Currently Inked: October 2017
The arrival of October brings to mind fall colours capped off with Halloween. So, my pen and ink line up for the month rich reds, oranges and brown. The one limitation was that the ink had to come stored in plastic bottles. This was because October 1 fell on Sunday but I headed up to our family cottage for the weekend on Friday. I didn't have time to ink up before leaving for our trip hence, I tried to choose ink bottles that wouldn't crack.
NEW (In order of appearance in line-up)
Pen: Parker Vacumatic Golden Pearl F Ink: Diamine Chocolate Brown
Pen: Franklin-Christoph Model 31 Omnis 14k Masuyama MCI Ink: KWZ Northern Twilight Scriptus 2016 KWZ Northern Twilight Scriptus 2016 was the one ink that I brought that came in a glass bottle. I wanted to revisit this limited edition ink that was made just for the Scriptus Toronto Pen show last year. Scriptus 2017 will be held on October 29. I paired this black blue ink up with with a black bodied pen.
Pen: OMAS Ogiva Alba EF Extra Flessibile Ink: Diamine Ancient Copper For some reason I always reach for Diamine Ancient Copper whenever I want to ink up the OMAS Ogiva Alba with an orange ink. The rustiness in this ink makes it more red than orange but I love the combination.
Pen: yStudio Portable Fountain Pen (Brassing) F Ink: Robert Oster Astoriquiza Rot Robert Oster Astoriquiza Rot seems fitting in this brass body pen with nearly black finish.
Pen: Pelikan M400 Brown Tortoiseshell F Ink: Robert Oster Gold Antigua The golden tones in Robert Oster Gold Antigua brings out the complex golden flecks in this Brown Tortie.
So how many pens do you have inked up for October? What are your favourite pen and ink combos?

Throwback Thursday: Hobonichi Techo vs Stalogy 365 Throwdown
It’s that time of year again - preorder season for the next year’s edition of the Hobonichi planner. With that in mind, today’s Throwback Thursday is to what may be the most viewed post on Pendora’s Box: Hobonichi Techo vs Stalogy 365 Throwdown.
This year I have been using the Stalogy 365. I enjoy the fact that it’s undated. I can skip a day if nothing special happened. On other days, I may use multiple pages. I find the flexibility less mentally draining. On the other hand, since the Stalogy 365 is undated, inertia takes over and I find myself often just too “busy” to do an entry.
Due to these countervailing forces, I’m struggling this year with what to do for my planner arrangement for next year. Should I go back to the Hobo? Should I continue on the Stalogy wagon? Decisions need to be made fast before those 2018 Hobo’s sell out!!
Do you use a planner? What do you use?

Currently Inked: July 2017
The themes for July are Canada's 150 and travel.
NEW (In order of appearance in line-up)
Pen: Franklin-Christoph Pocket 20 Translucent Bronze B Ink: Pilot Iroshizuku Ina-Ho Translucent Bronze is exclusive to my favourite Canadian pen shop, Wonder Pens. This pocket pen will travel with me on my summer journeys. Pilot Iroshizuku Ina-ho has a bronze-y feel.
Pen: Franklin-Christoph Model 20 Translucent Bronze Music Ink: Robert Oster Gold Antiqua This is the big brother to the Pocket 20 in Wonder Pens exclusive Translucent Bronze. Since this pen has large ink volume, I fitted it with the ink thirsty music nib. I wanted something similar but different from Pilot Iroshizuku Ina-ho so I chose the darker and richer looking Robert Oster Gold Antiqua ink.
Pen: Pilot/Namiki Vanishing Point Raden Water Surface F Ink: Noodler's Plains of Abraham I feel I always need to have either the Lamy 2000 or a Pilot Vanishing Point inked up for copious note taking purpose. This time I paired the Vanishing Point with Noodler's Plains of Abraham which is also a Wonder Pens exclusive. Given that it's Canada's 150, I thought the Plains of Abraham reference is particularly fitting.
Pen: OMAS Ogiva Alba EF Extra Flessibile Ink: Sailor Jentle Kin Mokusei My Omas Ogiva Alba makes a comeback into rotation. I thought a bright happy orange like the Sailor Kin Mokusei would be a good match.
Pen: Platinum 3776 Sai M Ink: Pilot Iroshizuku Momji I needed a red ink in honour of Canada Day but I don't have a red that matches up exactly to Maple Leaf flag red. I settled with Pilot Iroshizuku Momji which I paired with the crystal clear Platinum 3776 Century Sai.
Pen: Franklin-Christoph Pocket 40 Blue-Violet and Ice Masuyama F Cursive Italic Ink: Akkerman #5 Shocking Blue I wanted to have another pocket sized pen for travel purpose so I went with this Franklin-Christoph Pocket 40 which hasn't been used for a long while. It pairs nicely with Akkerman Shocking Blue.
So how many pens do you have inked up for July? What are your favourite pen and ink combos?
