✨ It's time to explore and find new paths!
So go ahead and follow me! It's Flash Fiction Friday!
✨ New to FFF? Let us fill you in!
Flash Fiction Friday is a fun writer event that’s meant to inspire, share and connect writings of all genres and writers of all ages. It’s designed to make people want to write, especially if they’re feeling blocked. Everyone and everything is welcome!
We always do our very best to keep the prompt’s genre open, entertaining, positive and encouraging.
Write between 100-1000 words. It can be any genre, in any text format and 18+ is fine by us, just please tag accordingly.
Use this Friday’s theme in your text. Any way you see fit.
Post on your tumblr blog and remember to tag us at @flashfictionfridayofficial!! So we’ll see it, read it and reblog it!!
Deadline is 24 hours after the prompt has been issued (12 pm CET).
And then, next Friday, we’ll mention your work in a showcase post on our main blog before our next prompt drops.
Please post your entries as regular posts, not screenshots — or provide the text as a regular post as well. Let’s keep everything as accessible as possible!
We ask you to tag your works with any appropriate content warnings and let the reader know what they’ll find before they get the chance to read your work!
If you have a question, check out our FAQ page! If your question isn’t on there, don’t hesitate to ask!
You don’t need to ask for permission or need to get added to a list to join in. Just write, have fun and don’t forget to tag us!
We do not condone fiction, asks or comments that glorify: direct hostility, unconstructive critique, LGBTQIA+ hate, slurs, racism and/or general no-no behaviors.
If you want to be closer to the epicenter, you can come chat on our open discord: https://discord.gg/rUWCE8a
✨ We also introduced our very own Wishing Well, a place for you to whisper your prompt suggestions into. And we’ll listen! Check everything about it out HERE.
✨All your amazing works from last week can be found HERE.
Go check them out and consider supporting your fellow FFF writers with some likes and reblogs!
✨ And now, the new prompt!

[#FFF317 Lead the Way!]
It might be an adventure, it might be a boring visit. But we are in a place and going somewhere! Just that someone needs to show us where to go... Or do they? Sometimes it's simply better to know that no one is walking behind us. Whether it's a quirky or fluffy show of trust or a revolution unfolding - it's time to go places! With your writing! Go, go, go, go, go, go, go!

not everything on the internet is true. a lot of people have never actually bothered to double check the thoughts they formed over the years and then think the spaghetti of it all counts as knowledge. and then they spread those half-assed noodle thoughts as facts or truth or anything other than assumptions at best. then other people see that shit and assume the person who said it bothered to give a single fucking google about it first. it is infuriating. nobody knows everything and everyone makes mistake but holy shit a lot of people need to either try harder before they talk or just pick different subjects to talk about. wikipedia is FREE!
news flash: if it does not have an internal ink reservoir, it is NOT a fountain pen. fountain pens contain ink INSIDE the pen, which constantly flows from the internal ink reservoir and down to the tip of the nib. the ink is always right there at the tip. that is literally the point. fountain pens do NOT have to be continuously dipped, brushed, or otherwise loaded with ink. that is literally what the "fountain" part fucking means!!!!!!!
I will die on this hill. because truth matters to me. and if truth matters to you too, launch every single mislabeled dip pen right into the fucking ionosphere. it really is that simple.

REBLOG THIS POST TO SPREAD AWARENESS!
This isn’t just about protecting the kids anymore, it’s about invading their privacy and limiting their freedom. Spread awareness to everyone and hope that this doesn’t go forward.

got an utterly wild email at work today from someone accusing us of violating the city's status as a trans sanctuary bc we're “pulling award winning and bestselling LGBTQIA+ texts from our online library”.
because of predatory capitalism, libraries do not own their digital collections. we're purchasing a license for that content, and there's many different kinds of licenses. many of them are only available for one to two years, or a certain number of checkouts. audiobooks are more frequently unlimited loans and don't expire, but not always. the books in question that this patron was concerned about are "metered access" titles. they automatically get weeded when the license duration expires (for digital collections: weeded titles are hidden from our collections when there aren't any more copies in our collection).
hundreds of titles expire every week. we have 35,000 titles on OverDrive that are weeded atm -- we're not manually weeding them, it's purely automated. we cannot repurchase every title that gets weeded, especially when, say, the eBook you can buy for $7 costs us $75 and we can only keep it for either one year or 26 checkouts, whichever comes first. i look at the report of weeded titles when i get the email telling me what titles were weeded, and i prioritize rebuying titles that had holds on them when they expired -- if no one was on the hold list for Pageboy or A Lesbiana's Guide to Catholic School when they expired, I have zero clue they expired in the first place! and when we purchase a cart of queer books all at once, say for Pride Month, they're all going to expire at the same time. so it's scary to see a bunch of books disappear all at once, but it's not because we're villains yanking them away from you.
we need activists fighting for the freedom to read. so please speak up if you have concerns about your library caving to book challenges! i appreciate that this person is fighting the good fight! but also: ask your librarian what's going on first. and submit patron requests for titles that you notice are no longer in the collection. we will rebuy them! (budget depending. we're the library of last recourse so we get a much more generous budget than most other libraries. still got our budget slashed this year, and other libraries are in very dire straits. so i would also encourage people to write their senator, especially during spring when budgets are being considered for the new fiscal year, and tell them to allocate more funds to libraries!)

ppl misunderstand me when I say "I want more [thing] in stories". I don't mean "I'm going to love every single one" I mean "I'm very picky and I want more of it in circulation so I can actually choose from a wealth of them and be discerning". I see ppl being like "you say you want more of [this thing] but you don't like [example of it]" YEAH CUZ I'M PICKY!!!!!!!! I have opinions and standards????? not all of them are gonna be the same I wanna be able to look at 100 of them and go "I want these 20" not "I only have 3 to choose from and I don't like any of them" you feel me??????
