Here's an interesting fact, this milestone, one of the earliest to be placed along the Portsmouth to London road had been "lost" for decades and was only rediscovered as the old A3 was removed and nature was allowed to return. Once found the stone was removed, cleaned up, and placed back in its original spot once work had been completed removing the old road. The exploration continues and I made my way to Seven Dials which is an area of London close to Covent Garden and strangely is named after a roundabout, though a very pretty one. Back when Paddington railway station was built, the private companies, like the Great Western Railway, that built them took great pride in their accomplishments and wanted to ensure the public knew who they were. It's not just about the lettering at the top of this building that makes a statement, it's the architecture of this building itself, when people first clapped eyes on this they would have marveled at the brave new world ahead.
