Palpatine and other Sith have learned to discreetly monitor it over the years to gather intel, but have to be very careful to avoid transmitting their own gossip in return or advertising their presence

Dooku uses it to keep tabs on Obi-Wan specifically, and uses it to make one last dead drop in the moments before his death on the Invisible Hand

since Anakin and Palpatine both can't (or won't) tap into the network as they make their escape, neither is aware that there's a Jedi Shadow lurking in Palpatine's office to make it look like there was one more commando droid that had been missed during the Senate Guard's sweep, cutting the head off the snake of the Sith

the actual reason I consume mediocre media is because I have bad taste. the deeper secret pretentious reason is because I think there’s something very revealing about bad media that you don’t get with good media. when you watch a poorly executed plot point unfold, you see the machinery behind it. you see the gap between what’s actually on screen and the true goal the author is striving for. if it’s particularly awful, you can even measure just how poorly mismatched the author’s skills are with the story they’re trying to tell you. watching a poorly executed narrative play out feels like you’re discovering something, because you see all the wiring and guts underneath that better authors hide from you, in the same way that movies hide boom mics and books make you forget you’re turning the pages. if a story is good and executed well you just see the story. but I want to see the guts and wires!

if there was a dangerous foodborne illness outbreak that had dozens of illnesses linked to it across the country, you would still want to know who did it even if those products were expired and no longer being sold, right?

well the US FDA disagrees with you.

there was an e. coli O157:H7 outbreak (investigation #1280) tied to a romaine and iceberg lettuce blend. the FDA knows who did it and where people got sick. 12 states so far.

but for some reason. they are being cagey as fuck about it. they have not named the supplier or even WHERE people got sick. this contaminated lettuce blend was sent to events, restaurants, a school. this lettuce is long expired and no longer being sold.

the FDA is working with the unnamed supplier to see if any of their other products are affected, but the FDA is not even giving the people the option of avoiding this brand. because they refuse to fucking name them!

fuck off with this shit!

this is a shiga toxin-producing strain of e. coli that can cause kidney failure and other long-lasting medical conditions! this is not funny! people deserve to know who did it! especially in a country where patients are so often forced to sue to get their medical bills covered, and especially considering how this is a strain of e. coli that frequently KILLS people!

if this mystery entity is named, I will let you know. it is hard to even guess if the FDA is protecting someone or if this is just another fuckup in a long long long long long string of recent fuckups by the FDA.
