lingering.   How does he say goodbye without getting emotional ?   He’ll miss Scott while he’s gone, he knows that. And if the thing kills him while he’s out ?   He can’t afford to let his mind wander there, but it does anyways.       “ I’ll keep in touch. Stay safe, alright ?   Please. ”

          Scott hates this-- he hates it even more when Stiles rises from his seat and easily gives out his goodbye. He understands that this is hard for his best friend and he would do anything if he could, but he felt as though there was only so much either of them could do without going down a dark path that involved hatred and revenge. Scott couldn’t stand it, chest clenching and that had the Alpha rising from his seat and stepping into Stiles’ path, a hand raising to cup his jaw. “Stiles. Please, I get it, I do, but don’t do this. You don’t have to.” What could he say to make him stop? He knew there wasn’t much, but he was still GRASPING for straws here.         Scot searches whiskey hues, trying to find a hint of hope he could hold on to. “I’m safer if I’m with you. And you know you are too. We’re better... together.” The alpha grabs his friend’s hands, fingers tangling with his. “Please... don’t leave.”

                THEY’RE   BOTH   OBLIVIOUS,   it seems,   &   it’s only out of pure excitement that the truth comes stumbling out. Stiles isn’t opposed, of course ; he’s glad that this was happening. Now, they could take a moment to settle their feelings and decide where they stood with each other – and for the most part, it seemed mutual. The brunet’s always had some sort of crush on Scott, whether he’d like to admit it or not – and that surprise peck on the lips was all it took to make him lose his voice   &   train of thought. Instead of pushing away the thought and conversation to save face and prudence, he embraces it. Especially since it’d been a long time coming.       “ Yeah. Yeah – I … uh, I thought about it a lot, actually. I mean, like you said, I didn’t think about it too much because of the whole apocalypse thing, but – … ”       He’s going to continue on in his awkward explanation, but it’s halted to a sudden stop when Scott pulls him close and seals their lips together in another kiss. It’s a little more impassioned this time, and Stiles gives in completely. He melts into the contact, eyes closing   &   a hand resting on Scott’s shoulder while the other carefully cups the nape of his neck. It’s intimate   &   intense all at once. After a few more moments, he pulls back and gazes into his companion’s dark eyes with a small smile.      “ Sooo … you gonna read   Call of the Wild   to me tonight ?   From the new copy ? ”

     The grin on his face when Stiles finally pulled away was something he couldn’t hide. The kiss alone left his body tingling-- like it was an electricity surge except it didn’t sting, instead it was just a buzz he didn’t want to shake. Hell, if he had a choice, he’s lean in for another kiss... maybe another... Scott nods though, fingers threading through Stiles’ short locks before reaching for the book. “Of course, gotta break this bad puppy in.” He lingers for a long minute, leaning in to steal another kiss, selfish in his own right. “Sorry, last one. Promise.”

alright, i’m ACTUALLY here today. mostly doing responses, queuing, and maybe some theme work since it does need updating, we’ll see. sorry i’ve been so absolutely slow, but i really miss scooter and i refuse to give up. <3
