What effects do discrimination and stigma have on those who have mental health conditions?
Stigma and discrimination are the negative behavior of others toward those who live with mental illnesses. These include humiliation and stereotypes that may come from within the self, from the public, or from institutions. All these things affect people to perform well and be able. It also affects those people close to them.
The inability to ask for assistance would be the principal result. As a result, there is no proven method of prophylaxis, and symptoms worsen. Naturally, those who don't ask for assistance don't get any care. The internal impacts of prejudice and stigma would also manifest as issues with self-esteem. They will choose to withdraw from society, believing that this is the only way to comprehend what is happening. Additionally, functionality at work or in school declines.
