good evening everyone that found the rutile post again, this blog still exists im just existing in the void of No Update

[paddparadscha]

rutile is a really interesting character that i didn't see a lot of people discuss beyond threads about whether they're evil or sympathetic.

but the most standing out quality of rutile is how they're very much on their way to becoming human thorough the manga, just starting out from a different point than phos.

when the manga narrative starts they've already been alive for a long time and they managed to find their own niche to fill, so they don't resemble childlike phos at all. they're also more focused on a single target instead of the bigger picture like phos was, but the journey the two of them took was quite similiar. they were both truly lonely, padparadscha was rutile's antarc, the knowledge that adamant can fix gems better and faster than them and trying to come up with something he couldn't do (fixing pdprdscha) was rutile's search for meaning and seeing how padparadscha was fixed by lunarians was a moment of the same weight to them that learning of why gems kept getting hunted was for phos.

they're the only characters to show so much rage, determination and grief in the entire cast, no one compares to volume 11 phos and rutile clutching onto padparadscha's part when it comes to the sheer volume of their emotions. i sincerely believe that should rutile endure more hardships, they'd become human too.

it's ironic how the character that only cared about one thing was necessary to the survival of the group and therefore left unbothered but the character that cared about everyone was only important to one person to relieve them of their human imposed duties
