instructions YAY!
The class will get into 4 groups each with a piece of paper and a drawing material. There will be 4 rounds. Each round they will have different instructions about what to draw on the paper. At the end of each round the groups will swap papers with the group next to them, getting a different paper each round.
Round 1: Draw the setting
It could be a valley, city corner, bedroom, behind the dumpster in a dark alley Is there a waterfall? Is it night time? Is it a sunny bright happy setting or gloomy?
Round 2: Draw someone in the setting
It could be your whole group, vicky, 2 people from your group.
What are they doing in this place?
Are they interacting with each other?
Round 3: Draw something that disrupts the scene.
something or someone that is disrupting the scene?
It could be a dragon burning down the room
A set of bulls destroying the china set.
Volcano?
Round 4: Interpret the scene
Write a little blurb about what is happening in the drawing
Create names, background stories, relationships of the characters

Joseph L Griffiths
In Joseph L Griffiths work Drawing Machine #1, a mixed media work that used contraption made from a bicycle to transfer audience energy into a drawing. Griffiths created a playful and poetic experience, bringing the relationship between man and machine visible. The machine starts spins creating colourful marks on the wall when someone petals on the haphazardly constructed bicycle. Moving the handle bars back and forth also creates movement on the wall. Through engaging the audience in his work he tries to get them to reconsider the human position with in technologie.

Heather Hansen
Heather Hansen experiments with kinetic drawing bringing her love for visual art and dance into one. She originally got her inspiration while dancing on the beach, noticing the lines her body makes in the sand with different movement. Hansen’s work called Emptied Gestures shows the blueprint of her movements downloading her movement which is three dimensional to a two dimensional paper. She uses charcoal and her body to create abstract drawings. While most of her pieces are black and white her art invites you to explore the grey area between her movement and the visual drawing.

Concept Statement
In this work I explore the idea of the human in the world.
When I was little and I would travel somewhere new or even somewhere I have been many times it was mindbogaling to think that the people buying gas or walking their dog live there all the time. That the world doesn't revolve around me and my life. It reminds me of the movie The Truman Show, this is what I thought traveling was.Even now you don’t often think about how vast the world is in your day to day life. You don’t think about people in other countries living different lives unrelated from the ones you are living here, and if you do think about this you don’t think about the distance there is between them. Even traveling by plain or even by car your perception of distance is skewed by how fast you can get there. You never think about yourself compared to the world, that you are bigger than something that is just the things you have, and the people you know. You are a part of the world.
I looked at artists that explore these idea of the universe and imagining the unimaginable. In Yayoi Kusama work, Infinity Mirrored Room, gleaming Lights of the Souls, 2008, the mirror-layered enclosed spaces give the viewer an impression of entering a boundless realm with all the surfaces reflecting off one another, back and forth, forever. “When the people see their own reflection multiplied to infinity,” the artist has said, “they then sense that there is no limit to man’s ability to project himself into endless space.” She created a cosmic space beyond the world we live on, establishing a place of infinite existence. Like Kusama, Agnes Denes work, Systems in Isotropic Space Map Projections: The Doughnut, The Hot Dog,1979, explores illusion and reality. They are sculptured reality, based on the conflicting and interdependent elements of art and existence, imagination and fact, chaos and order, irrationality and reason. The Universe is a place full of limitless possibilities for reimagining, as can be seen in this watercolour-and-pencil drawing of Earth.
With this in mind I created 6 drawing each expanding their view on human in the world. The first one is you in the Sydney. Think about yourself and your arms, your hands, your legs, walking on your legs, how far those legs can take you. Then think about Sydney, how far can your legs take you compared to how big Sydney is. The second one is you in Australia. Widen your view and think about how many Sydney's you can fit in Australia. How long will that take you to walk around the whole country? Can your legs do it? The third is you on the world. Look at you on that world. Look at Sydney on that world and how small that looks now from this perspective. The fourth is on the moon. Think about how long that will take, how far that would be, for you to walk from Sydney to where you are now on the moon. The fifth is you in the solar system. Think about the earth Now think about the world in our solar system and how the world that you just thought was so big is only a fraction of that space. Then think about you in that solar system, and that solar system in a galaxy. The sixth is you in the galaxy. Think about how many stars are in that galaxies how many planets. Think about the endless human or non-humans that exist there. And even then there are other galaxies that make up the universe. How long would that take for your legs to take you to a galaxy that is light years away. It becomes unimaginable.
